Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Thanks for the quick reply guys, I don't "need" to understand, i was just curious... I'll just start a new character and look into ATMA as well...

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

@Nightfish:
There is a red cancel button right next to the drop calculator button, which would have reloaded everything from scratch (and still will if you haven't exited GoMule yet, although you probably have). You could also kill the program from the operating system, and it would not have actually changed the files on the hard drive yet.

The red cancel button is the closest thing (that I know of) that GoMule has to a generic undo, but I think that's generally a good thing, since otherwise it could be used to go back to a previous set of stashes, and accidentally unsocket things and so forth. Backups have that same danger, but it's under your conscious control. A generalized undo couldn't really be written without essentially being an automatic backup restoration system.

It sounds like you just started using GoMule, and if GoMule is smart, it makes the first backup when you run it for the first time, so you should have a backup of everything. If GoMule isn't smart about that, I'd consider it a bug.

Eh. Unless you can socket stuff in GoMule I don't see how undoing actions you took in GoMule could lead to cheating. Maybe if you kept GoMule open while you played D2 and then overwrote changes made by the game? Well, first of all, if I keep GoMule open while I play D2 the text in GoMule get's totally fuxxored when I come back from D2 so yea... Second of all... It should be fairly easy to exclude actions taken outside of gomule from the undo button. After all, GoMule has to be set up to detect those changes already or it couldn't poke you about reloading files. (It's just that in my case the font dies a horrible death after it reloads files so that's not helping me much)

Either way, I got stuff back pretty much the way I wanted it and have reverted back to Atma. I could probably learn to work with GoMule but I just prefer the drag and drop mechanics of atma and the lack of self-ownage-potential buttons. :badteeth:

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

You can have both programs open at the same time, but if you don't want to create dupes or lose items it's obviously best to not have a character open in both programs at the same time. Stashes and other characters are fine, just not the one you're playing with. (Technically you can have one open in GoMule while you play as long as you don't modify the char in GoMule, but I wouldn't recommend it)

@Klonki: Check whether everything is selected under Project --> Preferences. Or is that the "all" you're speaking of? Your question is unclear; perhaps a screenshot would help.

Hi hubb! I saw your answer and here is some screenshots. I hope anyone of you can help me out..

When i only can have "uniqes on my flavie-list.

The other problem.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

To get everything into the report you do a project report, found at the left bottom. If you want only uniques and sets (for example), you'll have to put them in the same stash (easily done and undone) and do a single Flavie report.

You are truly my hero, thank you so much! It worked!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

With Thyiad's permission I have written a step by step guide for installing the RWM. If anyone would wish to contribute, want me to rephrase something or correct any mistakes I have made in the guide please tell me and I will update this with the correct information. I am not good nor do I have the experience to upload images and that could help tremendously if anyone could help with that. Thanks.

For Windows:
Extract the file RWMfor113c.zip
Inside there is a folder called RWMfor113c.
Open the RWMfor113c folder, inside will be a folder named Runewords.
Copy or move the Runewords folder to the Diablo II folder.
Create a shortcut to Diablo II.exe by right clicking on the icon and choosing create shortcut to Desktop.
Right click on the new shortcut and choose Properties.
Change the "Start In..." path to point to the copied runewords folder. The easiest way to do this is to add "\Runewords" to the existing text that is already there, inside the quotation marks. So it looks like this.
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Runewords"
Now add -direct -txt to the Target text path, outside the quotation marks. So it looks like this.
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt
Click Ok and as long as you do not get any error messages the RWM is installed. You can test it out on any of the ladder runewords.

For Ubuntu/Linux:
Extract the file RWMfor113c.zip
Inside there is a folder called RWMfor113c.
Open the RWMfor113c folder, inside will be a folder named Runewords.
Open the Runewords folder and move or copy its contents into you Diablo II folder inside wine.
Use the console and type this to run the game with the RWM:
cd /home/username/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Diablo\ II/
wine "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt
You can add the windowed tag to this as well if you'd like. Change username to your login name.
To create a shortcut create a text file with the extension .sh and type this into it:
#!/bin/sh
cd /home/username/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Diablo\ II/
wine "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt
Change username to your login name. Now right click on the shortcut and choose Properties. Click on the Permissions tab and check 'Allow executing file as Program'

Tips:
Before you sell/trash a runeword that did not create. First make sure that you have the correct runes and they are in the correct order. Then check to see if you used the right weapon or armor type. If every thing is correct, but the runeword was not created do not sell/trash the runeword. Post in the sticky for help. Once you have the RWM successfully installed the 'gemmed' item will change into the runeword.

hi there, not sure if this is the best place to ask (or even if others still play this)..

But I played this after a long long time again, - I just installed the patch 1.13c over 1.12.

