Re: Problems installing RWM

Welcome! Read the stickies, they do help - they're at the top of the thread list. There you will also find an ATMA/Gomule help thread.

Have fun during your stay :)

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Okay so I'm trying to download the RWM and everything is fine until it tells me what do I want to open RWM with. What should I use to open it? Or should I just save the file into my Diablo II folder?
Try 7zip and it should open just fine. I've heard that some are able to rename the extension to .zip instead and it opened. You could also try another archive utility I just opened it in Peazip and it opened just fine. I'm not sure if that is the best zip utility, but I got used to it after using it on my thumb drive as a portable app. Once you have it open there is a read-me and an image that shows you how to install it. Anymore questions please post here.

All of this frustration stemmed from a failed insight I tried to make. It was a polearm so I didn't mess up on that I know, but one thing I'm not sure of is if the item changes to the desired runeword after the RWM installation "correctly" works. (i.e-when I open a new game after it FINALLY works will my gemmed polearm now be an insight or do i simply have to re-make it?

I've just tried every single thing I can and now I seek the wisdom of the forum gods. If ya can help, PM me, just don't tell me to go back to page 1 of this thread and follow the guide because it's not working for me, plain and simple.
Do not delete it and try again. It will become insight once you get the RWM working correctly. Here are a few thoughts that you might want to try...
1. Are you sure your using a polearm and not a spear? Check the wiki and the name of the weapon.
2. Are the runes in the correct order?
3. Is the item grey? Or is it blue or yellow? Runewords will only work in grey items.
4. Can you make any other runewords such as Edge? Tir+Ral+Amn in a 3 socket bow? You can shop for a bow in Act I normal from Chasi and socket it.
5. Which OS are you running? And patch are you running? Make sure that you have the correct RWM version for the patch you are running.

I can't install RWM because 7-Zip can't open the .7z archive (RWMfor113c.7z). All I get is a pop-up saying "Incorrect command line". This is after uninstalling and re-installing 7-Zip, and downloading RWM multiple times. Same thing every time.
I'm unsure about why you get this, I just tried downloading it and opening it with peazip and it opened just fine. Are you just double clicking on the file or are you trying to open 7zip and then open it? Does this happen with other files or just the RWM? Which OS do you have, though that might not matter it would not hurt in case someone else has a similar problem with 7zip. I'd say try another archive utility and see if that helps. You might also want to clear out your cache of your browser and try downloading it again. You might be re-downloading the same thing over and over again.

Thanks for the help Lad, I feel so stupid.....thinking I could make an insight in a spetum, when I should of just waited for a partizan or an "actual" polearm to make it. Yup, that was the whole problem haha. I was able to make an Edge to confirm I had RWM working correctly. That couldn't of been an easier way to fix it, and I'm glad it works now, so thank's again and I appreciate it, now i'm off to make some ladder runewords yeeeeehaww.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

btw, was there any no-cd mod for 1.07 LOD that was allowed?

Also, GoMule did NOT work with 1.07?

Quick question,

With ATMA it was possible to rename your character (say you didn't like the name, or it was no longer appropriate given the ability to 'respec' as introduced in 1.13c.

Is this possible with GoMule as well? I haven't been able to find an option to do this.

Cheers,

Actually no I believe there is no option to do this. I'd be careful doing it in ATMA as well. I do not believe that admins favor the option lightly as one could copy a character and rename them easily.

There is no patch or mod that I know of that is forum approved.
GoMule was for 1.10 onward and expansion only iirc.

Thanks for the advice, I haven't done it in the past, just knew it was an available option, didn't know the mods frowned upon but I do suppose it makes sense.

I guess I'll wait until a mod gives approval or disapproval before I decide on doing anything.

No. 1.11 onwards.

GoMule cannot do it. ATMA still can. There is/never has been any forum/SP(T)F Mod disapproval of the practice. Pretty low down on the list of cheese really.

(EDIT: Obviously if you rename it to something offensive and post it, we shall be having a discussion about it. :p I'm sure you wouldn't but it has been done.)

You do need to make sure you don't create a duplicate but that goes with anything. Renaming the .d2s file is not sufficient. You have to use the only remaining edit button in ATMA.

