ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I don't think Gomule shows it, at least I think someone told me that. Either way, I've just used atma for it. There are a couple other things that only atma can do, but they're not very important most of the time.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I play 1.13c and I remember the first time I opened up ATMA, i opened up my char and it said 1.11 at the bottom (I know it doesn't natively support 1.13), but when I closed ATMA, the auto-save feature was enabled. In this circumstance, would it really matter since it's basically doing a forward time travel I guess? and what would happen if someone were to open a 1.09 char and it by mistake auto-saved to 1.11 (Even though ATMA does support 1.09 natively)?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

After taking a long break, I am having some trouble with the RWM for mac. I am running 1.13, and when I tried to make Insight, my only reward was a gemmed Bec-de-Corbin. I should note that when I played D2 last (some months ago) I could make these runewords fine, so I'm a bit frustrated as to why it won't work now.

According to the guide, all I do is unzip the file, then drag it into my D2 folder, is that right? Is it possible that there is something in my folder from a previous patch that I need to remove? I am completely compute illiterate, so any help would be great.

Also, if I get it right, will my gemmed Bec just turn in to a proper Insight, or will I have to make a new runeword to check?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Shiftycent, I don't have a mac. But the gemmed Bec will not turn into an Insight when you get it working. The RWM has to be active when you made the runeword. It won't change any existing gemmed item.

No, this is false.

If you make the runeword right, it will automatically convert once you get RWM installed properly. I have seen it with my own eyes.

@shiftycent: maybe you are just not using the right shortcut for the game? make sure the desktop shortcut has "-direct -txt" after the command line. I also don't use a mac so I hope that is the same as PC. If it is done right and you take a screenshot, it will end up in the runewords folder and not in the main directory, that is another way to test it.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I just want to give a verbal hug to Doc Tenshi, Silo and Randall, without Atma/Flavie/Gomule D2 sp with its eternal non-ladder would be hell on earth.

And another hug for the coding of Gomule, did you know it can load 110 characters at once on a pentium 4 without crashing? And Atma, it can do a dupecheck on 110 chars + 20 stashes without crashing? I love you all <3

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Does anyone know how to convert a 1.10a mule to 1.10s? I tried to put it into the 1.10s folder and opening it in diablo but it opens up empty. I read something about an utility in ATMA (ATS?) but I am not really sure how it works. Any help appreciated thanks!

There is a utility that will convert your 1.10a mules/stashes to 1.10s. It is called ATS (i.e 1.10"a" "to" 1.10"s") and it is now part of the ATMA distribution. It should reside in the same folder as the ATMA executable.

I'm not sure if that means that the 1.13c version of ATMA already has it or you have to download it separately. Make a backup just in case and try both, the one in the ATMA folder first, if there, then download and try the one below if that does not work.

Link from the ATMA page:

I never used it, but I'm hope it's straight forward enough.

Already, i'm confused now on what's happing so let's see if anyone here can give me an answer.

I've got a new pc with windows7 on it. Didn't get D2 running at first. After moving the install from the place where it automaticly installs to a different folder it worked. Patched up to 1.13c. Now working and no disc needed anymore. Installed RWM and suddenly it won't play anymore without me using the expansiondisc. If i use the disc it does play.

Haven't checked if the RWM is active (have yet to move my atmastashes), but i've installed it before and the instructions are quite clear so i don't expect any trouble in that department.

So does anybody have an idea what's going on here. And more importantly on how i can get it to run without inserting the expansiondisc each time i want to play.

Did you try copying all the files from both CDs to the folder?

Sorry for the very late reply Cyrax. I was hoping that after you checked your runewords you would have edited your post to say that it was fixed.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Thanks for the reply Ladvarian, RobbyD has already pointed me in that direction and I have resolved the issue already. Thanks anyway!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

GoMule is giving me an error when trying to save files, and any character transfers will therefore not work.

Initially, I couldn't find my .d2s files but browsed around for solutions. I made 'hidden' folders viewable, and copied the save files into the appropriate Diablo 2 file, which allows me to open the characters in GoMule.

Anyhow how do I fix this? I'll try to find some solutions in the meanwhile. Thanks in advance.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Windows 7 or Vista I presume?

