I use a +2 enchant orb in the weapon switch and keep its right mouse button set on enchant. When I want to enchant, I switch to the orb and right click on the merc. You see an orange swirl aura and the task is complete.

I have a Question, my warmth is at level 5 and when i place a point in it and put my mouse over Enchant it only increases the damage by 1. This is wierd because warmth gives 9% more fire damage.. is anyone else getting the same experience? please help me lol if i am doing something wrong.

the enchant skill say that u get 9% (PER CENT) damage to enchant for every wramth skill point set. if the damage of enchant is very low (at slvl 1 i think 9-10) the damage which comes from wramth is 9% *5 -> 45%, so your enchent damage would be 13.05 - 14.5 on slvl 1. if u set an other point to wramth which gives u 9% dmg it would be 13.86 - 15.4. but diablo2 is rounding that DOWN anyway if it would be 15.99999... it would be 15, so the dmg shown on screen is 13-15

It´s a utility weapon to use on the weapon switch. I will go for Balanced Knives because they are
* fast
* have a big stack size (at least 160)
* have lots of really useful possible affixes
Desirable stuff on said dagger would be:
* Prevent Monster Heal. Unless I have it on some other gear, I will not want to be without this in Hell. Speeds up the killing, and I gotta be able to kill those FI + PI critters too, you know (even if it goes slowly). A ranged weapon with PMH is pretty much standard for my characters in Hell, especially the weaker ones. Even simple Balanced Knife of Vileness is a great help. Poison can work instead, but it needs to be reapplied and doesn´t work against immunes. Open Wounds can also work, but it also needs to be reapplied, can´t be found on rare items, and it´s hard to get a decent amount of it with a ranged attack.
* Charges of a really useful Necromancer curse. Life Tap will be the best if I have a melee merc, but Weaken, Terror or Lower Resist are also good. Terror charges can be found on shields, though, or scaring can instead be be applied with:
* Wailing prefix (or its lesser "cousins"). Even 50% flee is good for crowd control if you can throw daggers fast with a good chance to hit.
* Knockback. Has several situational uses, and may be extra useful now that we are not allowed to spam Telekinesis at monsters.
* Ignore Target´s Defense
* Increased Attack Speed
* Big elemental damage (Shocking/Condensing, etc). If it´s lightning damage and against a monster I dare to melee, Lightning Mastery will boost it a lot and offer me decent amounts of a third damage type.
Combine as much of the above as possible on a rare, and you have a great Swiss Army Knife!
i just cant picture a enchant sorc to be using a swiss army knife. lol i would rather a big fat axe. But that is just me and my imagination.

She is right now shopping for a 2soc 2 or 3 to enchant staff so she can make a leaf runeword. Speaking of ‘Leaf’ is it only used for pre-buffing enchant and not used as main weapon?

Olga's deeds will be remembered. She was in the Travincal. She had just killed off Toorc Icefist, cubed the flail, and was battling Geleb Flamefinger. The going was slow because Geleb kept following Olga and ignoring Oslaf. Of course, Olga/Wolron made the fatal mistake of getting impatient and deciding to resort to melee with the flail. THe flail was immediately equipped after it was cubed because it was very fast and seemed to be a bit better than the Aldur's Rythum. Unfortunately, Wolron forgot to enchant it. Therefore, Geleb did not take much damage and after about ten seconds of fruitless whacking, Geleb got annoyed and smacked Olga once. Just once, that was all it took. Olga was immediately down, out and reading her deeds screen.
Oh well, fifth place will have to be the final resting place for Olga. That is, until someone passes her up! Good luck to all who remain. My decision now is to either start another enchantress or start another tournament. Maybe another Thespian adventure would be fun.