Thanks for the clarification Thy. I always thought it was one of those better safe not to do anyway, that is why I suggested not doing it. I will remember this for next time I'm asked.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Didn't bother to read all posts only the first and last page, so if this is not new then please Thyiad put it on the first post.

There is a bug in the bank. It doesn't recognize that the gold stash in 1.13 is maxed from the start.

And a question to Thyiad: I haven't cubed any respec tokens yet, but I've transfere the essences on and out of stash with no ill effects. Is the warning only for the token and if so can they be transferred from character to character?

I may not be Thy, but I can answer all your questions for you.

First the bug in the bank is a known problem. With 1.13 the max gold was set to a fixed amount rather than a per level basis. GoMule was not updated to enable that only the tokens.

The respec tokens in stashes is a warning so that if you ever plan to open the stash with ATMA nothing bad happens. ATMA corrupts stashes with tokens in them. If you NEVER open the stash in ATMA you are fine, but having the option to open the stash in ATMA if something decides that it will not open in GoMule for some reason is nice. I would create a character to just hold the tokens just in case, but its your call.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I haven't read through the posts, so if something like this has been covered before, I apologize.

I'm using ATMA to help move some items, and it's been working fine since I installed it on Saturday, but a little while ago it started screwing up. I tried to move some items from my sorcereress's bank into the mule, and on ATMA it shows up as having been transferred, but when I log onto my character it hasn't. so I thought maybe ATMA just screwed up and went to see if it had been undone but it was still showing the items as having been moved. I then deleted my save directory and replaced it with a copy I had made earlier before I started moving items, and reloaded my characters on ATMA. it showed them like they had been before I started moving items around, but I had the same problem again when I tried moving the items. does anyone know what happened and/or how to fix this problem?

edit: I want to say, my save directory when this happened was also a copy. I don't know if this is relevant at all, I just wanted to throw it out there though
edit 2: also, when I go to file, load .d2s file, and then back out to look at my save file, it has a lock symbol over the icon

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Does anyone know where to get patch 1.13b?

Unfortunately, the patch was downloaded and patched right from the servers only as far as I remember. So you might have to run trenshadow to play it. I'd pm mattinm and see if he can provide a link to the 1.13b patch files. All I'm finding is 1.13a and prior from this link... http://www.purediablo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=752672

Good luck and it should be possible as long as someone saved their files after patching to 1.13b before they patched to 1.13c.

Have you moved those files from another computer using burned CD?

I remember that windows had problems on marking every file that was copied from burned CD as read-only.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hmm. Just downloaded GoMule wanting to store essences(managed to destroy some with ATMA)

But seriously, how do I move stuff from a character to stashes? I can get the essences onto the clipboard but I can't interact with the new stash I created for them? It shows (disconnected) after the stashes name. Am I doing something wrong?

-iame

Edit: Got it working, Project preferences set to SC only didn't like to work.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

No, I was using a flash drive

Which version of Windows do you have? If it is Vista or 7, then I may have an answer for you. Starting with Windows Vista, continuing into 7, MS decided not to allow programs to change files in the Program Files directory easily.

Try these things since you have a backup...
1) If you are running version 1.12+ try moving the install folder outside of the program files folder. Say your my documents folder
2) Your real saves might be actually in a virtual folder. Enable hidden folders and files and search for .d2s files. You should see a folder that is also called Program Files, but this one is inside your user folder not just under the C drive. If you see the saves in there these should be your real saves.

If you want to make life easier on yourself try installing/moving the install folder outside as stated in above so you do not have these headaches of running Diablo2 in Vista/7. Once moved out of the program files folder everything should run just fine and ATMA/GoMule should be able to read and change the files just fine. If you are running XP or are aware of this sorry, but thought I'd try to help.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

yeah, thanks Lad, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game in a different location, and so far it seems to be working

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I just had to install whole LoD again and now 1.13c doesn't start without install disk in drive. What gives? I have Vista in use and RWM.

EDIT: More problems. The auto map turns itself on and off. When I hit a monster it turns off and if I hit another monster it turns back on. I'm totally clueless what could cause that.