The reason for your trouble is Microsoft's added security features that made their first appearance in Vista. Windows no longer allows a non admin running programs to change files/folders in the 'Program Files' folder. You found your saves (.d2s) files in a virtual folder which is where Windows puts them to preserve functionality with older programs while still keeping the Program Files folder safe.

As for a solution you have two easy safe options:
1) Leave/move-back your saves into the virtual folder and change them with GoMule from there
2) Install/move the entire Diablo II folder outside the 'Program Files' folder, to say C:\Games\Diablo II, thus eliminating the hassle all together

If this is not the solution giving the exact error will help us solve the problem.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Just finished Act 3 in Hell and opened ATMA to move some items into storage, when it tells me that the file is corrupt. I closed ATMA and reopened Diablo II and my char is fine with all the items still there. But ATMA still will not open the file. In fact, if I click to open the char and then click "no" when it asks if I want to proceed even though the file may be corrupt it still proceeds to open the file and crash ATMA.

I am using windows XP. Anyone else had this happen?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Did your good friend Meph happen to drop you a shiny essence? Because if you haven't gotten the fix for ATMA then essences will corrupt things.

The ATMA fix should be on page 1 BTW.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Edit: Nevermind, I got it working. Have a level 13 Meditation on it...just my luck >_>.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Allright, seems like i'm back with more windows 7 trouble.

Tried to open an ATMA-stash and it gave me the following warning:
The item data in this file may be corrupt. Do you want to continue loading?

If i say i want to open it enough times it will. Including all items it seems. The number of times i have to press 'yes' to open it seems to depend on how many items the system thinks may be corrupt (for 1 stash i only have to do that a few times, with another i have to do this like 10 times before it opens).

I'm pretty sure this is a windows 7 problem since the exact same stashes (got 3 that give this warning; others are working fine) on my old comp are giving no trouble at all. Also this is not a essence problem since i'm certain that in at least 1 of those 3 stashes there's no essence (and i've applied the fix).

Note: none of my characters have this problem. Only a few stashes.

So far it seems (can't be sure though) to do no harm except annoy the heck out of me, but i hope somebody can give me a solution to this problem nevertheless.

When you say you've 'applied the fix' did you do it manually or is this the ATMA for 1.13c that Thyiad has on her website? The one for 1.13c that is from Thyiad does not need to be patched or installed to work for 1.13c.

Since these stashes open with XP fine compare the number of items that are listed. If there are not a lot of items go through them alphabetically and see which ones are giving you the trouble.

If you can make backup copies of the stashes and try opening them in GoMule see if they open. I have not used ATMA in a while, but if you can post any other info as in the exact error item number if there is any. I know that a GoMule readout of why it will not open will probably explain more, hopefully.

Which patch are these items from? Since you mention the essences are all the stashes from 1.13c? I know that ATMA has some difficulty with 1.07 items like the of freezing mod, iirc.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

@Ladvarian: I still had the files from before it became an integrated solution. That's why i had to do it manually. Just to be certain it was done well, i now installed the one from the first post of this thread. Still get the error though.

Hadn't installed GoMule yet. Did that just now and the stashes open without any problem.

The opening them on both pc's to compare the numbers was a good idea. Both of them show the same number of items. So it seems like all items are there. When i did this i didn't close the infobar in ATMA which usually is the first thing i do and i noticed i did get some errormessages there that give some more information.

All items are from versions 1.11 - 1.13.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm not sure why you are getting these errors ATMA was updated for 1.11 a long time ago. Granted I've never bothered to pickup the keys that drop from The Countess, The Summoner or Nilathak so I'm not sure if these are the exact reason. However, those names, pk1 and pk2, are the names the game gives to the keys for Uber Tristram. If you do an ATMA drop search for the keys the names are listed in parentheses, example: Key of Terror (pk1). If you have any of these keys move them to another stash and see if that helps. I'm still unsure why you get those errors on both versions of ATMA, unless that is common error, but no one talks about it.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Gave re-installing another go and this time it fixed most of the problems.
Only trouble i still had, had to do with the essences. Noticed in the first post of this thread that i shouldn't keep them in a stash, but on a character. So with GoMule i moved them to a character (they didn't display in ATMA) and the problem was solved. Weird that i didn't have any trouble with that on my old pc, but at least everything is working fine now.
