Taking a stab at an answer, my feeling is no that's not allowed. ATMA is usable only as an extended stash and nothing more.

Interesting, I never even knew this was a possiblity in ATMA. I simply assumed that if it wasn't equipable, when I play the character the item will have that red background showing I'm not actually "using" it.

yes, unless the item itself makes sure you can use it. say you have 80 str, and you need 83 for enigma, you could equip the enigma using some +str charm/equipment you can use, you can than remove that +str equipment, as enigma itself provides the str needed to be equipped from that point on. now if you couldn't use this +str equipment, cause of tourny rules, you could equip it in atma, in atma it will have the red background, while it will not in-game. this thus only works if said item provides enough +stat, otherwise it will
indeed have the red background showing you're not using it.

I think you're right about the answer to my question though. Ah well, I could at least ask, right? :wink3:

Obsessive has gotten to Level 15 and just got to the Black Marsh WP for 11 points (3 quests and 5 WPs). Now it is almost time to decide what my next obsession skill will be. I am probably going to use Venom and Death Sentry, but if I use Sentry first, my character will be dead before she gets to max Venom. If only we were allowed one point wonders

@OneFromBeyond: you should start with venom, as it has no synergys, you get to your last skill quicker, and you get a full maxed skill bonus earlier. And about 1 pt wonders, if you'd use those, what would be obsessive about obsessive, i mean: she'd be so obsessive about her skill, that she'd put a whole point(!) in the skill But really, this is, flavourwise at least, a very cool tourny because you can't use 1 pt wonder, exeps when putting a full 20 pts in them :laugh:

@wolron: If I make edge, may I equip it via atma, or would that be forbidden? I mean, without atma, it wouldn't be equippable, while with atma, the edge will make sure I can have it equipped (on a good roll at least, edge gives +all stats), and of course the same q for other equipment, I used edge only as an example (and it is the weapon I want to us, Edge edge bow anyone? )

The rules say that you can use ATMA to extend your stash. That is the only allowed purpose of ATMA. So, the answer is no, you cannot use ATMA to equip an otherwise unequippable item.

Mercury pretty much breezed through the desert. I guess it really helps to have 13 points in your synergy with only one point in the obsessive skill.

Not much to report, no NDE and ended up having to do full clears of most areas as the WP was almost always in the very last place I looked. I'm used to skipping WPs if I find the next area first, so this is interesting and makes my character a little higher level than I'm used to at this point.

Duriel fell with no problems. I was very worried about him as my mercenary is not well equipped and if he falls I can't fight Duriel on my own. No problems however, my mercenary never fell below 1/2 life and I didn't have to use a single rejuv potion on him. Nothing great fell, as I'm still searching for my first unique item, but I did pick up a few set items (none I can use of course).

So Its looking good starting act 2, most my gear is rares apart from weapons, belt and ring/amulet. Cold resist is maxed whooo, like that matters in norm -_-. Im trying to figure about my build still '^^, bos, blades, then a martial art. I was think claws of ice to go with my cold theme, but this will mean having claws on switch, but as it will be doing cold damage for PI's i dont have to worry about dex for higher damage claws. If not Ill go phoenix strike but id rather go claws of ice becuase I can max it by around level 70-80, thus completing all 3 obssesions and leaving shadow master open for when tourny ends, this is if I survive which is very unlikely.

DeltaO has finished off Andariel. Entire act done on P8 except the countess. With P1, she dutifully dropped three runes (Tal, El, Tir). You can't due much with that except Steel, but there is no Cold or Vitality in that, so it is useless to me. Now DeltaO sets in the Inn at Lut Gholein listening to this woman lament about her husband who was killed at the hands of a demon in the sewers. DeltaO is beginning to feel sorry for her. It looks like another task calling for an obsessed amazon!

The 32 points is easy, see my post above. That is what you get when you count the 9 WPs in Act 1, the WP in Lut Gholein, the 6 quests in Act 1 and the first obsession skill.

The 25 points are not as easy to explain, though it is possible that several WPs were missed in Act 1. It is also possible that the first skill has not been maxed and the Radament quest was finished along with the sewers WP.

You may not be counting the town WPs. That would explain why your score of 20 is two points below what I would expect for someone sitting on the Lut Gholein WP.

Nerullan managed to beat Diablo, but not with ease.

He started off continuing in act III, with little to no trouble, although he had to look out a little bit for the stygian dolls. Mephisto went down easily, and in act IV there were no problems until Chaos Sanctuary. Although there, even iron maiden did not manage to decimate my forces, neither did the Infector Of Souls, Lord De Seis, or the Grand Vizier Of Chaos. Diablo's fire wasn't too dangerous, but his lbod was just that, easily taking down all skellies and merc when in that line. I had to raise skeletons from every body in the Chaos Sanctuary, as well as the River Of Flame before I managed to best him, while doing so I also resurrected my merc a number of times since he seemed to hit a bit harder than the skellies.

I do want some suggestions on weapons. Without the crowd control of curses, I tend to fight along, so far I've been using a bow, but without dexterity the only upgrade I've left is a long bow I think. (thanks to finding a charm with dexterity and poison I can equip the hunter's bow I'm using now)
How well do meleemancers without curses, but with an army, tend to do? What would be the best weapon, considering my low strength and very low dexterity?

Now that Mercury has Plague Javalin going things are progressing nicely. The Flayers died in bunches, normally all after about 2 seconds. Since she now has a Town Guard to tank for her, this works out nicely as he can easily stay alive long enough and doesn't wander around.

Had some problems with the Vampires and their fire tricks. Since she only has 8 fire resistance this sometimes causes a problem. Same goes for the Flayer Shamans, where she had her one and only close call. I won't call it a NDE as she still had 1/3 of a life buld left, however it would all have been gone if most of her points didn't go into Vitality. Anyway, wandering through the Flayer Jungle and watching her merc tank while she throws a javalin every once and a while Mercury got distracted by some daisies (I blame my original merc for that ). A shamun snuck up behind her and used that Inferno attack, boy didn't her life drop quickly, yikes. Thankfully she had around 500 life then so the attack couldn't kill her off.

The rest of the act went rather quickly. Mephisto didn't pose any real problems, only requiring one trip back to town to gather additional rejuv potions for the mercenary. I can see that tactics used against Duriel and Mephisto are NOT going to work against Diablo. Going to have to think about that...

1. Does Charsi's quest count as completed when I bring back her Horadric Malus or when I imbued an item? (Same goes for ActV personalize and socketing)

1. Quests are complete when they are grayed out on the quest display. That means that you must embue/personalize/socket/talk to Asheara/etc. while you are still in the act if you want to get your 2 points.

Since we're asking about going back, a follow-up question. To do the Moo Moo Farm you need Wirt's leg, in Act 1. Also AFAIK you have to open the portal in Act I (which would be going back). Is the Cow level allowed and did you have to get the leg when you were in Tristam the first time (ie no rerunning the area just to gather the leg)?

DeltaO has cubed the staff and is ready to go down into the Harem for a little R&R. She still needs one ring with some cold damage or cold resist to complete her obsession equipment task. She has two points in her second obsession skill (Straf). I have never used straf before. So far, I don't like it. Maybe if I find a better bow than a long bow with three chipped gems. Yes, that could be the problem.:undecided:

The real problem with DeltaO is surviving until she gets a good Valkyrie. She won't do much more than get a point or two in that by the time she reaches Baal (If she does reach Baal!).

Shortly befor I fought the Smith to obtain Charsi's Horadric Malus I finally learned to cast the spell I was so desperately looking forward to master: Fire Wall. The Smith was the first to to feel the searing pain of my elemental powers. I died in a blink of an eye.

Then I hunted down Andariel in her catacombs - and I must say, the Smith was by far more dangerous: She apparenently underestimated my arcane knowledge and burned to ashes in what seemed but a second. Indeed her poisonous attack hit me and my comerade, but I outwitted her by obtaining some of those ugly tasting antidotes at the rogues' camp.

Oh, and I found the legendary Axe of Fechmar on my way to Andariel and tried to wield it in combat, but it seems I don't have the muscles to do that...
Instead I'm still using the same short sword and in addition carry a small shield, that seems to protect from all kind of elementals. I still haven't found an amulet and a second ring that suit my taste, but better to wait long and find something pretty instead of wearing such a 5 gp ring from the market...

In Lut Gholein I had to say goodbye from my longtime friend from the rogues' camp. She said now that Andariel was dead her duties were with her rogue sisters. I quickly found a new friend though - his name is Chalan - who wants me to join in the quest of finding out what happened to the husband of a woman of Lut Gholein. We will see what the future brings.

I think I need to slow down, or I'm going to get myself killed. Either way Mercury breezed through Hell without much issues.

Only Diablo gave her pause, since he killed her mercenary companion in about 30 seconds with his firewall. Mercury knew her friend would be useless so she dueled Diablo one on one. Dodging firestorms and lightning breath she ran round and round Diablo throwing Plague javalins whenever an opening presented itself. Finally Diablo fell, and looked very much like a pincushion when he did. Mercury looked into her pack and realized only 3 of 60 javalins remained, quite close. But she was victorious and now moves onward to do Tyreal's bidding.

Edit: Wolron, I've found strafe to be not very usefull until you get a decent bow and some mana leech. Otherwise it's quite the pain. However in the upper levels it is quite fun and very useful, you just have to struggle until then.