I played a bit and wanted to "mule" my items to the stash I build.

However I don't see those items. They simply don't show up in atma, yet when I start diablo I see them on my account. - This is just weird. - I did install a clean install for atma 1.13c.

Is this a common problem?

I tried installing gomule, however it gives lots of errors when starting:

GoMule does not need to be installed in the normal sense. You need to make sure you have the most current version of the java runtime on your machine and just open the GoMule.jar file. I'm assuming you are using windows since you had ATMA installed and working. If you could say which version you have (7, vista or xp) or another OS (if I've assumed wrong).

This link should get you up and running with java. Download the correct version for your OS and install that. If you still get the error please let us know.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Well I fixed the first problem: was a "bug" in diablo..

I had 2 versions "installed" (on USB so I can play wherever I want), 1 with my old 1.12 in the folder "diablo II" and (copy, never a install actually I installed in a pc which died several years ago) with 1.13c, in folder "diablo II 1.13c".. Apparently, even the 1.13c version opened the save games from the "diablo II" folder..

Renaming "diablo II" to "hello_world" did the trick and now diablo uses the new save files.

I'm installing java 6.2.24 over my older 6.2.20 now, and I'm running XP sp 3...

Didn't work, still same error with gomule

Are you running the .jar file directly, or extracting it somewhere first? The stack trace you've included indicates that GoMule wasn't able to open one of the .tbl (string label) files, which are embedded in the .jar file at known paths.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

well I have a zip with a huge load of files when I download it from the given site, not a java archive file though. - And indeed those .tbl files are external it seems.

EDIT: I tried to simply rename the .zip (in case it was accidentally renamed to zip file), but to no avail: the zip won't even start as java app.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

ye, it does include "gomule.jar" - which is creating the error messages :/

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

@pulli: I think I figured it out. When I tried starting GoMule in a different directory than the one it was actually in, it gave exactly the same error messages you posted.

If you're starting it from the command line or using a script to start it up, make sure and change directories to the one that contains GoMule.jar before running it. If you're using a windows shortcut, make sure the "start in" box matches the directory that it's actually in.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

So, hopefully quick question/problem.

I'm attempting to use a muling program (I've tried both Atma V and GoMule) and I'm running into a similar problem with both. Both programs find my save files fine and pull them up without any issues. I can move things into a created stash easily enough, but when I go to save (!!* I get no error messages *!!) it just doesnt. With Atma it looks as if the save file has been edited because everytime I open that save file all my modifications are captured...but when I go back in the game I've a full stash/inventory of stuff I thought I moved into the stash. Rechecked Atma after closing the game back down, and it shows my modifications.

I didnt know what was going on so I did a search for the character save file on my computer (Maybe I had two installs *shrug*) and I only have the one.

Soooo I moved onto GoMule. Identical issue. Only this time I don't have to go into the game, everytime I close my character save file (Autosave on -- but I manually hit save as well) and reopen, its like I've never touched anything.
This is causing massive duplications in my stash -- so I end up deleting them and trying anew.

I've searched the forums, google, and this hilariously big thread without any luck. So if anyone has had a similar issue, or has ideas on how to fix it please let me know. PM or quote :D

Thanks!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

@melinith: windows version?

Could be a permission problem as DIABLO uses an outdated filemanagement system. Saving user data in the programfolder, instead of in %APPDATA% foldor - something which is promoted since win XP already, as if programs would no longer be allowed to write in %PROGRAMFILES% folder(s) windows would get much more secure.

However some companies still refused to do it, forcing windows to implement the UAC later on. This UAC is an efford to allow legacy programs to run, yet still give some security. (Though virusses obvious make use of it).

Anyways for atma/gomule this means you're probably only capable of playing it on an admin account. - They're not an official program & hence can't elevate themself above the UAC.

This is great info and probably the cause of your issues if you are using Vista or 7, melinith.

You might also try using ATMA/GoMule to open the save files directly from the virtual store (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II or C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Diablo II if you are using a 32 bit OS)

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

@Melinith: pulli is right if you are using win7/vista.
You can run as an admin which should fix it or do as Oscuro says. I find it easiest and safest to install/move Diablo II and the muling programs (ATMA/GoMule) as far away from the Program Files folder when dealing with win7/vista. I usually put them in the My Documents folder. If you are running 1.12a or 1.13c then you do not need the CD. Diablo II should not care where it was with those patches. Be sure to grab your saves from the virtual folders Oscuro mentioned if you do this. Once moved out of the Program Files folder they will save in the save folder normally.

Running GoMule as admin (Win7) gave me a whole new set of problems (also defeats the purpose of not running everything as admin), so eventually I just re-installed D2 on a data partition of my drive, which fixed everything. Didn't take much effort and beats trying to fiddle with settings and access privileges. :)
