Anything Goes D2 Lounge!

So I have been doing an untwinked Amazon playthrough, and I managed to make Peace armor. I wore it for the ancients fight, then took it off and put back on mf armor. The valk now remains? I do not have any points in the skill and am not using Harmony, so there should be no access to the skill at all. Just found it weird that it remains, thought it would poof according to how charges work. I guess I might be spawning valks on other characters on longer questing sessions.
 
@thefranklin Valks are considered to be pets and the game does some weird things with pets. If you put peace on your Merc the valk will never proc because pets can't have pets.

Here another weird thing. What happens if you use GoMule to put something in the Cube but your character hasn't actually found the cube yet? Turns out that when you do find the cube and open it the item is in the cube!
 
Decided to install D2R and start playing again. It has been a while. Was unfortunate to see tcpip still has not been added in. Hopefully Blizzard, or someone, fixes that.

My last post was in this very thread, nearly five years ago. A lot in life has changed since then but obviously not a love for this game. Between that time and now I completed a mod for D2L but never really played it. Had more kids. Other kids got older. On D2R release I spent a few weeks porting my mod over and I put in maybe 6 hours of playtime. Uninstalled D2R, deleted everything and moved on.

I joined my first forum sometime my senior year in high school but I don't remember which one. I do however remember some others and every once in a while I go check them out. I will read a post or a thread created some 15 or 20 years ago. I check the person's profile and it will say, "last active: 2010" and then I think, "What happened to them I wonder, they just made this post and never logged back in? After 5,000 posts and sharing their entire life on here, just gone." I have many times found myself on here reading through a thread, then look at that users' past replies, then going through someone else's... hours later I feel like I was able to live through a snapshot of someone's life in this moment in time where Diablo was their thing. I wonder if anyone else does this from time-to-time.

In today's age of fast-paced Discord messages the "art" of the forum post is quite lost.

Anyways. I started a Sorc the other day. I'm level 26 and just saved some Act 5 Barbarians. I've played a lot of sorceresses since 2000. ChatGPT estimates I may have fired some 15,000,000 fireballs. And guess what? It is still exciting! lol! As I write all of this I am now sitting here trying to think of the app I once used to track LK runs, explaining to my wife that I was about to hit run #5,000 and I had to play for a bit longer. I am excited to get this sorc to Hell Act 3 so I can begin rolling maps.

Great times ahead!

Blizz sadly won't add TCP/IP back after they removed it in the first place for "security reasons" after the Tech Alpha debacle.

I have similar thoughts about accounts that haven't been seen in years or decades. How are they, what are they doing in life, are they still alive?

Like the other day I was looking around on YouTube and stumbled across an old Halo 2 trickjumps video from 2007 (and YouTube showing "posted 17 years ago" making me feel old lmao), checked their last video and they had moved onto Halo 3 trickjumps on a different channel and that channel's last video was in 2008. The final slide in that video had them apologizing for infrequent uploads due to computer issues and that they'd try to have more videos out in the future, here we are 16 years later haha.

It's fun to look at these little slices of time, almost like looking around in an old tomb with an inch of settled dust heh.
 
@dkn Welcome back! You will see some names from the past still posting, but there are other names that just seem to have dropped off the face of the Earth and like you I wonder what happened to them. Just look at some of the build authors and there are some big time posters that we haven't heard from for years.

I see that you also registered on the trading forum. Unfortunately, it is rather moribund compared to what it was 15 years ago. There don't seem to be any new players looking for starting gear and it can be months between posts in the trading forum.

Yeah, it's a shame about the trading forum. Oh well, maybe someone will delete all of their stuff in a "voluntary" reset and I'll find a trade partner ;)
 
@dkn I took a 10 year break myself, but was lucky in that I still had all my old Atma stashes. All that stuff is transferable to D2R so if you want to trade for some of the early sets and uniques feel free to ask. I still remember getting some early starter stuff from people like Garbad_the_weak.

@dkn I have most lower and mid-tier sets complete and uniques in multiple copies so if there is anything you need just let me know (I can transfer to D2R, just need to find out how)
 
@Arjan You wouldn't need to do any converting. Just create a mule and load it up with whatever stuff is wanted and email it. The recipient then pastes the d2s file into his Saved Game D2R folder.

@dkn Which reminds me that D2 LOD and D@R now save things in a different location. The D2s files are now in the Users/saved Games/D2Resurected folder. Oh, Silopen has kept GoMule up to date.

I really, really appreciate the offer and I may take you both up on it. I just got to NM Act 3 and have been doing Meph runs all evening :D finding ok stuff but nothing for my sorc and no MF. lol. I guess that's just how it goes!
 
I reached Act 5 NM this evening but the Ancients were too difficult. I am going Hydra + Frozen Orb and the damage is just not enough.

I have done ~450 runs of Andy/Mephisto but have not found much for SamiraFireveil. That all changed after giving up on the Ancients. First, I used Larzuk to socket a 4os crystal sword for a Spirit. It rolled 28%. I rerolled a 35%. Whew. Then I made an Insight for my merc. My son sat down to watch me for about 20 minutes. I was explaining to him that I had done about 400 runs and not found a single upgrade.

Then Frostburns on Mephisto. Very next run Mephisto drops a Lidless Eye. Then Frostburns again. My son asked why I was running Andy and I showed him a drop calculator. I said, "I am really only doing this for a chance at a Vipermagi". Next run, Andy drops it. Rolled 31%.

I missed D2 but I didn't know I missed it this much. Such an exciting night lol

I'm trying to figure out where I want to run my Patriarch Zerker from now on. Been trying Baal and Pit. Both are viable but are not really showing anything good just yet. Especially Baal is an absolute arse recently

Think I found a use for him... Lk runs with howl are actually pretty fast. Might swap merc and use Harmony to add some more speed

You might as well put Harmony on weapon switch. That way you will be fast in town as well and won’t run away from merc and then not have Vigor anymore. :)

How's everyone doing? Long time no see! I'm playing a bit of d2 despite
1. no time with new job and kids (ages 3 and 1)
2. had to reinstall and boot up from backups since I reformatted my hard drive a while back. And the worst of all...
3. no festering essences so I cant respec to go back to doing the nova sorc pit runs that I want to do.

So I'm doing my least favorite run in the game for essences. Up to 50 javazon runs with no essence 0_0.

Fun seeing some of the forum activity I've missed over the last few years. @PhineasB you've done another ut99er after the sept? You're insane. 🍻
 
Welcome back @Luhkoh And, yes, we did another 99er, because she so far along I couldn’t resist :)

I’ve dabbled in D2R and will likely push that Sorc to 99, but I also have a soft spot for v1.14. And for later level, knowing the areas to run versus worrying about which TZs are open is a bit simpler.

But I’ve had limited play time due to work of late, and not likely to change dramatically. But I think it’s time for MFO, and maybe the limited time I’ve spent reading more recently will shift over to D2. So I’ll post shortly an MFO interest thread!
