1.07 News, Info and Gossip

Grrr. ATMA ate my Cresent Moon Colossus Sword, only after I read that 1.07 runewords don't work in ATMA. I have tried to recover the file, but since the blade was on a character I created in ATMA for muling, it doesn't seem to leave me with many options.

Any Suggestions (other than finding another Hel and Um)? My Barb merc will hit level 72 next weekend and I would have loved to try this out on him.

If I understand you right, you created a new character in ATMA, muled on the runes+sword went to a game, made it, came back to ATMA and did something to the sword?

You could try restoring a backup of the character/stash file with the runes if there is one (look for the .org files and rename it to d2s/d2x). Otherwise, not sure what I can suggest.

My hammerdin beat Andy in nightmare, and started act 2. Leveling was a bit slow in act 2 so he went back and smacked andy about 20 times to level up to 43. He is still killing strong, BH is maxed at lvl 24 and lvl 9 concentration which he only uses for tough packs, normally using redemption (currently prefering lower-damage but unlimited number of hammers!).

some finds;

*nagelring - normal LK hollow log
serrated grand charm +17 max dam - nm cata 2
serrated GC of dex +18 max dam, +6 dex, nm cata somewhere
*hand of broc (eth!) - nm Andy 4th run
fast run/walk SC - nm act2 monster

and...
*Herald of Zakarum - unique boss in first nm act2 fake tomb
all res +8
+2 pally skill
cannot be frozen
+1 to off aura skill
item level 56
etc.

Very happy with the Hoz, I can't stop looking at it. :grin:

That brings me to a question, my cheesydin is killing ok but leveling is slow! He is currently lvl 43 and doing the nm act 2 fake tombs. Does that ilvl56 HoZ mean that the monsters in the tombs are lvl 53 or so?? :shocked:

And does anyone have a list of 1.07 monster levels, I have a 1.10 list but not 1.07. It would be nice to know monster levels and also what relative player level is best to gain exp.

Seems nobody reads the 1.07 thread huh?

In case anyone wonders about Hammerdins in 1.07 (Yiuman asked before) my cheesy got to hell quite easy and walked out into the blood moor at lvl 61 with around zero resists. Still not too hard, hammer damage is currently 712-724 with concentration on and 236-240 with redemption on. BH is lvl29. I found a 3 combat coronet and replaced my 3 BH scepter with a 2 combat 1 BH scepter which is better for holy shield.

Ordinary hell monsters are dead with one or two hammers so I run redemption for unlimited life and mana. For pack bosses I run concentration and sometimes salvation for safety. Even phys immune teleporting bosses go down fairly easy. Got to dark wood ok, now at lvl63 and no real probs.

I'm still not going to say an unsynergised 1.07 hammerdin is hell viable, but I will keep pushing him forward as the goodies are starting to drop now and he hasn't had any real probs. We'll see.

PS. Yiuman also asked about concentration aura, yep it adds 1/2 listed +damage to hammers, and it also seems to add 1/2 +damage to elemental damages on my rogue. So when she had lightning damage gems in a bow concentration boosted that lightning damage. At the moment she aint doing much, but when I get her a good elite bow the build gets even more viable.
 
For MF sorceress, I'm finding that max Static + max Frozen Orb + Cold Mastery looks like the most efficient way to cruise through LK/Council/Meph. Meteor is just too slow. I'm going to try Kelpie Snare on the merc to see if Meteor will work for bosses. Anybody have some input on this?

It is true that this thread doesn't get the highest amount of traffic. I think that there are a couple of us who read it whenever we see someone's posted and will reply if we have something interesting to say/ know the answer to a question (or have a question to ask).

Therefore the most likely reason for noone replying is that noone knew the answer to your question. To respond to your comments about leveling though - unless you use MP games to 'up' the numbers of players, you'll find leveling slow due to the lack of a players X command. 61 is actually quite high to enter hell in 1.07. Most of my characters move there at ~50. The accepted wisdom is that the best place to level in 1.07 is Hell Cows. Also, I think that ~700 damage is quite respectable in 1.07 - what level of concentrate is that with?

I've not tried it (I've found runes pretty rare and my aim is to load my mercs with MF so Ptopaz has been more my style) but I have it from a very reliable source that they don't work.

I'm sure that Meteor would work, the problem is that with levels as hard to come by as they are in 1.07, cold spells have the huge advantage of piercing immunities meaning that you can get by without a backup skill, which would be hard to do with Meteor. The best way to kill bosses IMHO is static them to a sliver and then let the merc get the kill (A1 rouge or A5 barbs get my vote). This has the advantage of counting your mercs MF as well (remember those important breakpoints people!).

Hi again, concentrate is lvl 24, BH is 29. Equip is 3 combat circlet, 2 combat + 1 BH scepter, HoZ +2 pally and + 1 off aura, and +1 pally skill ammy.

I've got through to the end of hell act2, ready to smack Duriel. I've also done about 100 hell Andy runs now and am at lvl 67.3 so leveling IS happening, just slow. And Andy gave me a dwarf star and a few other goodies. :smiley:

Thanks for the levelling tips! At the moment i'm just spending a lot of hours doing lots of killing. The MF is paying off, i'm starting to find +3 tree ammys and I found the first +2 skill ammy last night, a +2 amazon.

