This is in total IAS with base weapon speed and any added IAS on the weapon.
4 Frame = 130% total IAS
5 Frame = 105% total IAS
6 Frame = 80% total IAS

BoTD Warspike hits 7 frames, and a Grief Phase Bladedoes very good damage for its speed.

Dr@kE~

So out of this I could conclude that a perfect IAS Grief would hit 7Frames?

I made myself a little list:

Gris Caddy
Damage: (111-125) To (129-146) (120-135.5 Avg)
Speed: 50+80 = 130

BotD PB
Damage: (109-124) To (123-140) (116-132 Avg)
Speed: 30+60 = 90

EBotD PB
Base: 46.5 To 52.5
Damage: (136-186) To (184-210) (160-198 Avg)
Speed: 30+60 = 90

Grief PB
Damage: (376-436) To (380-440) (406-410 Avg)
VPD: (681-741) To (705-765) (711-735 Avg)
Speed: 30+(30-40) = 60-70

Grief Zerker
Damage: (369-429) To (416-476) (399-446 Avg)
VPD: (674-734) To (741-801) (704-771 Avg)
Speed: (30-40)

--

Now I read that Grief Zerkers are bad, and they obv. are for their speed. So I'd go for a Caddy to hit them fast, or a PGrief PB.

Now let's say I got a 15ED Kraken Shell Fort and a Monarch Nix, what would you suggest about my weapon.

The total ED should up the damage of the Caddy a lot, but give me insane damage for the Grf PB.

I'm really willing to get into this since it sounds like a hella lot of fun, PvP only that is, but I gotta get on tracks again on IAS and what not, cause all werewolf table links seem to be down whereever I look.

Thanks in advance (I did look at the 60-ish pages ;D)

missing a lot of dr for a pvp char dont you think?...

however if you are going for that setup i believe Grief is the way.. those equipment are obviously going for the dmg route.. so make the dmg insane!

if caddy.. i'd suggest duress .. dracs (instead of steelrends which should be used for the above setup.. dmg).. cus of its sexis speed OW DS CB is what you'll be using to kill others...

cheers

Kay, so SS is a must I suppose? + SoE or Dungos = 50%

I could do that but iono... the Phoenix only adds on the base dmg right? so it's nothing special considering a PB.

Grief+Fort+SS+Dungos+(whatboots?)+(what rings, skills for prebuff but then?)+Dracs.

I don't really have rends and iono, they seem to be pretty damn expensive getting them close to perfect :O

Also: 40IAS on grief is enough for the BP or do I need any OIAS (goes x1/8 right?) to get to that grief BP (which I don't know what exact IAS it needs)

Or could I get a 35IAS too, cause I just posted on the trade forums that I want a 40IAS but I'm not sure if that's the way.

hi, i'm making a wolfbarb atm, and wondering which boots i should use, gore or ik? ik would add some faster r/w,life and ar. gore would add ow,ds and cb but not as much r/w, no life and ar. which do you think would be the best choice?

OW DS and CB are pretty important to give you some chances against for example WW barbs, you're already fast as hell so I don't know if you would really want to get more speed out of the IK boots.

Sorry for the unclear post I made before, let me put this a bit more clear to answer:

- Kraken Shell Fort (too high reqs maybe?)
- Grief (what WIAS + OIAS is needed for the achievable BP?)
- SS (instead of Nix, you were so right about that I'm a retard for forgetting, screw that 3.5-4x base damage, grief only adds fixed damage anyway) What would I socket this with, Um for resistances if I need more? Pul for more def?
- MGrid + 2x 20dex raven or 3xAngelics?
- On switch aka prebuff: 2B3BO Helm, 2xSkillring, 2xEchoing, Arach, 3WC Ammy, Gores (got WWalks atm) - I take that's right?
- What gloves should I be looking for, since rends do give interesting stats, but how bout IAS, 20IAS gloves give 2.5IAS I saw?
- What Mastery should be leveled for using a Caddy O-o ?

