error on gomule

For some reason when ever I open a character in gomule, it shows an error screen. I've read the guide and I couldn't find anything about errors. Any help please? Thanks

Do these happen when you open GoMule or are these from the message tab after you open your character? Does your character say disconnected?

This sounds like a win7/vista problem. Are you using the Save folder inside the Diablo 2 folder? Or the Virtual Folders?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\save
or
C:\Users\Login_Name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\save

Navigate there with hidden files/folders showing. Eliminate the x86 if you need to, ie your system is not 64 bit. For the second one change Login_Name to what you used as your name to log in to the computer.

If you want painless use of GoMule and ATMA then I'd suggest reinstalling Diablo 2 outside of the Program Files folder after you make a backup of your saves. When you are asked where to install Diablo 2 change it to
C:\Games\Diablo II
or something like that.

If you encounter a snag in my steps or need something explained please let me know.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

hello. i am new here also to diablo:lod v1.13 (start like 3,4 days ago) single player

i just download ATMA V for more stash place, very nice, i like it, i move couple of items inside, (not very sure i can get them out or not) although this is not my problem.

i need someone to tell me how to people trade here?

is it we send our stash file to others? and people sends us back?

and this is how things work, means that i can still keep the item i want to trade, and giv...... ??? sorry, somebody please tell me! thank you very much!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Here is the Single Player Trade forum:
http://www.purediablo.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=100

Please note that there is a sticky about the rules, read them carefully as they are ALL important.

In short, we trade via ATMA/Gomule stashes emailed. Yes you technically could keep both items, but technically you could do a lot of dishonest things with your items, all of which will get you banned if you try to trade here with them. If you want to trade here, you should also make an introduction thread about yourself, as it makes people feel a bit more comfortable with you sometimes.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Anyone else have weird stats for merc AR? This is what my GoMule shows:

Naked/Gear
Strength: 206/211
Dexterity: 167/197
HP: 2190/2240
Defense: 1600/3413
AR: 2081/470306

His gear is:
Insight eth thresher
Glad bane
Crown of Thieves

...which isn't anything special, at least no +468k AR bonus as far as I can tell.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

dishonest about my items? erm...... cant think of any :D

Thank you for helping me, Kestegs!

that's all i want to know about trading right now!
not quite ready to trade yet!

so is it people can just give away their whole stash and everybody can have everything?

edit: after exploring ATMA once again...

i try to turn a potion to two potions, and it works without me paying . what is this all about?

There are plenty of ways to duplicate items in single player, that's all um saying. You can give away a whole stash, many people do that when they quit.

@Helvete: I've never trusted the ar on mercs or characters, it has been wrong a lot of times for me.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Well, not that it matters, he's for CS runs with hdin, so there's no immune monsters for him to *need* to kill. But I should think his AR without gear is ok, since that should be a matter of diff hired and merclvl only. I have a hard time believing the second number for AR, though... Looks very much like a bug with gomule.

Wrong place to ask this, but to clarify. Usually in a give away someone will list all their items that they want to give away and others kindly ask for certain items. It is usually first come first serve. The original owner has to delete the stash once he/she receives verification that the item was received by its new owner. Once the item is traded or given away to someone it is no longer available to be given away or traded. Unless the new owner decides to trade it or give it away. Then the process repeats.

This type of item creation is not supported here and will get you into trouble whether or not you trade with the SPF. Your best bet is just to mule on or off items, by 'drag and drop' and not bother with the other 'features' of ATMA.

Please read the SPF FAQ thoroughly and ask Thyiad the SPF Mod if you have any more questions about any of the rules. Her e-mail is in the SPF FAQ and once you get 10 posts you will be able to Personal Message her.

Thank you for explaining to me and your friendly advice!

Sorry about bringing up those stuff, please remove if neccessary.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hey guys..

I just started with SP recently.. and my first download was Atmas (which runs perfectly fine). I just heard about run counters and the only one I found seems to run with (or maybe just made by the same person) as GoMule. (Silospen's Run Counter)

Either way.. for both programs it wont let me see updated characters in my files?

It has one character (a level 6 assy) who is now 66, and it has none of my other characters including 7 mules, and a 60 sorc.

When I manually look at the same folder on my PC it shows all the saved files for all those character... but Gomule and Silospen's run counter doesn't have those.

