Just a thing about Act 4. Were you golem-scouting? I.e. casting the golem ahead of you before moving to see if he attracts any fire? You can usually suck a few enemies towards you using that without having to move.

Yep, that's all Act 3 and Act 4 have been haha, Golem scouting =D And man, it was so much more pleasing than running face first into a pack of those Undead Bang Bang Dolls xD Well, not so much scouting in Act 4, I really should of been, and that's why I probably had more NDE's than I needed to hah xD

And thanks, I just beat Shank's ugly face in after fighting my way through hordes of Burning Dead Archers and those Thorn Beasts from Act 3, (I have to say I like the visitors from other Acts, while it does make it more challenging, it adds variety and helps alleviate some of the staleness of redo-ing Act 5 =D) and so close.. but so far.. I am afraid I am going to rush it at some point, and, not so good things will happen hah. xD

Bone_Wrap has killed the ancients and is sitting in Harrogath waiting until morning before going back to the WS Keep level two way point.

This was my gift from Anya. The +2 necro skills made it an obvious choice over a shield with three perfect diamonds. I used the socketing quest on it and got one socket, so a perfect diamond helped the resists too.

I've never played a Bone Necro before, and since you guys are doing so well, I have a few questions.

I ask because I'd contemplated just maxing Bone Spear along with Bone Wall and then perhaps working on Bone Prison, using the safety spells given that it's HC (and restricted HC at that). What advantages does Bone Spirit provide (aside from self targeting) and are there any spots in the game where having it over Bone Spear is insanely more beneficial?

Second, and lesser question leading off that...is everything prisonable? Of course teleporters can just jump out, but are certain monsters immune to Bone Prison (SUs/bosses/frenzytaurs?)

My skill placement:

• Bone Spear 20 (32) - 1684-1780 Magic Damage
• Bone Wall 20 (28) - 4245 Life
• Bone Prison 20 (28) - 4064 Life
• Corpse Explosion 20 (28) - 11.6 Yard Radius
• Bone Armor 1 (13) - Absorbs 740 Damage
• Teeth 3 (11)
• Clay Golem 3 (5) - Even with these few points, it lasts for around 7-10 seconds in Hell, and is very useful for scouting ahead = )
• Golem Mastery 3 (5)
• Summon Resist 1 (4)

Personally, I don't see any advantage with Bone Spirit, and I would rather have the protection offered by Bone Prison strengthening my Bone Wall and Bone Armor.

And as for order of skill placement I went: 3 Teeth--> 1 Bone Armor --> 5 Corpse Explosion --> 10 Bone Wall --> Max Bone Spear --> Max Bone Wall --> Max Corpse Explosion --> Max Bone Prison --> 3 Golem 3 Golem Mastery 1 Summon Resist = )

As for boxing things in, personally I am more used to using Bone Wall, because sometimes (at least for me) Bone Prison leaves some gaps open for monsters to still charge me. And I don't like that hah, I would rather spend more mana and just spam the screen with Bone Walls, trapping everyone in place while I pick off enemies and the explode the corpses = )

Enemies that can bypass Bone Walls/Bone Prisons:

• Undead Vultures: (Stupid flying birds in Act 2 and Act 3)
• Gloom Bats: (If they attach to the ceiling, which they do when they start loosing too much health.)
• Gloams: (In their moving/invisible form, they just float through the walls
• Leapers: (They will leap over the Walls, but they rarely are a true threat to your health and are easily dispatched.)
• Ancients: (Although I believe the Thrower's attacks are stopped by Bone Walls/Bone Prisons, but they can just walk through the Bone Walls/Bone Prisons.)

