Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

Not to be a naysayer, but I prefer HOW. I have made one Ribby Druid with Oak and one with HOW, and I feel that with the big LL, life isn't as big of a deal. If I lose a little life, I can usually get it all back with one Fury. I think I can get away with HOW probably because I have a few hundred +life from my charms.

I think that I am just one of those "Best defense is a good offense" types. Again it is all preference, but I don't think that the decision between the two will make or break the build.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

I just wanted to share my experience with my druid builds using this guide. After finding my first ribby and learning about how kick but it becomes when upgraded I just had to make a char to use it. I happened upon this guide and it was perfect for me. My first druid ended up with too much strength as I got more and more of the harder to find items anni and dtorch and not enough life. I also found the spirits to be near useless I had maxed HOW because of the higher life it has thinking it would stay alive a bit longer than oak which it did but I didn't find the increase in ar or damage to be that significant. So I decided on a rebuild one which could do ubers and rush if needed. I basically wanted to be able to do everything without help including phy immunes and chaos santuary.

I currently have a lvl 89 druid with 15 points added to strength and the rest in vit. I started out with 0 making up for the rest with charms but found this quite limiting in terms of inventory and decided its just not worth finding the perfect anni and torches so added the 15 and haven't regretted it at all. Because I decided not to go the spirit route I have quite a few left over skill points to play with and decided it would be fun to make a hybird rabies/fury. To make the rabies worthwhile I needed more skill points and decided that other than a few cases I didn't really use feral rage that often and with the amount of +skills I had I didn't really think maxing it out was required. So my skill points are as follows.
ww 20
lyan 20
feral rage 1
rabies 19
fury 20
poison creeper 20

My life is ~4300 without bo or oak which makes me quite stout. Ar with fury ranges from 15-20k which is sufficient and resists are currently 50-20-50-75 after conviction aura and no prebuff fade. With duel ravens the 20 cold resists isn't an issue. Poison damage is currently at 20k which is should grow quite a bit with a few more skillers.

So far I haven't been to impressed with rabies although I am still experimenting with different setups. I still have a hard time dealing with phy immunes partly because with my base dex I can't equip azurewraith and my rabies setup doesn't have the right gear yet, bramble trang ols gloves etc. I am only a few dex away from using glimmershred though which I am looking forward to trying out.

I do enjoy how aggressive you can play with this build standing in the middle of baals minions while everyone else keeps their distance. Being able to run into traventical in 8 person games and take out the counsel. Taking down Izual, or the Ancients is always good fun and one of my favorites is killing Nilithak in parties and watching everyone else die from the CE.

Mana can be an issue when encountering mana burn chars and I find myself using almost exclusively mana potions for the constant mana increase. Health potions do almost nothing and rejuves are good in a bind but are a one shot deal when dealing with mana burn chars where a mana pot will last for a few hits.

Overall its a wonderful build and my pride and joy out of all my chars.

i'm in no ladder Europe softcore.. Someone have an uped Ribcracker eth or non eth for me to trade? i O 451 psn sc... i have ribby but i want to try upped... ty

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

so i liked the guide and made a ribcracker uber druid, but i'm having a lot of trouble with uber baal. in terms of gear, i have everything the guide asks for to the letter. give or take a few % points of ed or fhr. uber mephisto and diablo are very easy for me. baal, however, is extremely difficult for some reason. last run i wasn't even able to kill him and had to quit on an open 2/3 done uber trist. I don't understand why. How do other people deal with him? When i get swamped by his vampire and specter minions, I can never maintain enough mana to keep up fury or blood rage continuously because of baal's and the specter minion's mana leech. and when i stop attacking i generally die. i use ravemfrost and a rare dual leech ring with 7life, 4mana and some AR. i have over 4k life with bo and maxed resists (especially since meph dies first so when i fight baal there's no conviction). what am I doing wrong?