Thanks in advance.

beloved wolfbarb fans.. :D

if your going for HIGH strength req armor.. then definitly go for steelrends(+20strength.. our dmg too low for the +ed to be effective)

i aint too sure about the IAS needed on grief.. (think its 37)

SS is nice with um (bt u can get res by other means..eg. skillers or sc..) SHAEL for goin against fast hitters (zealots fury etc) PUL is also nice...bt didnt increase def that much for me..

angelics+ravenfrost(i do angelics+2ang rings..since i use nigma and our attack speed is not slowed by cold..) is better.. unless your dueling a werewolf druid or something that has no def.. then the metalgrid n ravenfrost is enough for ar..

to prebuff... maras..2xhoto.. would be a better choice.. Y??!
because the +skills adds to your werewolf and lycanthrope transformation!!
u get a greater life and ar

i believe (if it hasnt changed from 1.10) the IAS on gloves wont be enough to increase your hits by 1fps..

caddy = mace masteries

(i personally use botd pb for some pvp.. and all pvm...i realise the dmg is not as great.. BUT its simply faster than grief..makin use of the OW/CB/DS to kill.. the 30+ means less attribute put towards strength n dex.. = life life life..)

cheers

ps: let there be light on whoever can figure out how to defeat smiters with melee chars? (some would say ww barb.. but no.. a true smiter would not loose to any ww barb)
...im think necromance.. max iron maiden.. wit beast.. transforms into a bear.. n let smiters him them?

:D

I want to do a PvM wolfbarb, but not sure about what weapon to use. Is a shaeled windhammer good enough? Any other (cheap) suggestions?

well PvM is bad with gris caddy...ill attest to that...low dmg...very low...like 1k-1.5 (at the most)

but as for the steelrends suggestion pipi for the 20str...alternatively you can always grabs an inexpensive pair of ik gloves...20 str there too right?

as for PvP tuffies..i have the hardest time against smiters and WWbarbs... the rest are ok in melee....but i would be inclined to hear some new strategies against smiters.....

i know gris caddy has low dmg.. BUT amazingly my wolfbarb has no problem clearing areas when doing key runs..boss runs.. etc (ok not cow.. but what melee physical dmg dude can clear cows easy?) just cus i hit consistantly and fast.. with cb/ds/ow :O

against smiters you can go with a lvl21 thorn aura bramble.. i've won a couple duels like that :D (but for some weird reason.. sometimes they smite me n they dont get hurt.. sometimes they just die in 1smite..)

i dont have a problem with whirlwind barbs actually..just that the duels are REALLY long.. especialy when they use mana pots ..

i wouldnt use ik gloves (cus they u HAVE to use ik boots..maybe even belt.. otherwise the bonus are just not worth it..) but use draculs if u dont have steelrends.. the lifetap and ow are definitly much needed..

cheers

Hey guys, I've read through some of this (but not all) and almost everything in here seems to be focused on pvp. Can you share your wolfbarb expertise with me concerning pvm?

I'm planning to make a pvm wolfbarb, these are my thoughts so far:

wolfhowl
highlords
+2valor
ss
'shael' azurewrath
gores
dracs? rends? something else?
verdungos? soe? nosferatu's coil? something else?
ravenfrost
rare leech/res/whatever

Is this what I should shoot for or does it need some tweaking? (and no, i don't have all of these items yet :p)

str: 165 w/ items? (for valor)
dex: 136 w/ items? (for azurewrath) or max block?
vit: rest

20 bo
20 shout
20 IS
20 sword mast
1 battle command
natural res if i need it? increase speed? (war cry and battle cry are useless as i can't cast them in wolf form, right?)

I'd love to hear some thoughts and advice from some wolfbarb vets. Thanks!

Personally i wouldnt have revivied such an old thread, but im a wolfbaba vet myself and ill give u all the advice i can provide (although next time plz start a new thread).

OK, first ditch the valor and make your self a Duress, your going to want the crushing blow and resist and such for pvm. Gloves you can go w/ w/e your heart desires, dracs if you want leech and str and extra open wounds, rends if you want more crushing blow and dmg, bloodfists if you want more life and fhr, rares for dual leech and w/e. For the belt dungo or soe is your best bet imo. Id make sure to um the wolfhowl for extra resist if you need it or you can put w/e else you need like a pruby for life, ptopaz for a bit of mf, etc etc. Also dont forget to sheal your ss for extra block (wolf's block is terrible).

As for skills, you've got the right idea. For the rest like increased speed and nat. resist just put ur remain skills into them untill you see really bad returns lol. Usual stat placement, as much str to equip the heaviest item, nuff dex for max block, rest vita.

