1.07 News, Info and Gossip

I'm thinking of trying out 1.11b, and probably transferring most of my (mostly useless in 1.07) uniques to 1.11b characters. I have found Skystrike, Riphook, Kuko, Bonesnap, and Fleshripper that I plan to use in 1.07--what do I need to do to make sure I can still use these in 1.07?

To "update" and item to 1.11b you just need to play a char in 1.11 with the items you want to be updated. If you don't want those items to be upgraded, save them in a separate ATMA stash, and never mule tem into your 1.11 chars.
As Naab said, once you birng the items to a newer patch, they can't be used in previous versions.
Most of the items you mentioned are pretty low lvl, and I'm sure they can be covered in a 1.11 giveaway (if you accept freebies, that is) I could probably hook you up with most -if not all- the items you mentioned. THey're 1.11b RRM/RWM though.

Thanks for the quick responses, I figured as much but wanted to make sure.

--Pucho; thanks for the very kind offer, but I'm self-found (which is why I want to try out 1.11b, so I can cube up runes and play with runeword builds)

Unless you plan to stop playing 1.07, or have duplicates of the above items, I wouldn't move them forward if I were you. They aren't too hard to find in later patches (as compared to finding them in 1.07) and they are probably far more useful to you in 1.07. IIRC, the 1.11 versions of the above uniques are better than the 1.07 anyway so there is very little point in bringing them forward.

Ahhhh--I was under the impression that they would update to 1.11 stats. And you are right; they're much more valuable in 1.07.

I think I may use 1.11b for tournaments and messing around with, but I do love the challenge of 1.07 Hell.

ATMA doesn't read info from 1.07 correctly due to the original documentation being lost to the sands of time or something. That orb isn't that great--wait for a + cold skills orb to come by. Hell LK/Counsel is probably the best place to pick one up. Blues tend to be better on average than rares as they stick to + skills rather than spread all over the place. That's also a good place to pick up +3 skill tree amulets and hats, though they can drop earlier.

Considering that I'm using the orb below, I'm more than happy to change to that orb I showed above.

Ethereal (Cannot be Repaired)

That's gotta hurt. Don't forget though if you do decide to use it you get two shots at repairing it through the personalize and socket quests. I also think (although I'm not sure about this) that if you ever bring it to 1.11b and upgrade it, not only will it get a nice def boost but the durability will again be repaired. Otherwise, I guess it will just look pretty in your stash.

Also, if you got it from a rack, at least class specifics drop twice as often ie 1:500 instead of 1:1000, so you won't have to wait as long as if you'd got a non-class specific item.

Actually the Hoz was from one of the Council members in Nightmare. Haven't started racking yet.

Is there a but with Hell Andariel? I've been running her and not 1 set or unique from her, although I'm getting alot of rares.

This dropped from a zombie boss pack near her:
Demon Machine
Chu-Ko-Nu
Two-Hand Damage: 35 to 80
Required Dexterity: 95
Required Strength: 80
Required Level: 49
Crossbow Class - Fastest Attack Speed
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 81
Fingerprint: 0x26c55d61
+150% Enhanced Damage
+35 to Minimum Damage
+75 to Maximum Damage
+65 Defense
Increase Maximum Mana 50%
Piercing Attack [1]
Fires Explosive Arrows

I could spend the stat points to equip it but I'd hate to lose the resists from my shield.

There is a 'but' with all bosses - unless you have 556%MF then they hardly drop gold at all, but over 556%MF and they only drop gold. Hell Andy is a good target for unique jewelery (once you get 556%MF). Also, check the durability of the rares - they may be failed unique drops.

As to the Cho Ko Nu, I'm guessing that you want it because of the pierce bug in 1.07? Unfortunately, in 1.07, the weapon only has a 1% chance to pierce and so isn't much use (if however you are after it for the mana it is slightly better but still not worth the stat points IMHO). Personally I'd stick with your orb.

On a different note, I found this:

Fine Small Charm of Dexterity
Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Required Level: 5
Item Version: Expansion
Item Level: 88
Fingerprint: 0x7bbaf68e
+1 to Dexterity
+11 to Attack Rating
+3 to Maximum Damage

Which I would be chuffed with in any other patch, but is a bit disappointing considering 1.07 damage charms.

With only 172% MF, I guess I should move on to the council then.

Big error in the 1.07 guide then.

- Unique items with Piercing Attack increase the piercing % of your Cold Mastery. That's why the The Demon Machine (Chu-ko-no) is probably the best sorceress weapon in v1.07: the 66% pierce and 50% mana bonus is awesome.

Yep and yep.

Try and aim for 375%MF for the council - that way you have a pretty good chance of getting sets (don't forget that merc MF counts if they get the kill - this is what makes sorcs such good MFers in 1.07 - you can static down to a sliver then let the merc get the kill). Still, the best way (and in many cases only way) to get good itemz in 1.07 is to rack them and for most people LK is the area of choice - lots of racks, a nicely located WP and not too far into the game and pretty much every item you want except the Cranium Basher and IKSC can be racked there.

Depends on what you want...1.07 is quite different from 1.09 and both are quite different from 1.07. There is a great guide for 1.07 in the SPF.

1.07 is mostly played for the challenge and some items (see link above for details), 1.09 is mostly played (I guess???) for HF rushing, but also since somewhat different buils work than in 1.11. I'm no expert at 1.09 though...
