Chilling Armor

Well, the thread wassent about cold armors, just some guide where it came up in the end.
Cant seem to remember where it were right now, but ill take a look :thumbsup:
 
I'm pretty sure it deflects physical skills (arrows, javs) completely (like negated) on a random % chance and reduces magic and elemental damage.
 
Now i have tryed it again, and i still cant get it to reduce or deflect any dmg done by spells.
 
i'm pretty sure it can deflect Mephisto's cold orb attack, I think it can deflect missile attacks that have a physical component and spells that are in the form of a bolt. The reason it won't help against fireball is due to splash damage, which is the same for other spells that have splash damage like glacial spike and freezing arrow I believe.

Thanks, I am just going by what I have noticed after countless runs with many different sorceresses with various stat/skill point distributions and ones with and without block, ES and the varying cold armours (although not necessarily all together of course :laugh:)

If in doubt and you have spare points, I would go chilling just for style points :grin:



 
Guys and gals, please stop the "maybe" posts. Currently reading through this, there is not much evidence of what is possible with Chilling armor at all!
Just see the last post before me "... cold ball can be blocked with a shield..."

Either come up with evidence or wait for someone else to do so. Otherwise this thread is just adding up to all kind of myths. Thank you. I know this thread is maybe old, but still :)
 
I just did some testing with my sorc.
She has 24% block with spirit shield, and she doess block some of mephistos
cold attack!

Next time you might test for your self befor you make me look crazy.:wave:
 
I thought it was common knowledge that Meph's cold ball could be blocked...

As for getting any testing of the actual effects of the cold armors, I referred to this thread in the Stats Forum and got little more than a gameplay testimonial from RTB (refer back to post #38 in this thread). Maybe you would have better luck getting the attention of someone with time to test/code-dig, melianor?

This seems like something SSoG would know about...

Summerfun, sorry i was phrasing my post wrongly. I actually wanted to put your statement forward as the correct statement and NOT the wrong statement. I am well aware of the fact that the cold ball can be blocked with shields.

I was more pointing towards the " ... might deflect ..." statements. Your's is clear and well documented. Sorry for the confusion.