Also on a side note, make sure you get as many +all skills on your switch item(s) as possible. Best of course is dual hotos but on a buget u can get by with something like a +4 ondal or a mang staff.

Hope this helps, if you need ne thing else id make a thread for some better results or you can pm me for ne more advice.

No, please do not start a new thread. He came to the right place old or not. There's a reason why this has not been locked, and any one is welcomed to ask here. There are people more than willing to help here.

You just linked a link to the thread the guide is in lol. Ill check out the thread your talking about though

wolfbaba's all the way!!

Hey there, sorry for bumping this, but I have acquired a Wolfhowl helm and some melee gear, so I'm considering making a wolfbarb for PvM.

What weapon should I choose? Right now my options are:
1- AzureWrath - decent dmg and good speed.
2- Upped Ribcracker - 50% CB, good speed, more defense, very sweet noise when you hit the enemies, but no shield.
3- Grief PB - huge damage, may not be as fast as the other two but the damage would make up for it, right?

Any other suggestions? Is Oath a good weapon for a wolfbarb?

Also, if I pick a 1-handed I'll pick Stormshield for defense, resists etc. Best shield hands down.

Someone help me figure out the best option, please.

Ah, ill suggest to you the same set up that i suggested to Mr.Zip

Go with the Azure, sheal'd, so you will have that bit of magic dmg that will be able to easily deal with any immunes that you may come acrossed. Sadly though a Up'd Ribcracker, even with a sheal, is going to hit at 13 frames, and that is a very slow speed to be swinging with w/o a sheild (if im wrong on this will someone please correct me) not to mention its only a range 2 where if your goign 2 hand youll want something 4+, like a eBoTD Great Poleaxe is goign to hit the same speed as the ribcracker but at least it will have range 5.

For the armor your going to want crushing blow and Duress, imho, is THE best pvm armor for a wolfbarb.

Jewelery you can go many ways, Highlords/Raven/xxx, Metalgrid/Raven/xxx, though i rank Highlords to be top choice for my pvm wolfbaba.

When you get the ss make certain to put a sheal into it for the extra blocking speed, youll need it.

Gores for boots to add to your cb.

Socket the wolfhowl with whatever area you need to make up whether its resistance, life, enhanced dmg, fhr, etc.

Just remember that a wolfbarb doesnt have THAT much room for mf besides a PT in the helm, a nagel for a ring, and a Ist in the SS if your a big spender lol. Good luck man, hope you have a good time with him man!

-BLoke :smug:

ps. PM me if you have any further questions or you can post back here w/e works for ya

Thanks a lot for the reply!

Hmm, so Azurewrath is the way to go then.

I have a fewquestions still, though, I hope you guys don't mind. :)

First on the armor: Duress has always been a favorite of mine, it is comparable to Fortitude in many aspects and I assume it's best to take an offensive approach through Duress' CB other than Fort's %ED, since the Phase Blade physical damage isn't that high to start with, right? Although I generally pick Fort for its godly defensive and offensive bonuses, I can see why Duress would be preferable in this case. I assume you guys have tested this throrougly since Fort came out anyway. So Fort isn't needed at all, right? That increases my chance of getting good equipment, as Azure + Duress is roughly worth 2 Ums, while Grief + Fortitude would be much more than that. Yay!

Second question, how do you guys handle the leveling, as no combat skills will be available until lvl 79? I'm looking at the Passion runeword for +1Zeal and +1Berserk and it seems tempting to use through NM. A Lightsabre or Djinn Slayer on the main attack hand would be used for attacking. Opinions?

The rest of my equipment is, as of now:
- Gores
- Highlords
- Raven Frost
- Rare double leech/resist/AR ring
- Dracs
- Stormshield
- Verdungos

The standard melee gear, as you see. Some wouldn't be absolutely needed, like Dungos, but since I have one I'd pick it over the (also excellent for melee) String and Nosferatu's.

On weapon switch I'll have 2 spirit swords for prebuffing. For socketing I'm thinking Shael or Um, depends on how my resists look like. Am I well covered?

My last question is... does anyone have an Azurewrath for trade on US East? I have a few mid runes such as Pul and Lem to offer for it until I get something Um-worthy. :jig:
