OT: Favourite games of all time? :)

I've just spent the last hour sifting through a large pile of boxes and am taking my total to 10. Starting with:

8. Homeworld. RTS in Space. In 3D. I grew to care for every little fighter as though my own relatives were flying them.

9. Sytem Shock 2. I still shudder slightly when I see a picture of a Midwife. The screams of the mutant monkeys will never leave me either. The fact that you were always low on ammunition provided almost unbearable tension.

10. Worms 2. The best post-pub game ever made. Flying Sheep, the Concrete Donkey, Banana Bombs and the Holy Hand Grenade. True weapons of mass destruction.

An idea just crossed my mind: What about if, counting the posts in this thread, we make something like "awards contest" for the Greatest Games of All time?

We can make categories, like RTS, FPS, RPG, Adventure, Action, Puzzle, Racing, Simulators, MMORPG, Do as you please (GTA-style), etc.

Also we could think about other apartments, like best music, best plot, best graphics, best original char, best all-time char (like megaman, link, sonic, mario, ryu hayabusa, etc.), etc.

We could do it through gathering some judges (the most experimented guys of the SPF, games-wise, not just D2 wise) and then counting votes to get the Greatest games ever, these judges would count votes and un-tie games if ties ever happen.

Again, just an idea (I have some ideas of how to pick judges and how many if this ever gets up, as other members I'm a player since Atari 2600). It could be done, granted that the SPF is a great community and has very much knowledge games-wise not just D2 related

DIABLO FTW!!!!!!!!!

game awards? flame on:grin:

I nominate Tales of Symphonia for best voice acting on a console! also for best RPG multiplayer control style on a console. It's like SSB melee with a story line!

But you know, websites like Game FAQs have top 10 lists all the time, are we going for the top 10 favs of D2 players then?

hehe, I used to play minesweeper so much in college (instead of writting my papers) that I'd dream the game, I still do sometimes (though I can't hold an expert level puzzle in my head anymore).

Well, yes, sites like Gamefaqs do host gameawards, but these awards would hold the preferences of the SPF, sites like gamefaqs consider the opinion of all it's visitants, but this would be exclusive (no wonder that games that are only 1-2 years old win most of the prizes, since there are lots of kids and teenagers that vote, but the SPF has lots and lots of "mature" players :wink3: , besides I have some ideas I want to share if the SPF is interested on having it's own awards )

In no order:

Civilization Series (all; especially 2 and Alpha Centauri (best $1.00 I ever spent on Amazon.com; the expansion is too expensive for me to get though)
Diablo LOD
Perfect Dark (N64)
Super Smash Bros Melee (Gamecube, regular on N64 was good also)
Warcraft III
Masters of Orion III

Hmmm

1) D2 (with LOD)
2) Everquest - quit it a couple years ago, but it was fun for over 2 years, cant' complain about a game still fun for so long
3) Enchanter/Sorceror/Spellbreaker (infocomm text adventures)
4) Planescape: Torment
5) Civilization 2
6) HalfLife
7) Jedi Knight (the first one)
8) Wing Commander 2
9) X Wing / Tie Fighter
10) Doom 2
11) Baldurs Gate
12) Daggerfall
13) Might & Magic series (adventure RPG, not the RTS)
14) Zork I, II, III (infocomm again)
15) Civilization (the windows port of the original)

I'm the only person who goes outside to play!

no youre not! i had hide and seek on my list and you have to have like a castle or something to play that indoors..

Just remembered some cool old games:
- Silver (at least I think that's the name. Twas an rpg and very nice imho)
- Duel (VERY old amiga game, extremely lousy graphics but very fun at the time)
- MicroMachines

For me it has to be...

Diablo 2 - I have spent more time on this game than any other in my life.

Elite (BBC B Micro) - the first game that really gave me a superb buzz.

Atic Atac - 48K Spectrum - The first ever game I played on my first ever home computer.

Manic Miner - 48K Spectrum - When I cracked the Eugenes Lair level for the first time gave me immence pride.

Half Life - The first, first person shooter that had the 'wow' factor for me.

Team Fortress Classic - The first multiplayer carnage game I played that I still love to this day.

Junior Pacman - A rare Pacman varient that is great fun and I still cannot get passed level 5.

Tie Fighter - Very atmospheric even now.

System Shock 2 - Still can't play this with the lights out.

Racing Destruction Set - (C64) - First proper multiplayer racing game that could be totally custom configured if you were prepared to wait for the tape loading times.

I could go on but I think I will stop there.

1.Diablo 2 lod
2.Championship manager series
3.FiFA series
4.Diablo 1
5.Age of empires series
