23 Runeword Search Thread

Cherokee: just to let you know, since i have been updating the spreadsheet for my own use after everypost (that is how i know), you forgot to do eth ko in an orb, also if it is your lack of orbs that is slowing you down i have some more

Goodness, there's over a hundred pages. Has there been a single success at all? I'm thinking not because otherwise there'd be lots of news.

Edit:

Nevermind, found the update thread. :)

Ghist: Good thing to do man! I applaud you.

Cher0kee your thingy makes much more sense now; I think it is a good idea and not too unwieldly; I like it.

It's ok if the spreadsheet isn't updated every single day... wathombe has a real life, as many (but not all) of us do, and sometimes gaming just has to take a back seat. I think we all owe wathombe a huge debt of gratitude for what he's done here the past many months. If he does decide to replace the spreadsheet with a web based system, I'm sure it will be because he recognizes the many advantages, and not because he isn't willing to continue shouldering the responsibility.

Very nice job cherokee, though I would definatly make it password protected if it will be launched. Too many people are devious enough to enter false information.

Also, you may want to add a "submit error" option that would be sent to you via e-mail or similar as people will be making making mistakes and this would be an easier solution than you having to go through the list each week and filter out the bad words.

Nice though, I like the idea.

Yes, I was thinking people could just post here in this thread if they make an error. I could correct it pretty easily from there.

Actually AMN/RAL was tested in a Hammer. sorry for the error.

Hey, gang, sorry to disappear for a few days. It was my wife's b-day on Friday, and we pretty much made a four-day celebration out of it. I should have given some warning. I'm catching up on posts and the spreadsheet now, and will get a weekly update out this afternoon or tomorrow morning. My biz slows to a crawl this week, so I should have time. I still haven't had a chance to check out Cherokee's fab web app for myself yet. ;)

More later...

Updated: wathombe's runeword spreadsheet

Apologies again for the lack of updates over the weekend. A few low items got double-tested (including RalNef in a hammer THREE times).

Checking out the web app now...

EDIT:

Cherokee:

The web app is very nice--easy to use, easy to read, concise, and clean. I would second the need to password the site, as we've seen (*COUGH* pilfered mules *COUGH*) the depths to which some will stoop to impede our progress. Certainly this would be a MUCH easier way to track 3os+ grids.

There are things, however, that the spreadsheet contains that can't be included in that basic format: acronym pages, Warcraft clue pages, member lists, et cetera, so you'd either need to add more pages to a site, or I'd need to continue to track specialized tests of that sort. The "% complete" stat is also a very popular feature that we wouldn't want to lose.

As for my personal feelings, I'm a control freak at heart, so I'm sure I'd get the jitters a bit turning over my sacred charge as runeword scribe to either another single person or the community at large. I'm sure I'd get over it, though. To be perfectly honest, my time commitment to the hunt went way down in late October when GTA:SA came out, so it certainly wouldn't be fair of me to stand in the way of change. If I weren't keeping the grids anymore, I must admit that it's quite possible that I'd slip away entirely (at least until I finish the story missions in GTA), although probably not permanently. If I do disappear into the mists, though, remember me when y'all finally crack this ****er. ;)

Hhmmm.... Wathombe likes Cherokee's web app.
But there are things that aren't there.
But he thinks it is a good idea.
But he sees the need to continue his spreadsheet.
But he doesn't want to lose control.
But he says he can accept change.

I guess that is a firm answer :)........or not. :(

Cherokee, is there a way to 'erase' misclicks so we don't have to have you always cleaning up our little messes?
