Well, got through Normal, and killed the Cow King. Still no amulet :rant: Also, my weapons still stink... I found a nice rare glaive or throwing spear... 145% ED, and good poison damage... then realized they're so slow for barbarians, they're unusable. So back to my old awful weapons, for now :) Can't wait to see how awful my resists are in NM...
 
I must say, this character has been a treat to play thus far. As long as I'm moving along at p1, monsters die in a few bone spears. Crowd control is usually not a problem with just my mercenary and golem, and the occasional bit of trouble is solved instantly with bone prison. When it comes to bosses, bone prison makes them useless, giving me all day to attack away. Even act bosses in nightmare have been unable to break out of the bone prison, making killing them a joke. Still not a single NDE - the stair trap in the ruined temple was contained with bone prisons, and nothing else even came close.

Items, unfortunately, have not been seeing many upgrades. After an endless amount of gambling, I have settled on a pair of boots.

They aren't nearly as good as I had hoped for, but at least now I do have a few more resists and FRW, and I can concentrate gambling on circlets. Killing speed is definitely declining, and a few plus skills on a circlet are going to be greatly appreciated. Now if only a decent rare wand or shrunken head would drop...

As far as items that cannot be used go, I had one incredible drop in Tal Rasha's Adjudication. Other than that, being just shy of 70 MF has led to the occasional unique and set drop. Nothing great except for that amulet, but a few extra items never hurt anyone.

I'm finding my character great to play as well, ive been running through act 1 on players 1 and holy freeze demolishes all the fallen in a throb or two and most other things have been a breeze.. had a few NDE's with the fireball mages in the barracks and as a result socketed my shield with a ral to get into the positive side of resists
no new rares to equip yet although i found a blade with chance to cast amp damage on it.. as im considering going semi-physical damage later on to handle cold immunes im hoping itll come in handy for duel immunes..

Hey Skunk and Hrus thanks for your support. I will stay in then and in the unlikely event that I win this I'll turn the prize stash over to the runner-up. I decided to keep playing the character true to the rules of this contest while I was in limbo, although I did make my left click skill lightning.

I ran diablo twice and came out with around 4 sets and a unique. So it's onto act 5.

well my javazon has just finished normal
what can i say...all bosses were tough to slay (except andy i guess)
almost died a couple of times fighting diablo and baal
the cows were really fun
one plague jav and the whole herd fell under the immense destruction of Fang's poison.
shes currently doing about 1500 poison damage

Yes we can, and it´s the same with the runes from the "rescue barbs" quest. The rules specifically say so.
 
Well I haven't played ol' LuckyCharm too much as of late, been doing some MF with my hell fishy. I have gotten into Act 3 Normal and so far nothing bad has happened. Have a nice rare Maul on my weapon switch and on P1 things die fast.

Wow, sad to see how many heros are RIP already. Condolences to all.

Didn't play over the weekend, but I got a bit in today. Finished off the summoner, and went on to Duriel. I was surprised how easy he ended up being, normally he chews up my merc but this time around (after pumping the merc full of thawing potions) the defiance merc (lvl 22 at the time) was able to tank little d relatively easily. Sure, it was p1, but even so....
Duriel dropped a rare long battle bow, horned helm, and a cleg's gloves. The gloves would have been a nice item if only she could use them....

Anyway, CrossCheck is now lvl 26 and has moved on to act III. Decided to hire a cold iron wolf because the cold damage will go nicely with the fire damage from IA, and the Valk (when she gets it) will tank well.

For me, it is a good thing this tourney isn't a race.

Score: Quests 24, WP 18, lvl -26: Total 16.
 
Jonathan has made it up to the Far Oasis WP and collected the cube, and he now has a positive score. I've started gambling circlets, since I won't be gambling for his final headgear anyhow. He hasn't had any luck so far (all magic.) He has filled up most of his slots, but is still short one ring and an amulet.

Ursula has passed everything in Act 4 except Diablo himself. Not sure if I'm brave enough to face him yet, or wait a few more levels to get a companion bear. The hellforge dropped a flawless skull, flawless topaz, and an amn rune. Woot! Now I can't wait for the socket quest... if I live to see it.

I was wondering if I use a Gem Shrine to upgrade a gem dropped from the Hellforge would I still be allowed to use it in a socket?
 
Second question, as it seems my hour to edit is up, after we unequip a gambled item can we re-equip the same item in the same spot at a later point?
 
CrossCheck made some progress today, collecting the Khalim's eye and brain in act III, as well as the Gidbinn quest.

She had a heck of a time with Stormtree though... LE/extra fast = big hurt. Once I killed all his minions I tried run and shoot tactics, but couldn't do enough damage. So I tried leading him to one side of one of the rivers, then shooting across. At about the point I got him down to 1/4 health, but his rate of regen was unbelieveable. With not hitting him more than about 1/3 arrows I couldn't do enough damage to keep up with the regen. After a while I gave up, and moved on. Then Crosscheck found a rare flail with PMH. She went back, and using the flail she went through a pile of potions to survive, but Stormtree was killed.

So, one more body part, a flail and a council, then it's on to Meph... only two more levels to Valk.... that is going to help so much.

Well Arial has just finnished normal and the cow king. Baal dropped me 3 unqiues and one set off his quest drop, man I wish those had all been failed unqiues.

Isn´t it nice when things like this work out to your advantage? But, as a bowazon, why didn´t you just hit him once with the flail, then shoot him down from across the river? That would have been far less painful.

is the FE bug in nightmare? im not blaming it on that at all (just wondering) - i managed to get one juvee down the throat yet took so many hits as i ran into some arachs that i had missed in the corner trying to get away :teeth:
im quite annoyed as i had good block, great gear (about 15% LL, Vfast attack etc), positive resists (i think about 46 for lightning) and my blessed aim merc was extremely effective and was leveling with me steadily.. we were anihilating everything up to this point.. oh well thats HC for you hehe i had a blast!

Yes it is. FE + LE (or any FE beetles) bosses are very dangerous up close.
From your description, it sounds like your were suffering the "lightning balls" the boss was spitting. No bug on those, they´re just plain nasty.

Sorry for your loss.

(but how come that this boss had three abilities? That shouldn´t happen in NM (unless it´s a superunique).

maybe discount the multishot then, must have just been 3 similtaneous shots from others.. I definetly picked out the fire and lightning though and yes indeed it was nasty! :)
