...but my main gripe was with the DAMN POLAR BEARS! Why are there polar bears on a desert island?! If that's been explained I apologise, I just haven't seen it yet.
Do you watch English Top Gear or do they have a bastardised (sorry if that's filtered, I meant it in the Queen's English sense of the word) American version? Jeremy Clarkson is an absolute legend over here in the UK.
Was it you [TRM] that posted Dieselboy in the music thread? I've got everything by Mitch Hedburg and a lot of stuff by Dieselboy thanks to that thread. DSL is actually what my friends and I in the McJob listen to on our way to the local D&B club after a Saturday night graveyard shift, so well done to whoever that was.
*slides a beer & a dew down the bar*
It took a while, but yeah, the bears were eventually explained. I'm not about to wet myself over it, but I do like Lost a lot. It got really good for a while. Still, I kind of wish that I didn't start watching it when I did; I should have waited 'til the show was done only so I could watch it all in a week rather than sitting around for nine months at a time waiting for new episodes. Can't complain since it's a rather compelling show. edit: I like Monk a lot, too, but haven't seen it for a couple years. Tony Shaloub does a GREAT job with that character, and his supporting cast does their job perfectly.
And yeah, we get BBC America, so we see the true British Top Gear. I saw it for the first time in maybe '06, and ever since I think that show's brilliant. I still know nothing about how cars work, but I'm more interested now than ever. Funny coincidence: the Chevy Lacetti they use for the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segments looked really familiar to me after I bought my used '06 Suzuki Forenza. I did a bit of research, and it turns out they're the same car simply branded under different names in the two countries. ...Kind of makes me feel worse about my car since all the stars say they hate driving it... Everything about the show is hilarious, though; too bad we don't get any other shows/publications with Clarkson (I DO have James May's 20th century book; dull dull dull!, haha) edit: Corolla's doing the American version?? Feh; ***-clown +1. I hope he's gonna have some good co-hosts, otherwise I might not dig it. And do you think they'll talk about Alfas here in the states like they do in the UK? I have a feeling they'll be much too biased toward American cars and Lambos/Ferraris...
Glad you've gotten some enjoyment outta my posts in the music thread. Finding new music has always been tough for me; by the time I really got into electronic music, my only friend who enjoyed it bought some turntables and went the hiphop route. Now I have to find new stuff by reading XLR8R magazine (electronic, yes; DnB, not so much) and through random downloads. Thankfully I've known about guys like Aphex Twin, Dieselboy, AK1200, and Goldie since the beginning, but everything else has been trial and error. Wish I knew of a club or two to go to, but I'm still relatively new in town have no one to go with anyway. :/ I've been meaning to find that Pendulum album you mentioned a while ago, but never get around to it.
Woah, talky talky. No more talky. I gots ta get some sleep; seeing the girlfriend for a few hours tonight. I'll leave y'all with a dance hit everyone should know:
Calvin Harris' "The Girls". Maybe this'll get some dancing going here in the EMB! This song always reminds me of when I was driving at 10 mph through a bustling summer resort town in my tan, rusted out '87 Ford Escort, banging this song at full volume. There were a couple people purely laughing at me (rightfully so!), but I even managed a few coquettish smiles from some cuties, too! Ahh, summer...
