Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I still can't get going on Gomule. How do I make it an executable jar file? On my other computer I used WinRAR to unzip the original download, and the jar file is executable. I just feel like an idiot because this is not working, and I am probably not making alot of sense. It is pretty easy to mule the way I have been by hosting a game and and all that, and all I have to do is keep reseting levels until I get a good meph map. I feel safer muling that way because it would be hard to screw that up. One thing that aggravates me is that switching between normal, nightmare, and hell resets levels.

Honestly, this sounds more like a JAVA problem than a GoMule problem. Make sure you have the latest JRE (doesn't need to be latest, but it's probably the easiest to get). JRE is the JAVA Runtime Environment. It is what runs JAVA for your computer. You do not need the JDK, as that's for developing JAVA programs.

Oracle develops JAVA now, so the link for the JRE is here.

I have that version of java installed and checked and verified. With java installed, should the computer recognize gomule as being a jar file and apply java to it automatically? I have gomule in a folder by itself and I installed java in the same folder. Should I have gomule and java in the program files together? I noticed there is actually two different program file folders, one of them has a number beside it, I am at work and I can't remember what the number is. D2 LOD is in that program files folder with the number beside it. I agree that java somehow is not working with gomule for some reason.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

A correct Java installation should recognize GoMule as an executable file and run it when you double-click GoMule.jar. It shouldn't really matter where it's installed, though.

Luckily, you can associate jar files with Java yourself. Google can help you find out how.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Not sure if you ever got it fixed or not. When I got a new computer I had trouble with java as well, turned out to be a .jar association problem. not sure if that is your problem or not, but its worth a shot at least, jarfix

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I never did get it to work. I tried a search to see if there is anything I can learn that way. I will try your link when I get home from work. I have thought about trying atma. I appreciate the help guys.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Welcome. Sorry I forgot to welcome you earlier in the Newcomer forum, but I wanted to pwn Noodle ;p

I assume you have Windows, right? Follow these directions. Try to create an Edge runeword or maybe Insight depending on how far you are in the game. Be sure to read the tips if it does not create the runeword. If you do not have 2 files and a folder that extracted, try opening RWMfor113c with 7zip.

For Windows:
Extract the file RWMfor113c.zip
Inside there is a folder called RWMfor113c.
Open the RWMfor113c folder, inside will be a folder named Runewords.
Copy or move the Runewords folder to the Diablo II folder.
Create a shortcut to Diablo II.exe by right clicking on the icon and choosing create shortcut to Desktop.
Right click on the new shortcut and choose Properties.
Change the "Start In..." path to point to the copied runewords folder. The easiest way to do this is to add "\Runewords" to the existing text that is already there, inside the quotation marks. So it looks like this.
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Runewords"
Now add -direct -txt to the Target text path, outside the quotation marks. So it looks like this.
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt
Click Ok and as long as you do not get any error messages the RWM is installed. You can test it out on any of the ladder runewords.

Tips:
Before you sell/trash a runeword that did not create. First make sure that you have the correct runes and they are in the correct order. Then check to see if you used the right weapon or armor type. If every thing is correct, but the runeword was not created do not sell/trash the runeword. Post in the sticky for help. Once you have the RWM successfully installed the 'gemmed' item will change into the runeword.

P.S. If you find that it still does not work and you have win7/vista you might want to try installing Diablo II outside the 'Program Files' folder. The directions will be the same, but the path will be slightly different, just ignore the path differences and follow the 'easiest' way given.

Eh, its ok. Now i tried that out, but in the shortcut properties, it gives me this:"C:\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" in the target section, and when i type the things u said, it gives me an error :S

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I assume that you installed Diablo II to just your C drive, outside the 'Program Files' folder.
In that case based off of what the target says:
start in... should be this "C:\Diablo II\Runewords"
the target should be this "C:\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt

I no longer have Diablo II installed on a windows machine, but I believe the image that is included might help you find which text boxes to place these in even though it is in German. Anymore questions I'd love to help.

It would help if you would tell us the exact error message. :)

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I was trying to make Infinity in battle scythe using RWM mod and well... its not working. Before anyone asks, yes it had 4 sockets and yes I inserted it in correct order. The point is that i dig through all of the pages in this topic and none of the solutions seems to be working for me.

Runewords folder is located as it should be - in the main d2 directory.

Here are the lines in the shortcut
"D:\games\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt
"D:\games\Diablo II\Runewords"

Im running win7, any ideas how to make RWM work for me ... ?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Welcome. I'm just going to ask for you to check a few things since everything appears to be done correctly from the info you gave. You also appear to know a thing or two about computers and Diablo II, but please check anyway so we can eliminate the possibilities. Thanks.

1) The battle scythe is not magical (the text is not blue, but gray)
2) You have the patch 1.10+ and the right RWM for your patch, there is one for each patch 1.10+
3) You put the Runewords folder into the Diablo II directory not the first folder holding everything
4) In your reply the lines appear to be reversed, unless win7 changed the order, but that should have given you an error I believe
5) Try another ladder-only runeword like Edge or Insight

Please keep the gemmed item until we get the RWM fixed as it will become Infinity once we do.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hmm, seems there is still a problem. I just made an insight runeword into a 4 socketed yar(ral+tir+tal+sol), and it was just a gemmed yar. Now, when i open my local disk, there is a folder, that sayd Diablo II, when i open that, there r a bunch of files, and a folder RWMfor1.13c. In that folder is the runewords folder. Did i do something wrong there? Cuz in the shortcut the target, and start in are excactly as ladvarian told, and when i pushed ok, no error came. So, what did i do wrong. And when i get the RWM, does the yari i runed turn into an Insight?

The only folder that should be in your Diablo II folder, aside from your save folder, should be the Runewords folder. Move the Runewords folder outside of the RWMfor113c folder into your Diablo II folder otherwise it will not work with the path I've given you.

Note the extra files are normal and created by the game when you use the -direct -txt tags.

Also note that a yari is a spear so insight won't work in it anyways.

First of all, I would like to thank You for such a quick answer. Be so kind to investigate my answers, I believe we can come up with solution to this.

Here are the answers for your possible fault list:
1) Battle scythe is gray 4 socketed only
2) I've made sure that i have the correct patch installed (checked it in game and in the name of file that i downloaded to patch the game - says 1.13c)
3) I've put Runewords folder along with subfolders on the same level as "save" folder in D2
4) Hmmm this one troubles me, 'cause both lines are in the correct order in my shortcut as far as Im concerned, I believe this could be the source of the problem. What do You mean by "reversed" ? Both of my lines are exactly in the same place as in the .gif attached to "how to install" Please explain a bit further.
5) Will do so shortly

Looking forward to Your answer.

You'll want to look inside the 'RWMfor1.13c' folder for another folder called 'Runewords' and copy-paste that into your 'DiabloII' folder. Then use the RWM shortcut.

Also, what Oscuro said: Yari = Spear, Insight needs Polearm.

Sorry I could have sworn that it was the other way. After double checking you are right. I have not had to install D2 or the RWM in a long time; I just copy over my D2 folder from my back-up.

Now I'm further confused as to your problem; the install everything seems to be 100% correct. Could you post an image of your folder structure and your shortcut? Did you get the other runeword to work? Inside the folders some text files should have been created, were they? Try making a short-cut to Game.exe instead. I'm grasping at straws now, sorry hopefully someone else can spot a problem.
