Single Skill Tree Tourney

Forum Name: Shadow Druid
Character Name: Primal
Character Class: Druid
Character Level: 48
Last Quest: Rescue Cain
Last Waypoint: Black Marsh
Uniques found in NM: Bonesnap, Ravenclaw, Soulflay, Face of Horror

Had a couple of close calls which persuaded me to drop down to /players 5 - No point in risking death for some measly experience when my level is quite high already. I tried the Bonesnap out for a little while but without shapeshifting I felt too vulnerable to go hand-to-hand so I went back to my trusty bow.

Yeah I died.. sadly enough Diablo was a little too much on my barb. I was doing quite nicely with double swing and a combination of sigon's helm/gloves and hsarus belt/boots.. but I had only about 15% lightning res and his beam torched me :(

Thanks for the tourney, had fun!

2. Regarding Confuse. Do we get experience for

* Non-Confused monster that Confused monsters kill?
Yes, and the same for Attract. That's the only answer I know for sure.

As for what might be a useful duration for you, I would guess it depends entirely on your killing speed and/or personal tolerance for spamming curses on top of each other.

Not the dreaded 3-socket Great Helm/Mask! At least get her a crown!

Does anybody play a zon and is using a bow?? I am.. and my tricker finger is complaining about all the arrows I have to fire to kill the monsters.. I miss the multiple arrow skill :(

Maybe I should change stragegy.. I am thinking of wands .. one with lifetap charges and one with amplify damage charges.. (if they exist) That way I can help out my merc and valkyrie without shooting arrows.. (since they aren't doing much damage anyway) I mean.. after Baal tonight hell is coming up.. sure could use a shield with some resistances

What weapons do you guys use on your zons?

Ooh, show and tell time? As I'm sure you can imagine, I spend a lot of time with the left mouse button as well. (That is when I'm not using my left hand do down potions. I really need to get some life leach...)

You can't shop for wands with Amp charges, they don't exist. But you can find % to cast amp on a speedy bow (pierce will help trigger it)

My tankazons in Hell difficulty took advantage of Crushing Blow to inflict 90% of their damage. Blood gloves, and "Black" or "Strength" runewords in fast one-handers, Goblin Toe, Cleg's Brace, etc...
If you can get an Io rune, I highly recommend a "Black" Knout. Adequate damage, IAS, 40% CB.
Even w/o the banned CE charges, it's Hell viable.
Plus, you get to equip a shield.

I am not too fund of smacking any monsters in this tournement.. I would like to survive to the end if I can.. If it wasn't this tourney I would jab and fend the little thingies to hell.. but not in this tourney..

Guess what.. I went down to worldstone keep level 2 (NM) to clear the path to Baal.. As I crossed over the bridge from the waypoint I ran into a spectral monster who was so nice to drop me a Demon Machine crossbow.. My max damage was raised with more than 200 points.. Just what I needed.. and I found the lifetap wand I wanted..

So now Nightmare Baal is dead and Hell difficulty is waiting...

LiveAndLetDie: level 62, quest: Baal (NM), WP: Rouge Encampment (H)
IllBeDeadSoon: level 60.. Same quest and wp

Does this include Thunderstorm (seems passive, but it'd be nice to clarify)?

A shame about the "melee" designation for skills from items... I had a crazy idea to try a hammerdin by using a +3 blessed hammer scepter, and maxing blessed aim and concentration

hi i am retro nova u wana play diabllo

Does the job on /players 8, just started Act 3.

Made some good progress tonight, but off to bed.

Act 4: Made my way to Izual, pretty easily. He posed no danger, but took forever to down, on players 7. Back to little problem, save a health pot here and there, up to the Chaos Sanctuary. Naturally, things pick up steam, there, with the Oblivian groups. Cleared most of it out, and then lowered to players 1, not wanting to take on the seal bosses, or big D, on anything higher. Little problem with the bosses, and onward to Diablo. My merc and my Shadow Master(level 3) couldn't last but a second or two. The lightning hose was their bane. TPd and revived them twice, but same result, each time. So, I knew it was all up to me. Somewhat surprisingly, my assassin held her ground, and slowly wittled his life down, just dropping health pots. Made sure my level 2 Fade was on, and that had me at 75% resists to Fire and Lightning. Had to run and get some more health pots, that had been dropped by Sanctuary monsters, towards the end. Went right back at it, and whittle him down to a sliver. TP'd to town to get my merc, for his extra 22% MF, and we took him down, real quick. All we got was a Skewer of Krintiz and some rares, for the effort, but it felt good to be alive.

Earlier, found an Angelic ring, and Manald Heal ring, through act 4.

Act 5 started, with no problems.

Assassin question

Question for you assassins out there. Been using one claw or two? Being my first real assassin, I always thought two would be best. But, when I go with one, I can add the nice mods from a shield, and it seems like she attacks faster, with the one, than with two. Is it just an illusion? I didn't notice a big dropoff in her killing speed either. Higher block rate, resists, etc, etc. I think that's the route I'm going to go, as the game gets tougher.

I'd like to enter with a Sorc, since they are underrepresented. I am going to specialize in the Cold tree, with Enchant/melee as a backup skill.

I know using teleport is off-limits, but can I put points in Telekinesis for the ES bonus, since this would be a "passive" effect?

welcome to the tourney and goodluck..

No to telekenisis. it'd be like allowing meteor for the fireball synergy

I've cleared my path in Act 5 up to the point where I only need to do the ancients / WSK / Baal. These are up for a next session.