Enemy Attacks that bypass Bone Walls/Bone Prisons:

• Slingers: (Javelin throwing Cats, their Javelins fly over.)
• Gloams: (Their Chain Lighting bypasses Walls/Prisons, however other Chain Lighting casting enemies, (Ex. The guys who heal Zealots) Their Chain Lighting is stopped by Walls/Prisons.)
• Oblivion Knights: (Bone Spirit bypasses Walls/Prisons)
• Diablo: (Pink Lighting, River of Fire, and Ring of Fire Attacks bypass)
• Pit Lords: (Their Inferno goes over Walls/Prisons)
• Flayer Shamans: (Inferno, same deal)
• Baal: (All attacks bypass)

I think that is all, but I could be wrong. = )

Also for kicks, Magic Immune Monsters:

• Horadrim Ancients: (And any of their ilk)
• Plague Bearers
• Wailing Beasts

And that's all I've seen so far hah.

I'm proceeding similar to what you have said, except I haven't started blowing up corpses yet so CE is still at lvl 1. I've maxed Spear and have almost maxed Wall, Prison will be next for the same armour reason you mentioned.

Bugger! I was spearing a bosspack from a safe distance in the Catacombs level 3 when something exciting happened on TV, I glanced up for about 2 seconds, glanced back, saw the life bulb plummet alarmingly, and got to the full purple in time, but apparently not, RIP. A death due to cockiness.

It was a LECE ghoul, but he must have moved just as I looked up as I had been safely parked out of his spark-stream. When I say I got to the purple in time, I pressed it, saw my bulb go up a fraction then got the deeds message. I don't really understand what happened though, because it was a full purple but didn't heal me completely (although there was a noticeable rise in the bulb). Oh well, I deserved to die anyway through another moment of madness. It seems my theme of this tournament.

My first ethereal unique. Good blocking and lightning resist ... I think I'll keep this stashed away for the time being and bring it out against Mephisto and then the Act IV Gloams. Also in Upper Khurast I found an ethereal bone shield, which looks better than my ethereal buckler. And charged strike is killing things so quickly at the moment that my armour isn't losing much durability.

I've been spending all my money for the past act-and-a-half gambling for belts (I could do with the extra potion space as much as the useful magical properties I could get). So far I've had about 20 rares but none with Rune in the name. I'll update properly when Mephisto goes down.

Killed Mephisto on /p3 easily enough, and got a reward first time ... Milagebra's Rod. I already have one (which I can't use), but this one won't be seeing much use either. I found another usable javelin stack on Durance level 3:

Actually I am interested because I'll probably make a Bone Necro at some stage down the road, as my interest is piqued now, thanks Wolron, for the tourney and the advice.

I had decided not to go for Revives so had those points available. I also only spent a single point in Teeth as I preferred those points in more long-term useful skills.

I also actually misinterpreted the rules somewhat...I thought Golem Mastery wasn't allowed so had left that at one, and had either 5 or 6 in the Clay Golem himself.

"Amon-Ra has bestowed the following blessings upon his mummy: All of the golem spells except fire golem and iron golem are at his disposal. He can revive the dead as the monsters they were, but cannot turn them into skeletons (unless it is a skeleton that he uses his Revive skill on). He can use summon resist. All poison and bone skills are available to him, but he cannot recall any curses except life tap, terror, attract and lower resistance."

I interpreted "all golem spells" to mean only golems, not Golem Mastery. I did think it was a bit weird not to allow that, because it fits well, but I could always have asked...you know what they say about assumption!

Bone_Wrap has killed NM Baal (five times on P7), killed the cows, and moved on to Hell as Conqueror!

Baal was easy. Four of the five times Bone_Wrap played him, the merc and the golem took absolutely no damage. Bone_Wrap sat back and used bone spear for about five minutes to kill him. Baal did not clone himself and it seemed too easy. I wonder if there is some kind of bug there. The single time that Baal acted as though he was actually dangerous, the merc and the golem were killed once, and Baal did clone himself. When Bone_Wrap went back to resurrect the merc, the clone was gone on return and Baal was a pussycat again. Finally on the fifth try, he dropped a Razortine and an Arctic Binding. Since he already had collected an Arctic Binding, the Razortine was accepted as the reward and immediately deposited into the ATMA stash, never again to be seen.

Bone_Wrap made a Smoke armor out of a two socketed Cuirass. That item was personalized and it allows him to be nearly full resist starting Hell difficulty. Only the cold resist is a little low (65). From now on, bone_wrap is going to play on P1. But, it still is going to be difficult. Here goes nothing!