Any clues why?

-edit-

Okay... so I double checked just to make sure after posting this. And now none of those files are in the Diablo II/Save/ folder. I checked atma's to make sure the file path was the same and it is. I checked it manually again and they were gone.

I freaked out and checked the game itself and all my characters are there... But I can't find the actual .d2s files on my computer...however atmas is still reading them?

This doesn't make any sense to me at all.

-edit2-

Doing a manual search on my computer finds the character file (says the path is what I expect "Programs\Diablo II\Save\charactername.d2s". When I click "Open File Location" windows can't find it and prompts me to browse for it myself...

What on earth is going on...?

@Above: Don't install to the default folder, windows will try to protect it from "unauthorized" access. I'm not too good with windows, but try to uncheck boxes for write/read protection and hidden status.

Ah Win7/vista the love of my life. ;p Microsoft starting with windows vista introduced a 'protection scheme' to keep the Program Files folder from being modified by just anyone or any program. In order to keep program compatibility with older programs they needed to create a place for games like Diablo 2 that insist on saving character files in the Program Files folder so they created Virtual Folders.

To find your saves enable hidden files/folders and navigate to this folder. Replace Login_Name with the name you chose to enter for your account. If your windows version is not 64-bit you will not need the (x86).
C:\Users\Login_Name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\save

You can safely use the saves in the Virtual Folders if you like and ATMA/GoMule will work. As for a permanent fix to avoid Virtual Folders permanently helvete is correct that you can install Diablo 2 outside the Program Files folder say into C:\Games Once that is done you will not have to use the Virtual Folders again.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I made my own thread but taking advice from another, I am posting here! So here is my GoMule problemo:

"Combobreaker.d2s" is NOT read only, and has become unwriteable. It is locked on "Last modified: 8/29/11". So even though GoMule can look at my char, it cannot change it in-game. Now I can remove the .d2s files from save, and continue to level/make in-game changes and they save, but not to the combobreaker.d2s. I recently changed my notifications so I am going to revert back to my old security settings and see if that fixes it...

*FIXED*

Yeah... that was it. I was not running the game as administrator so Diablo was unable to make changes to other files!

Question: is it possible to change the location of the D2 save folder? The reason I ask is I am about to install a new SSD in my PC, and I'd like to install D2 on the SSD, but put the save folder on the HDD to avoid excessive writes to the SSD. Mind you, doing this may undo any benefit of installing D2 on the SSD, so it might be worth leaving it installed where it is on the HDD.

Yes, it certainly is possible to alter the save path for Diablo II; however, doing so requires altering the registry entry for Diablo II, and is in fact the method TrenShadow uses to have multiple directories for different versions. Here is the method to alter the save folder -- please note that altering the registry shouldn't be an issue in this circumstance, but must always be done with the utmost care. Backing up the registry for safety is never a bad move.

  1. Run 'regedit' from the run/search area at the start menu.
  2. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Blizzard Entertainment
  3. Click the 'Diablo II' folder to get a list of registry variables for Diablo II
  4. Right-click on 'Save Path' and alter to point to the folder on your HDD

If you cannot see the Blizzard Entertainment section under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, try looking under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Also, make sure the folder you point to actually exists or I believe Diablo II will automatically point back to the Install Directory for saved games.

As for the query of whether or not it will be faster, I'm not entirely sure, but I would guess that overall it will be quicker to load areas and initialize the game. I'm not entirely sure what the overall benefit to such a scenario would be (certainly, if you notice a significant improvement in initial load time you could speed up your MF/rune/etc runs).

If I were going to install Diablo II onto an SDD, this is certainly the route I would take. You get to minimize the load on the SDD while still utilizing it's speed.

This is happening to me also. Here is what I did. I am hoping someone can help me.

1. Downloaded GoMule
2. Tried to install GoMule and got the error above.
3. Downloaded the latest version of Java
4. Tried to install GoMule and got the error again.
5. Uninstalled Diablo per a post above that said it needs to be in another directory other than program files directory
6. Forgot to save my level 26 barb. Sadpanda.jpg
7. Reinstalled Diablo+LOD+1.13 patch on the directoy c:\Games\Diablo2
8. Tried to install GoMule and received the same error again.
9. Got really frustrated and decided it was safer to just go to bed rather than smash my computer. :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