I was surprised when you decided to play HC, because this tournament was designed to be "short," i.e., too hard for people to make it through NM (much less Hell) without being killed. The skill restictions (forbidding static field and other elemental skills) - on top of a challenging build really resulted in a challenging tournament.
I am going away to my holiday house for 4 days and will not have the luxury to have the internet. I will be taking my laptop and playing with Mory up there i will notify everyone once i get back how i went or even worse if i died... lol

Well, I prefer to save those extra points until level 30+, so I can work on maxing Enchant and pump Fire Mastery for a couple of levels.

(I won´t bring the table this post since we had one just a few posts ago.
Ha, I see that Phiona is now in 9th place among the living, yay!)
It´s been a pretty safe walk in the park for Phiona, especially since she hired Ilzan the Prayer merc.
Phiona hardly needs to fight, she keeps busy with picking up and organizing stuff that drops. :grin:
Good finds include a 30% Nagelring from Andariel, Arctic Mitts + Binding, completed in an early tomb (I relly like that combo!), Ral rune from the AS, a gambled 33% Circlet of Luck and a 7/7 cold resist/+life Small Charm.
Every fight had been so easy, so I decided to take Duriel on /players 8. I had Phiona wear Hsaru´s belt, Bloodfist and a Bone Shield of Deflecting providing 61% blocking (been investing a good bit in DEX lately). I boosted both Phiona´s and Ilzan´s cold resist to >80% with thawing potions. Phiona with almost 300 life and a level 2 Energy Shield (which I realized wouldn´t last long, but it sure helps in the beginning if you don´t need any mana...)
Phiona did most of the tanking, her Shiver Armor keeping Duriel chilled. Every now and then, she would get knocked back by Smite and Duriel would go after Ilzan. This wasn´t so bad since it allowed Phiona and Ilzan to take turns tanking. Phiona got back into the fray as soon as possible every time. She tanked very well; for decent periods of time, her life actually went up , (thanks to the Prayer aura)! The fight took 1 minute and 55 seconds.
Resources used:
* 16 Thawing Potions (prebuff)
* 1 Healing Potion
* 8 Greater Healing Potions (saved up for this fight in the late half of act 2)
Our Weapons:
* 'Steel' Flail
* Rare Throwing Axe with IAS and Prevent Monster Heal (used three times so far: against a Holy Freeze Unraveler Boss, a Ghostly Apparition and a Stone Skin Gorebelly boss)
* Ilzan uses an 80% Savage Poleaxe (My first try with the recipe. This weapon is plenty good enough for a long time to come)
Total MF: +268% for Ilzan´s kills, +207% otherwise
(This is pretty good at this stage for a character without an early Gull.)
Phiona, level 28, Spider Forest next
Mory met a gruesome death at the flayer jungle. She was the young age of 27 years old and was wielding the magical rune word ‘Steel’ placed into a large axe. Her death was a careless mistake by clicking a mana potion instead of my healing potion, which caused her life pool to go to a dull 0. She was quite fun, nothing too special. Thank you for the tournament. May all the current contestants have fun.

Phiona has yawned her way through another act, watching her beefy guard mow down monsters. :flip:
Well, she does often help him out quite a bit (other than the Enchanting) - she tanks for him! Ilzan is not so cocky when there are like 4 Thrashers beating on him, so Phiona does a good job standing there next to him, demanding attention. She has decent Defense, her level is way above the monsters´, she has good blocking and her Shiver Armor slows down the enemies. The slowing is especially useful against those annoying monsters that flee (apes, zakarum soldiers), because it usually allows Ilzan to get another hit in when they start to flee. That extra hit is usually enough to kill them.
I found Milabrega´s Orb in the Durance. This evil item is going to get one of my characters killed some day, but (as usual) I count on finding the first Shael before that happens. It has not failed yet...
So standard setup is the throwing axes and Mil´s shield, with the Flail and a Jade Bone Shield of Deflecting on the switch (with Attack and Teleport as readied skills on that setup).
Mephisto was wimpier than I had expected. He didn´t even manage to remove the Energy Shield (although a bunch of potions were needed).