I noticed that Angels are poorly represented in the living ladder, so to that end, Angelectric has been born and progressed surely through to the Outer Cloister.

I'm sure with a Sorc's life she'll be brittle but powerful early, but I plan to play in short sharp bursts to try to stave off the recklessness/carelessness that has spelt the doom of most of my Afterlife lives. Here's to a long safe trip with her.

Act IV was mostly pretty easy. Charged Strike does enough damage that I don't get hit much (I'm building up Lightning Strike, but it's not yet really worthwhile comparatively), and I think none of my important items lost durability in the entire act. I found my character's signature item, an Ort Rune, from a normal monster (I think; perhaps a chest?) in the River of Flame.

Diablo went down on /p3 with 160% MF, and gave me Kinemil's Awl as my reward. Not likely to see terribly much use, as I think I have better options for lightning immunes. But I've never found it before, so I may mule it off and try another entry in The Moo-Moo King Must Die tournament.

Still haven't got myself a usable belt that's better than a non-magical etheral light belt. My armour is also pretty rubbish (it seemed good back in Act I!). I picked up an ethereal scale mail and may get Larzuk to punch holes in it if nothing better has materialised by the end of Act V.

Had one NDE in the Chaos Sanctuary when swamped by everything at once. The merc died and my potion suppy rapidly vanished. I got up a TP and escaped to town with no visible red left in the life bulb. My fault for being too aggressive, I suppose.

The Blood...
The Pain...

It almost seemed there would be no end. First, there were those "Ancients" that were meant to "test" him. Countless times they forced Lord back to the Sanctuary of Harrogath, but no, at this point, three wizened ghosts of times long gone would not defeat him! After Azreal bravely traded his life for that of Korlic's, Lord and his newly found clay tool, proceeded to play a game of chase with the two remaining Ancients. Luckily it seems there great number of years played in Lord's favor, they were easily distracted by the large clay golem that harassed them at every turn.

Sighing in relief and with new found hope and knowledge, Lord revived Azrael, and prepared for the fight ahead.

"You know this is the last leg of our journey, and it will be the hardest." Azrael chimed.

Annoyed Lord replied, "Of course I know, you don't take me for a fool now do you? I have prepared, studied, and learned many of the dark secrets of Death, and personally, I don't plan on venturing into that void before that foul beast of Terror bows on his knees before me! HE WILL BOW ON HIS KNEES!! DO YOU HEAR ME?! ON HIS KNEEEESSS!!!"

*His speech quickly degrades from there into raving gibberish*"

Ahh the Ancients, what a bunch of pricks. xD

So, I PREPARED! xD hahaha

Oh gosh, well, basically, I as soon as Azrael would die, I would escape to town, and that happened, oh, about 20 times, so meh. Then finally he stayed alive long enough for me to kill Korlic, which, is always the Ancient that scares me the most, so I took on Macdaw and Talic by myself with my Gumby.

And then finally, after a bit of run, cast gumby, shoot, they finally granted me passage.

And then, the progression to Baal was fairly easy, there were a few Gloams, but they were only Champions, and between Bone Spear, my Merc, and Gumby, they were in constant Block Lock! Yay! =D

Unfortunately, this was my first "AHH! OH CRAP!" moment hah xD

I didn't even think that they were Magic Immune! And I could only revive my mercenary 2 more times! Luckily, stuffing Super Healing Pots and Antidotes down his throat plus the occasional Corpse Explosion got the job done = )

So then, on came Baal. AHH!!! STRESSFUL!!!

He would always decide to pop out a clone whenever I got him into the perfect position! Luckily, halfway through the battle, I realized I could bonewall him and he would pretty much just stay in place and not teleport away! =D

(And when clones where made, I would just run into the corner until they disappeared =D)

And so then, about 10 minutes (The fight took at least 20 minutes) Baal blew his big demonic chunks on the flow and I was rewarded handsomely.

Yeah right. xD
