The Enchantress Tournament

Meh, I'll be putting points into Static regardless of whether it's an allowed skill or not. If it's disallowed I just won't use it until after the first death. :p Could also put points into it last, but then I'll probably find it less helpful once I'm done when I need it. Hmm...

Big update from me, I won't be able to play until the weekend so I cleared all the way from act 1 to act 4 and incredibly I'm still alive. I've exceeded my wildest expectations already, :laugh:

Overall progress has been slow and dangerous. I spent most of the time hiding behind my merc while he took of business. Until enchant gets past lvl 10 the damage is really pitiful. My original plan was to use a fast 1 hander with a shield setup, but I was so desperate for damage that I used a 2 hander for all but the most dangerous places.

Andariel was my first really tough fight, at lvl 16. I loaded up on antidote pots and played cat and mouse with a bow until she died. The summoner was the next tricky fight, just tele'd in and out until me and my merc got low on health. It took awhile because I had to clear the platform while trying to avoid a near instant death.

I was really dreading Duriel, but between lvl 1 energy shield, %50ish block and trading tanking with my merc I managed to pull it off. Don't try this without rejuv pots. Act3 was infinitely easier than the end of act 1 and all of act 2. Cleared through it on players 5 until durance lvl 3. Ran into a conviction Bremm sparkfist. Was going to park him but let my merc solo him instead. Ran up and down the stairs a few times. It's cheap, but then again so is leb with conviction. Mephisto went down easy, didn't need rejuv's for him at all thanks to the resist gear I saved up and gambled for.

Well, I made it to Lut Gholein and just stopped to mule off all of my gems and jewellery for cubing later. The only NDE I had in all of Act 1 was with puny little Rakanishu, I seriously underestimated the impact of his Lightning Bolts as well as his pack surrounding me and getting me stunlocked, very scary and potentially very embarrassing:tongue: . I was planning to go melee, and I did so for Act 1, but Andariel dropped me Cleglaw's gloves so I'm currently using my rogue's gemmed bow after I traded her in for a Defiance Merc. Next up I'm going to do a few Countess runs to see if I can get a Ral to make Leaf - of course I'll need to find a suitable staff as well.

Just plodding slowly along. No structure with my build yet, just pumping some synergies atm. I've got a cold armour up and just running around hoping to stay alive till enchant and ES. Toughest fight so far was the den of evil, and she barely made it out alive!

Wow, I always forget how much it stinks to play a sorcy with no skills. Ugh. It's going to be a long, slow crawl to level 18. At least by then I'll have my Warmth built up to a decent level, I suppose. But still, ick.

Candice has rescued Cain and found the Black Marsh WP. Her biggest problem so far was Treehand. He and his friends were taking forever to go down in life. It wasn't until after the minions were dead and he was slivered that I noticed that she was using the short staff she was using to cast Frozen Armour and not her scythe. Oops. :embarassed:

ChopChopBaby has rescued Cain just now. No real problems yet. Played all on p8 up till now and hardly spent a skillpoint yet.

Flame_Bait has rescued Cain and proceeded to the Black Marsh where she's been visiting the Countess. The first two visits kindly yielded a Tir and an El, so they were placed in a Large Axe to make Steel.

No major difficulties so far but I'm not looking forward to Andy.

Did a trist run to get a level and what did rashiku (sp?) drop me but a gull dagger, which lead to some unqiue monster dropping me
gorefoot! then Andy decided to drop me bloodfist after a long and boring duel, Things are looking up, decided not to go to ES route due to mana burns - will go max block, hopefully get 1k life and boost damage nicely

I ran the countess until I got Enchant/Tele and then went into the Jail/Catacombs on /p1. It wasn't that bad with tele available. I didn't get a Ral though
Andy was rather easy with a healthy chunk of fire damage.

I would be very grateful if the experienced Enchantress players could give some advice on what weapon would be good. I have no idea how to invest my stat points. So far most went into vitality as it is HC.

Inara made it safely through Act 2, trading her bow for a 'Steel' Broad Axe which is doing good damage for this period of the game. I shopped at Drognan's for quite a while, hoping for a +3 Enchant, 2 socket staff but the best I could get was a +3 enchant normal staff which hopefully will have 2 sockets once I get a PAmethyst to cube it with.

Of Course this will require another Ral rune as well as the one required for 'Leaf' so I did a few more Countess runs and found a Ral, as well as these:

Just killed the countess for the first time, might run her a bit to get some runes and get up to level 18.

BloodGeon went into the countess tower, but never made it out. A big pack of archers trapped her as she was going through a door and kept her in hit-recovery, making her unable to move. The boss was LE, and the merc kept plucking away at her and with low LR, she just stood there and died.

Well, an early exit for her.

just a quick question on this rule - can we use charges of non sorc skills, such as necro curses, or other things of that nature?

Powered on through to the River of Flame with no major problems. Meph dropped a Sander's Wand which I used for a while but I really missed the Open Wounds of my 'steel' Broad Axe in the River of Flame. I found the Ral I needed to socket my staff for Leaf, just waiting to get a PAmethyst. I also found a Thul rune in the River of Flame which made up for the crappy drop from the Hellforge (Tir).

Time for my update... Mephy is dead... Thank the D2 Gods Acts II and III are finished...

I made a 'Steel' Long Sword, which is honestly helping a bunch... Was using Isenhart's Lightbrand but figured a faster weapon would help me out. I was so glad to get teleport. There were a couple of incidents with Rogue Archers that were VNDEs (VERY near death experiences :grin:) and tele would have helped me A LOT...

I pumped VIT to 50 before ES was available... Don't know if that was a mistake yet or not, but Flare needed some life as playing untwinked isn't that nice to a low defense sorc with only 10 VIT... STR was put to 75, like always... And the last ~20 pts went into ENE to beef up Mana for ES... I think in NM I will get a HF merc with 'Insight' just to be able to tele from a Mana burn pack...

No spectacular finds except a nice Rare Studded Leather for my merc and a REALLY nice Pike for my HF merc... When I get him available that is... I'm hoping to get a Tal or higher from HF --> Doesn't it go up to Amn in Normal?

Flame_Bait killed Andy very easily (don't know what I was worried about!) and is now sun-bathing in Lut Gholein for a bit before pressing on.