So what is Hell like in this tourney?? Well Hell is .. er.. Hell!! So far I/we have only been running in the bloody more (we cleared the den too).. but damn.. From the time my merc and valkyrie engage a group of enemies and till they are dead I can go call my mother, use the bathroom and make a cup of coffee and return to see the last monster fall.. Or so it seems anyway.. And when I get hit by a fallen twice more that half my health is gone..

My crossbow seems to do no damage at all either.. Good thing though.. my resistances are all 40+..

Decoy is good though.. all the blonde monsters go for her and gives me and my little party time to kill without getting hit too much..

The lifetap wand is working perfectly.. I use it when I do Mephisto (NM) runs and my merc never looses a hitpoint even though he has got poison on him. It worked on Baal (NM) as well when we killed him.

OH!! And this is really embarrassing.. I was complaining yesterday about my sore left mouse button finger.. My husband came home and asked me why I didn't just hold the left mouse button down for autofiring!!!! I have played this game for like 3 years and I didn't know!! LOL.. So now my finger is much better..

Fetish/Flayer/Soul Killer Shamen (each with their little band of infantry and artillery support) were the main enemies in the jungle. They were everywhere! In Spider Forest, Great Marsh, Flayer Jungle (nothing but them there, save for one Champ pack of vultures!) and both the FJ dungeons were packed with them. A bit boring in the long run, but I don´t complain since we take them down quickly. Players who think blowdarters are annoying haven´t used a good rogue...

Finished the session by finding the Lower Kurast waypoint without killing anything there. I had found so much valuable crap so I couldn´t gamble more circlets without running the risk of not being able to keep them all.

I realized that absolutley no fire resistance is a bad idea in the second half of the act, against Meteors and Hydras. I muled off the valuable crap and went gambling. I mostly looked for fire resist items. VERY good results:

Havoc Blazer
Boots

Resist Fire 26
Resist Poison 21
10% Faster Hit Recovery
+18% MF
Half Freeze Duration

Doom Clasp
Belt

10% chance to cast lvl 3 Nova when struck
+1 Strength
Resist Cold 8
Resist Fire 15
Resist Poison 9
+35 Life

You know I am serious about survival when I bring down the MF by 5 units (I had some 22/23 Coral Boots of Fortune before). :D

Now I have two Circlets of Luck for us. I think I will stop gambling circlets for a long while now (until Life Everlasting and such can spawn on them) and concentrate on getting some good gloves and hopefully even better boots.

I often have good item luck in Swampy Pit level 3. This time I found an Ith and some topazes. That rune and another one that I cubed from 3x Nef + 2x Eth got used in a 3-socketed Composite Bow. That´s Isolde´s new bow. Her listed damage is now 21-69. I hope to add a third Ith soon.

Another good find today was a rare Short Spear with both PMH and Knockback. Great utility gear that Mark happily put in his weapon switch slot.
It would have been end-game material if it had been a faster weapon type.

Character Names: Isolde (& Mark)
Character Class: Fire Rogue (assisted by curses-only necro)
Character Levels: 30
Farthest Quest: Blade of the Old Religion
Farthest WP: Lower Kurast
Game Version: 'vanilla' 1.10 HC
Total MF: +233% for Isolde´s kills, +162% otherwise

@ jiansonz : I like the concept where YOU assisting Isolde and not the other way round very funny

Such is the fate of a Curse B*tch! Isolde is the killer, I am just helping her out.

Mark is the 1.10 version of Mike, my 1.09 mojomancer. Once he got his merc, I banned the use of Attack and Throw, so all kills were done by that incarantion of Isolde. Mark will fight, but his damage output will always be much lower than Isolde´s except against the biggest bosses (where Crushing Blow rules).

You know, that Static Circlet will save her if it gets 2 sockets! I can live with a sacrifice of 24% MF through NM, but probably not 48%...

Mark, on the other hand, is very unlikely to escape the Horns. Both our armors have more than 40% MF and the next step up will be a 4-socketed armor with PTopazes. That means Mark´s headgear is the next 'MF upgrade' item. By the time he reaches level 39 (when Artisan´s Great Helms can be bought from Larzuk) I should have 2 perfect topazes. That will beat the 33% circlet he has now.
d2data.net says that the monster levels in the areas I am playing in by then are way below 40, so a 3s Crown can´t drop there. Sorry, Mark!

To the assy q, I'm using claw and shield. Without a shield, you're resigning yourself to pretty much max Venom, CM, Claw Block and one of the shadows, Whereas with a shiled you keep your Dex up and can put points into other skills (CoS and fade, anyone?)

I'm no assasin expert, but most guides I read do not recommend maxing Weapon Block unless it's for PvP.

With 5 points you get a decent looking block level, more points only result in 1 or 2% more blocking.

Fought my through the second half of Act 1, stopping to do a few countess runs along the way. Dispatched Andariel with no problems so I decided to run her a few times resulting in some nice uniques, the highlights being a Crow Caw and a Spellsteal :D

Quick Question: I'm allowed to use the Decrepify charges on the Spellsteal, right?

My current strategy is to cast my spirit and wolves/bear in town with my +1 Druid Helm and Eye of Etlitch then switch to my 33%MF gloves and Duskdeep helm to do the killing. Current MF is only 101% but that seems to be adequate in terms of Andy results.

My other finds were: Sigon's Wrap, Arctic Horn, Cleglaws Pincers, Amn Rune, Brainhew and Kinemils Awl.
