Re: The Questions Thread

I am building an avenger and would like to know if my mercs might would be added to dmg before my vengence elemental damage is calculated.

Also, with having conviction on, does my chance to hit show on the chr screen inclusive of the effects of the aura?

Re: The Questions Thread

Nope, that only enhances the total physical component of your damage. For Avengers the only things you should look at when thinking about improving damage are the weapon, +damage (not +% dmg) on gear and charms, and Vengeance/synergy slvl.

Also, no the chance to hit isn't correct on the LCS after the green aura hits the monsters.

I have a few questions on Faster Run / Walk:
- Are there diminishing returns on FRW?
- Is there any difference in the base FRW speed between character classes?
- Is FRW from skills such as BoS, Vigor, Frenzy, Feral Rage etc lumped in with the boots, or is it somehow treated differently?

Thanks.

Edit:
Thanks Muzz - So is there a formula floating around for how FRW is calculated?

*Casts level 37 summon RTB*

Edit2:
Found it in the strategy compendium.
*Casts unsummon on RTB*

Re: The Questions Thread

FRW is the same for different classes. Item FRW suffers from diminishing returns, but skill FRW doesn't.

Re: The Questions Thread

I'd like to give hellforge rushing a try. I looked at the guide and other related threads. I understand I need a modified dll file, I did a google search which turned up several. I didn't know which one to download. Can anyone send me a pm and send me the file I need?

I'll be using 1.09b version since that seems to be the best version for HF rushes.

Even better, learn how to make your own, it worked for me, and it was my first time with a hex editor

Re: The Questions Thread

When gambling for S/U, is there any clvl requirements, or is it sufficient to be higher level than the level requirement of a particular item?

(going to try this in the green w/ envy II tourney)

peace

Re: The Questions Thread

My merc has a Thorns aura on him and a monster kills himself when he hits my merc. Does the merc get experience for killing the monster? Does my merc's MF get added in when determining the item drop for the monster?

Re: The Questions Thread

Neither do I, just google "hex editor" and you'll find a free one, open the d2fgx.dll in it (make a backup), find the bit and change it, took 5 minutes, inc. the time needed to d/l install the editor

Ok, I'll give it a try.

One last thing I thought of this morning. I'll need two versions of d2 on my rusher's pc, How do I install the 2nd (earlier) version on my pc?

when getting uniques/sets from gambling, lvl requirement has nothing to do with the availability of the particular set/unique.
Before I will find an accurate answer, somebody else will answer it better. Let's just say, that the important is item level of gambled item, which is randomly around your character level - and it has to be at least the same as magic quality lvl of the particular set/unique...

EDIT - http://home.comcast.net/~tokusanya/110_full_tc.txt (link to qlvls)
Gambled item lvl is equal to character lvl + rnd(10)-5 (it varies between clvl-5 to clvl+4)
So you have to be at least at lvl25 if you want to gamble qlvl20 Sander's Paragon to be sure, that each Gambled cap could turn into it.

EDIT2 - chances for the base item to be upgraded to exceptional/elite version:
exceptional = 1 + (ilvl - excep qlvl) * 90 / 100
elite = 1 + (ilvl - elite qlvl) * 33 / 100

You can learn a lot more about item generation in this Item Generation Tutorial guide

You don't need 2 installs if using TrenShadow's version switcher :)
But if you nonetheless want 2 different versions, my best guess would be you had to uninstall D2, reinstall it, copy the not yet patched version to a different folder and then upgrade the installed version. If you start the Game.exe in the copied folder, you'll have the older patch, but save folders will be the same for both versions. So TrenShadow's version switcher for sure offers the most comfort here.

Re: The Questions Thread

You can add 1.11 manually. Simply create a new directory alongside the others. Note which files are in the directories for other versions, and copy their 1.11 counterparts to the new directory.

EDIT: Actually, I think you can keep playing 1.11 simply by using the regular shortcut. But having a backup of your 1.11 files is a good idea anyways.

Add 1.11 to trenshadow's version switcher?

Re: The Questions Thread

I don't really get why you would want to add 1.11 to the version switcher, it's there if you just update the main install to 1.11. The only difference is that you use game.exe or Diablo II.exe to start D2 instead of the .vbs files.

Re: The Questions Thread

As muzzz said - you don't need a 1.11 folder, because if you want to play 1.11, you simply start up the game with the regular Game.exe in your regular D2 folder.

Note that you need 2 different shortcuts if you want to run mulitple instances of 1.09:
For the first game you need one that points to the "LaunchModGame.vbs" in the 1.09 folder and starts in the 1.09 folder.
For each following game you want to start you need to use a 2nd shorcut, that points to the regular Game.exe in your regular D2 folder, but you have to select under "starts in" the 1.09 folder. Thanks to yiuman for pointing this out here.

Ok so I have a 1.11 version with RWM already on my pc. How do I make the 2nd shortcut to run 1.09b for hellforge rushing?

I am just not getting that part.