I found the only blessed hammer immunes so far, the zombies in hell Lost City.
They are 100% magic immune, BH does not hurt them AT ALL and neither does sanctuary aura(!), although it does push them back. My rogue had to do all the killing.

Speaking of rogue, she has a +20 max dam circlet and +10 max dam jewel in her armour. With a yellow Cedar Bow listed as 32-53 damage and my conc aura she does 424-985 damage, mainly phys damage. In combat i can flash lvl1 fanat aura (shopped scepter) and it goes 445-1033 and faster. When I can find or afford a +3 fanat scepter it will be better still.

Hell does not seem to be hard, I am picking up plenty of goodies and the only thing hard are those ^$@&* conviction aura lightning enchanted uniques! Ouch they hurt.

Best damage charm so far; serrated large charm of quality, +20 max dam.

Wait til you hit the Chaos Sanctuary... Stygian Dolls in the Durance may be a bigger problem if they get inside your firing arc. What are you using for a shield? Although the Paladin-specific shields are pretty useless for bashing, their +resist mod can push a 3 or 4 PDiamond socketing into the mid- to high- 100's for global resists, freeing up headgear for +skills circlets and the body for MF. The shields aren't sexy, but they certainly give you some staying power in Hell. Some even come with +skills as well.

From the way your pally operates, he sounds like he will end up being a good LK/Council/Meph runner.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm already past the Durance (that's what you meant by CS?) and doing hell Meph runs. Since late nightmare i equipped a 4-sock gothic plate armour with 3x sol (21 dam reduce) and a psapphire (+38 mana). So the dolls are not too bad, they have not got me yet although I have died to other things. :smiley:

I found more magic immune monsters, in the Hell act2 tombs the mummy raisers (mummy daddies?) are magic immune but thankfully their skellies are still killable. I've got a lot of points in redemption now, which is very powerful for situations like that.

MF is still going well, I found a Guillames hat from a unique in the sewers, and getting quite a collection of circlet/coronet/tiara.

I'm still collecting stuff for use in patch 1.1x, have so far got a few +3 Holy shield scepters and some impressive damage charms and jewelery. It's a shame the few unique items I found are crap, apart from the magefists and HoZ of course.

Does anyone know if any unique weaps give 50% faster cast rate in 1.07? Like spectral shard/wizspike/suicide branch do in 1.1x. It might be time for some rack running.

Guilherms Face is a good one (CB is great), a good magic/rare circlet type could be good, of course a shako is great but not so easy to find, there is also the unique winged helm and grim helm both of which are good for pretty much any build and have useful green versions too so racking them isn't as frustrating as it could be. It kinda depends on your gear, but I quite like the runeword Beauty - just remember not to touch it with ATMA!

@Paladingo: You want the Wizzie. The shard only has 20%FCR and whilst the branch does have 50%FCR, it is a wand to you can't rack it meaning that it is going to be pretty darn rare.

Finding a +1 paladin skills rare circlet...good luck. I got one w/FR and 6% LL and nearly wet my pants. Crafting is a good way to go if you haven't cubed up all your gems. If you can find a high damage reduction circlet, than can carry you through NM as well. I just picked up a 24 DR/33% LR circlet with a MF sorc that I'm putting on her merc when they get to L37.

Save any rare circlet you find for PSkull rerolls. You'll need a high level character to do this, probably around L70, but that character can make you excellent Blood Gloves as well.

If you can put together Sigon's set (not hard if you rerun Travincal/Meph or Chaos Sanctuary), you can take advantage of the decent resists in that and wear some LL rings (Cathan's Seal is pretty good through Act 4 NM) to make up for any gaps. Socketing the shield with a PDiamond isn't the worst use of Larzuk either.

What merc are you using? I used an Ice Iron Wolf with my Conviction Avenger and didn't have much of a problem up until the Chaos Sanctuary back when he was entirely self-found. Since Vengeance eats up mana quickly, you want to make sure you hit as often as possible, and frozen targets are pretty good targets. Ice Rogue could be even better with CtC Inner Sight.

Paladingo--nice job living through the dolls. They give my non-AoE characters a very hard time. Since you don't have to worry about IM curses from the OKs you should do just fine with the nice wide open killing ground. Of course by the time you read this, you will have likely Guardian'd if you keep questing at this pace...

Hi, if you can push through to NM Lower Kurast, and do special chest runs you should get a lot of circlet/coronet drops. I did an evening there and got about 20, and at that level you will get +1 skills or +2 skill tree circlets. And a lot of cash, I gambled for some as well.

Also runs of the NM act2 Canyon (above ground) got me quite a few grand charms (kick/pop everything) while I leveled up, and more GC from NM LK the same way. They were some of my best items so far, ie life/mana charms for my hammerdin and lots of damage charms, no good for hammer but good for your build.

Galtwish - thanks re dolls, my life i about 850, and sometimes when a doll pops life goes down to less than a quarter. But they seem to spawn in the same spot mostly so I can lay a few hammers down first then run forward+back to draw them into the hammer field. No more questing for now, hammerdin is in Hell act4 (actually doing act3 meph runs).

Boss drops are bugged in 1.07 they will always drop low level crap and some of the low exceptionals at best. Really only good to run for unique and set jewelery.
