Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Hey thanks for hosting, I'm out of town this weekend so my net access has been limited so I haven't been able to give feedback yet.

Few questions

* When would I of found out about my lynch block power?
* Was trent pro or anti-town? Or both?

We did lynch trent btw, who was alignment unknown apprently, to me thats a damper to the 100% record. Still the odds were stacked against us with just 1 faction and no crossfire possible (ignoring Cobbs). Go town.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

I removed your lynch block ability before the game for balance, as I though it might be too OP.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Whew! I DID hit the right vote! I'm still confused why the game went on after the last Mafia lynch? And why Fey rambled on about voting?

I do apollogise again about not being as active as I would have liked - RL got in the way.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

The game went on a bit because I wanted to go over some totals and stuff.
Then I officially ended it ten minutes later.

I started the game as nuetral. With the death of Tobias (Noamarr) I became nuetral. So when I was investigated I was nuetral, but when I was lynched I was anti-town. So don't count that as marring your record.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Umm, correction to above: I started the game as nuetral. With the death of Tobias (Noamarr) I became anti-town.

Gorny, would I have come up anti-town on investigation?

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

I have some things I want to address about the game, but I think I'll wait till after I get up in the morning.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Wow, congrats to the town on winning! (Personally prefer to see the town beat the odds, unless I'm scum of course) Only had a skim read really, but looks like quite a complicated set-up. Big games are fun though.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

it's over?

*rises from the grave*

town won? awesome! :highfive: good job, everyone! i know i didn't help much, but it's good to know that y'all worked together and lynched some baddies! thanks for hosting, Gorny. while it was complicated, i was actually okay because i was semi-familiar with NCIS, lol! :D thanks once again!

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Not making an excuse for losing this has just been bugging me:

Is replacing modkilled inactive players standard practice? I can't say that I am a fan of it. It's been in the last 2 games I've played and it really seems mess up the dynamic of the game. First you have someone who has been absent for a whole day phase, so you get no information from that day, then you have a new person take over who likely has a different playstyle from the first player. I'm sure that the town would have had a hard time winning if Leo hadn't taken over as that would have meant no mason group.

I understand the necessity of it but I wish it didn't have to be there. Does anyone else feel that way, or am I alone in my thinking?

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

It shouldn't be used to only replace power roles. It should be an all or nothing decision. if you mod replace one person and modkill another, you can't keep objectiveness in the game.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Usually what happens on other sites is: an inactive player gets prodded, if they dont respond they get replaced. If the role gets replaced twice it's killed off.

If a prodded player needs poking again they instead get replaced without warning.

Yeah it ruins the dynamic of the game by denying a days info and getting fresh blood, but thats part of the game unfortunatly.

Gorny probably was killing off inactive players instead of replacing them because it was late game.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

On modkilling:

Leo got a warning and never responded.
Asrrin got a warning and responded.
Feysal got a warning and responded.
Boogyman19946347191987 sent me a PM and advised that he should be modkilled because he was not posting due to RL.

The above had to to with not meeting the post requirement/not posting.

Flubbucket got modkilled for posting after the end of day, and did not take it well:

Feysal...14) You will get mod killed if you are inactive (at least 2 contributive posts a day).

How would you feel if you were treated like this?

It still seems hypocritical given Feysal’s obvious infraction. However, you are the host so you can decide to do whatever you choose. I only joined this game because 1) you invited me and 2) your games are usually fun and unique (I also like NCIS). This late in the game your action felt unexpectedly punitive.

My whole point and reason for modkilling flub was totally different from what happened with Feysal, I pointed out the difference being that Feysal and Asrrin weren't posting enough and were due a warning just like I would give to anyone else in the situation of not posting, and indeed just as other hosts have done in the past.

I also pointed out that Flub's modkill was for posting after the end of the day when he knew he should now (infact, everyone knows not to), regardless of if the game mod formally ends the day with a closing post. I also pointed out that the flub had posted after the end of the day on two different occasions on separate days this game, the first being visible in the link provided by Flub. He, Flip, Malevolent, Zemaj and Drixx kept posting for a full 18 minutes at the end of day two when they clearly should have stopped.

I overlooked it and gave none of them a warning.

On Day 10, Flub again posted after the end of day, 10 minutes after the start of the night phase. I understand a minute or two and in some instances maybe as much as 5 minutes. But taking into consideration that Flub and 4 others kept posting 18 minutes into the night on day 2 and then on Day 10 Flub posts 10 minutes into the night, I felt a modkill was warranted.

We all know when the day ends, and we know not to post, even if the game mod announces the end of day or not.

Sorry to Flub but I feel that my decision to modkill you was correct and unbiased and not hypocritical, even if you were invited by me, after all you are the one who chose to post after the end of day.

Would I have modkilled someone else in that situation? Yes.

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

I'm glad you posted this Gorny, It was bothering me that those people all posted after days end on 10-11-11 and all lived, so you explaining your reasoning helps me understand it. Thanks for a good game even tho i was the neutered serial killer;) I liked that, so thanks:)

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

Thanks for hosting the game!

It was fun, but I see I've yet to learn from previous misstakes. :(

I'm happy town won though! :D

Re: Witch Hunt: The NCIS Haloween Forum Mafia Thread

did you send me a PM because i never got it. it doesn't matter anyhow as I hadn't posted that whole day phase and was expecting you to kill me with or without warning. I wasn't participating much to begin with. sorry about that. >.>

Posted in thread just like the others.

I am glad Leo was added into the game. As scum, I didn't like it, because it gave town a second chance imo. As a player of the game, I am glad he got replaced. If this would have happened in day 3 (4 or even five) or further, I would not have liked it as much; the reason being as kestegs said: two different players with two different play styles. I noticed that immediately, as when Leo came in guns blazing. I am just glad this decision was made very early in the game.

In regards to Flub: I was very shocked that he got killed. As scum, I was very glad. As a player, shocked, and glad I didn't respond to his message. I didn't respond for fear of what happened to him.

As a scum player, the mod kills towards the end really helped me out. I didn't see any chance of staying alive as long as I did when there were 4+ town players against me. Guess really 7. Then 2 were modkilled, down to 5. Then the doublekill rule, down to 3. That really helped me. I did learn a lot from Feysal's posting about the end of game, as I should have voted for Flip. Voting for Flip though, I thought was more of a scum move. I lied down the few cards I had too soon.

@Gorny: I hope you host more of these crazy games. A lot of game mechanics involved! I am half convinced you were trying to get the most mod-kills in a game award!
