Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

Welcome back Gorny? Are you gunna Moderate for us?

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

Only a minute left until end of day, and there has been no sign of YAWP since the day started. I've not received my dossier, none of the fights have been resolved. Me and Nolecub should be dead by now, unless by some miracle we managed to flee from our battles, maybe someone else too. At least we got a lynch.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

I was really hoping Gorny was clued in to help moderate :\

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

Well... The ****ty moderator has landed...

Looks like Sathoris was lynched.

Sathoris was Cho'Gall. Kingpin. Leader of the Twilight's Hammer Cult. Mafia.

With that, town wins.

/digests game info

Anyone have a list of actions on a per night basis? Yes, I was recruited to the cult last night **shock**.

Great game theoretically, just takes a lot to stay on top of it. This would be a great set up with a larger player base.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

Thoughts:

Well... Apart from my terrible moderating, the game went better than I had feared and worse than I had hoped.

The recruiting was totally gimped because of the lack of vanilla townies, as was the Party mechanic that I had designed.

I had developed a vigilante role (he would have been High Overlord Saurfang), but decided against actually putting him in.

The Leader role originally had an Execute command which allowed him to execute one person, killing that person instantly, but revealing who the Leader was. The Leader also had a lynch immunity, and while it would have saved him from being lynched, it would not have saved him from the role reveal.

I think the game would have been a lot more fun with 5 or 6 more people as civilians so recruiting would have been a lot better.

It also would have been better if I wasn't so forgetful.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

By the way, those were the original starting roles.

The only change was, as Nolecub said, he got recurited by the Mafia/cult on the last night.

Oh and by the way.... The Cult and the Mafia were one in the same.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

bad timing. i had fun not paying attention and trying to blame others and get myself lynched. :D however, with the holidays and you're busy life, YAWP, it was just bad timing and i feel you would've been a better mod had you had the time. :)

game-wise, it's not bad. i do have to agree with Nolecub about a lot to stay on top of and that's where the time issue comes into play.

thank you for hosting, YAWP. i actually had fun having no responsibilities and not paying attention. :D *hug*

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

no worries on the moderating, it happens to the best of us. Very interesting game mechanic, woulda been fun to see a Sathoris fight go down. I didnt get to recruit anyone, but good game by all, I think Sathoris woulda royally handed us our arses

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

So was it the Leader dies, the mafia wins and the Kingpin dies, the town wins? Would the village idiot win have been in addition to a town or mafia win? What were the percent chances on the lynch and NK resistances? Could Vol’jin get anti-town players with the dossiers? Were parties formed by the same people fighting one target or was it something else?

@Bad Ash
I thought Gorny was recruited by you?

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

Well, it looks like in the end I was right on damn near everything, except that I believed Trionth town.

So, Gorny started out as an Adventurer? I wondered why Bad Ash voted for his lynch, but apparently he did not know who he was, having never recruited him.

I knew from the dossier I got on Bad Ash that there was a traitor in existence. Oddly enough, only the last night I happened to check the traitor role in the mafiascum.net wiki, and learned that it often has a role cop power prior to being recruited. I had arrived to the conclusion on there being a role cop on my own, purely because I did not think Bad Ash could ever become vulnerable to night kills without one. On the last day, I wanted to tell the town rather badly about the traitor, and how I thought him to have the role cop power, but I did not dare even mention the traitor, in case the cult guessed it had something to do with how Bad Ash could be killed. Since the cult had to recruit the traitor, I hoped that the cult had accidentally killed him, and if they had not, I believed it would be Ankeli.

There was only one thing I did not tell the truth about, and that was the condition for me being killable. That was a half-truth, half-bluff, since I was actually only resistant to night kills. I hoped that the cult had really tried and failed to kill me, which would give my bluff the credibility it needed to work.

Oh, and Bad Ash, you and Sathoris were evenly matched. The outcome of your fight would've depended on chance, and who got the first good hit in. With Uraj potentially on your side, it is probable that Sathoris would've died anyway, since he'd have been too badly hurt to survive a second fight.

Though, I admit it would've been something to see.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

So Sathoris, did you kill me because you thought I knew more than I was saying? If so, mission accomplished.

And Gory, when you implied that I had started the game as neutral, I had to go back and reread my role PM. The first time I read it, I read townie and completely missed the Neutral Town part.

So Gorny, why were you trying to get lynched? Were you trying to bluff being Village Idiot?

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

Excuse my language but, the mafia had no ****ing chance. Every town power role was NK immune and there was no way to get them lynched. We didn't even know nurman was a cult member. Town got two cop roles and they're both NK immune.

This game was impossible to win. The only chance we had was to get equal numbers with the town, which almost worked if trionth wouldve attacked Goryani at daybreak and I killed Feysal and he killed Goryani.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

And why did the game end why I died? There were still 3 cult members left who could've won.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

I thought it was odd how readily you voted nurman the day he was exposed, if you did not know he was a cultist, that explains it. But, you did have lynch resistance. Had you lived another day, recruited Goryani and killed Uraj, the town would've lost the majority it needed to lynch. It would've been me and Bad Ash against you, Trionth, Ankeli, Nolecub and Goryani, with Leo as neutral. I don't agree that you had no chance... but I don't quite agree with how the game was decided by a dice roll.

I also think it strange that the game would end with the death of one specific role. That could've meant an exceptionally short game, if the town got lucky early on. But I don't mind too much... in the end, I think Trionth was the only one who was hidden well enough and would've had a chance of fooling the town, and he'd have needed a lot of luck to achieve that.

Anyway, I'm sort of glad that this game ended now, since I don't think it would've gotten much better if it did not. This was a bit strange, but we can get over it and move on... Who has next? Leo has been planning one for a while, and Ankeli had his Star Wars game canceled last fall.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

I wouldnt have lived another day because Uraj investigated me. I could only recruit on uneven nights, aka the night phase that wouldve happened now.

I did try and kill Uraj but guess what, ****ing NK immune again.

Re: Y.A.W.P's Warcraft Themed Pen 'n Paper RPG style Mafia Game Game Thread

Him too? Okay, that was a little too overpowered, or too lucky for the town, if our resistance kicked in both times and yours did not. You could've lived if your lynch resistance had worked, and it wouldn't have mattered that you were exposed, since you'd have had majority of the town. If I understand it right, anyway.
