Agreed re: Council >LK after a certain point in a D2 career. I would argue that every D2 player could use three Chams before you start get into using it in Runewords: Harle (for pit zerker, Trav runner); Andy's Visage; and Guillaume's Face.
I don't know if I'm down to commit that level of resources on my mercenaries; let me live a little.

That BOTD is fantastic. Anything with >1K max damage on screen is amazing.

And yet another crazy series of drops. I usually have pretty below average luck at LK. My excuse for grinding there is generally that I'm looking for crafting materials. That all changed this morning. I was having some coffee while mindlessly opening superchests and found 2 Surs and a Vex within about an hour. Talk about luck, I haven't found any HR's there in weeks! I cubed those Surs to a Ber and made an enigma with the Jah I found a while ago in a perfect defense 3 socket mage plate I've been saving. The roll on the armor was pretty awful, but no big deal. Holy shield buffs defense a ton anyway. I was thinking about builds I could use it with, so I took a look at my skill charms and it turned out I've found 6 pally combat gcs. I took the generic route and made a hammerdin out of an old lonely paladin I haven't played in a while. 12k hammers makes for a pretty aggro hammerdin! I managed 125% fcr with 288 mf and mostly pretty alright resists.

I dunno, that would make a pretty sweet hat for a act2 HF merc, maybe... Or an act3 cold merc, if that's your thing
I'm going the A3 cold merc route with the Auradin I'm planning. I figured, with the pally sporting a high level conviction, a high-roll Eth Nightwings (with facet), good cold damage Ormus (with facet), VoR sword, and either Spirit or cold facet socketed shield might make the A3 merc . . . somewhat strong?

It's part of a project to use non-A2 mercs, so not worried as much about whether another merc type would be better.
