^= lower chance, because you will have a higher chance of the item being magical or higher instead of 'white'. etheral or socketed are unrelated to mf, too.

That means I have to go for 0 mf to find socket items?
Have to? ...No. But MF defeats the purpose, because every item that drops blue/yellow/green/gold is one that didn't drop white. White items have a chance (30%?) to spawn with sockets...blues and rares require an affix to spawn with sockets. There is also a 5% chance that an item will spawn ethereal (unless it is of set quality...sets are never eth).

Stopping off at nightmare Meph on my first run through since restarting (Meteorb). Anything I should particularly find here before moving onto Hell?

Cow level. Depends on your level, though. Any polearm found in normal cows can be given to larzuk for guaranteed 4 sockets. If you're looking for an endgame 4os polearm I would recommend running hell cows if you can handle it. Pindle running on hell has also yielded me some good bases, socketed and unsocketed. Also keep in mind that if you find a polearm even without sockets and you have no more larzuk socket quests to use, you can use the cube recipe

1 Ral Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon -> Socketed Weapon of same type

Keep in mind this can only be used on regular quality weapons though, not on superior.

My night is going pretty poorly in LK. She is a cruel mistress. You go all night, and she only teases you with a mal rune here and there. She breathes into your ear, "Do you like that baby? Do you want more?" You manage to stammer out a, "Y... Yes mistress."

And she replies, "No... "

4 socket polearms: playing through nightmare. If you want to use the Larzuk socket quest on a polearm, Normal Cows is the right ilvl, so anything except a bardiche will get the 4 sockets that way. There are lots of cows and they drop lots of stuff, so it's pretty efficient to hunt for bases there.

Success! I finally rerolled my Travi map into the correct one. I decided to make a video. Watch out for teh epicness at 2:50. I had to cut the video a bit to fit it under 5 min, as I have trouble uploading more than that.

I hate to do more complaining but I need to complain more.

Nearly 800 runs and over 4 hours and all I got is 2 mals and a pul :( This is probably the worst luck rune streak I've had to date in lk. Terrible. Awful. I got a few skiller grand charms with no affixes, so that's cool. And one perfect MF SC, so that's also nice. But I'm still sitting at only 1 lightening skiller and I am only 1/6 way to enigma :(:(:(

Turn the Mals into an IST IMO..

Here is a dumb question. What is your strategy for avoiding killing the cow king?

And is Nightmare cows good for farming anything?

Depends on the character you're running I think. And the difficulty. In Hell he spawns lightning immune every time, so using a lightning based character with very low physical damage is safe to just spam away. Otherwise, you can either risk attacking his 'fort' and lure him out and portal park him (take him to a cleared area and make a TP, then come back in through the red portal), or you can just avoid his fort altogether. He always spawns in the same area on any map. I personally just avoid his area completely to ensure I don't lose the ability to run cows. We've estimated there are about 450 cows on any given map, avoiding his area may eliminate ~50 or so cows from your run but it is the safest way.

Edit: Re: nightmare farming - this is the best place to gather the cow kings set if you're going for the grail. Otherwise it isn't a 'hot spot' for any particular item to my knowledge. I don't know that I've ever farmed here in NM.