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

Well, Because I am WAAAAY Smarter than everybody, in my INFINITE wisdom I made an uber druid EXCEPT I chose to use a last wish berserker axe and a phoenix shield. It's so expensive it must rock right? And whats a ribcracker do? like 150 dmg? That must be for poor people. Long story short, I hit too slow to hit anything, my char does nothing against ubers, and my friends smiter does all the work and makes me look like a jerk. Maybe I should have read to the second page of replies and discovered that an upped regular ribcracker does what? like 450 dmg? an etheral one must be pretty nice. Sooooooo, from now on I will read a little further, and I'm looking for an etheral ribcracker now. I was thinking maybe I could just use the last wish on switch to prebuff fade though. I also put like 150 points into dex for blocking, so I guess that was a waste. Too bad I'm so smart.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

That's why we don't use that omfgGoZu weapon. ;) Phoenix shield is very annoying to use as well.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

^_^ Congratulations on seeing the light.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

vilkas: The answer is simple...Blue Mana Pots. Just keep popping them as needed and you'll be fine. I typically use 2 or 3, but you may use even more until you get some practice. Engage Baal quickly and/or lure him away to limit the number of minions and pound on him with Feral Rage.

pfcchadillac: At least you can always sell off those items to get what you really need. Thanks for sharing your story; it made me laugh. It just shows that understanding game mechanics is often more valuable than deep pockets. We've all learned that lesson somewhere along the way.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

I'm thinking of trying this. But is it well for all pvm? Or more based around ubers? Because I play hc and wanna have something I can walk everywhere. :]
And will feral rage be a must?

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

It works everywhere. And Feral is a must.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

Here comes a fairly noobish q.
As I can calculate on Wereform Central you don't need any more IAS (at all) to hit 5 frames, is this correct? Why would you Shael it? It doesn't go below 5 frames, for that you need 1 more WIAS (seems really annoying).

Also, what is a 290+ non-eth Ribcracker worth?
Also, you get the socket with the quest reward right?

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

1. Unshaeled hits 10/6 Fury. Shaeld will hit 8/5.

2. Check the trade forum. They're not expensive though.

3. Yes, the first reward in Act V is a socket for any socketable item you choose.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

Ok! Thanks for the fast answer.
Also, for normal PvM, shouldn't a weapon like Cranium Basher overshine Ribcracker or does the CB actually make the Ribcracker better in general PvM?

THis is taken from TheDragons Werewolf Guide:
Shaeled Cranium Basher
Damage = 113-125.4 to 563-635.4
Standard Attack
Animation Length = 11
Damage/Frame = 10.27-11.4 to 51.2-57.76
Average = 30.73-34.58
Fury Attack
Animation Length = 39
Damage/Frame = 14.49-16.08 to 72.18-81.46
Average = 43.33-48.77

Shaeled Ribcracker
Damage = 57-66 To 146-173
Standard Attack
Animation Length = 8
Damage/Frame = 7.12-8.25 to 18.25-21.62
Average = 12.69-14.94
Fury Attack
Animation Length = 28
Damage/Frame = 10.18-11.78 to 26.07-30.89
Average = 18.12-21.34

Is that the ED isn't calculated or something else i missed?

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

Well, putting pure damage aside:

Ribby is faster, which procs CB more often.
Ribby has MUCH lower requirements to wield, allowing for more points in Vit.
Ribby makes a sexy sound on hitting.

If you're making a Titan Wolf anyways Cranium isn't a bad choice. Otherwise Ribby is better overall.

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

No Titan, I'm going HC so I will go for as much vita as possible.
Alot of vita+Oak+BO+WW feels like a nice thing for HC.
Vita calc is additive right?
So with lvl 20 BO+OAK+WW+LYCAN i will get
BO=92%
OAK=125%
WW=140%
= life*6.2 = total life (since 1.92+2.25+2.4)
Is that correct?

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

But I'm getting a little different vibes about what BO and Oak goes against.
Does it go against everything besides %max life?
Like vita and life from items?

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

Just clear it up
1 Lum Rune + 1 Pul Rune + 1 Perfect Emerald + Exceptional Unique Weapon = Elite Version of Weapon
is the recepie i want to use for my newly gotten (for free :)) Ribcracker?

Re: Ribcracker Fury Druid - Uber Killer Guide

1. Yes, it's additive.

2. Things that aren't affected:

+Vit
+Life per level

3. Yes

4. Don't triple post. Use the edit post button
