'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

Hi everyone,

maybe i should wait with my update, for the thread to drop back to the third page. Anyway, played my sorc a bit last night. She progressed as quickly as ever, blasting everything in sight. Despite my late decision to head for the full block option, she has now 45% block, with a 60% block rhyme bone shield. A few more levels for 50%, then i'll start looking for a higher block shield.
So: progress. Persephone, blazed through the icy trails, plains and the ancients way to meet the ancients. She dumped a few potions on the summit, and tuned the players setting down to 1. Click, and start running. With blaze and orb preselected she set of, feeding her merc a few potions. The first ancient fell very quickly, followed by a second one, leaving a cold immune one engaging my merc. He died after having a bunch of meteor getting dropped on his head, and the way to Baal was open. Allthough i wanted to continue, i was tired, and felt a bit overconfident. So i quit, to do a few MF pindle/eldritch/shenk runs with one of my chars from TWD 1. Best drop from these few runs: a ginthers rift.

Persephone only gained one level, but that was because i didn't fully clear everything.

I finally had the motivation to play these chars again. Sorry everyone, but they are weak to the point of being tedious so I only play them when I'm in the mood for a challenge.

I'm really amazed that I've been able to get March this far. I think at least every other boss pack was an NDE for him. Duriel was pretty much the only thing that didn't come near to killing him. Hooray for his lovely drop of rares with uber mods like +1 light radius...

February also moved forward and has killed Izual. Next up for her is the hellforge. Anyone want to take bets on what rune it drops? Winner gets a cracked sash!

Mich - WP: Flayer Jungle - Last Quest: Found the Eye
Theres - WP: Pandemonium Fortress - Last Quest: Killed Mephisto

Time for another update.
I moved Theres through Act 3. The jungles were a little bit difficult because of these fast moving Flayers. I found the direct way from the Spider Forest into the Flayer Jungle and bypassed the Great (Gloam) Marsh. When I reached Lower Kurast I did a few runs (~10) of the area. I found some Grand Charms and a good number of gems that were cubed to perfect.
I had my first tough fight when entering the Ruined Temple. I meet a Vampire boss pack in the first chamber, a Flesh Hunter boss pack and Sarina in the main chamber. It took my some time to clear out everything. But in the end I rescued the Book.
The rest of the way to Travincal was really easy. When reaching Travincal I had a nice encounter with a Hierophant boss pack and 3 other Hierophant packs. The Zealots were dispatched easily, but the Hierophants kept healing each other, so it took me some time to kill the first one, after that they all fell nicely.
The Council managed to kill my merc after I killed the first unique one. Some time later the Orb could be smashed and the way was clear to enter the Durance. The stairs to the second level were found quickly as always. But on the second level I had to nearly clear out the whole level to find the stairs. I will have to reroll this map, because I intend to run Mephisto a few times to find some nice items for Hell.
The third level of the Durance was a tough fight to clear out all the monsters so I could take on Mephisto on its own. But he fell rather quickly to my Orbs and Meteors after I found the right standing distance for my Orbs to exactly hit him when they release their final 16 shards . He didn't drop anything usefull.
I did some GC rerolling. I didn't manage to cube a skiller, but I cubed these little babies:
Sharp Grand Charm of Life
Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Required Level: 21
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 47
Fingerprint: 0x82ebb1ff
+18 to Life
+71 to Attack Rating

Pestilent Grand Charm of Anthrax
Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Required Level: 34
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 52
Fingerprint: 0xf6c72697
+301 poison damage over 12 seconds

Nice progess everyone.

I had some time to play after my diving expedition on sunday. Offcourse i had to see if Persephone could beat Baal, a job for which she is more or less designed. Found it a bit difficult on players 3, with Baal cloning early on.
My merc died twice, so he surely needs better equipment, for which I'll need to run Baal, so that is a bit tricky.
I retried on players 1, which was a lot easier. Still no drops to speak of (green longsword and breastplate).
After that Persephone went cow-hunting, trying to clear the pasture lands at players 8. Heavy work, since FO doesn't kill the cows fast enough anymore. Good for another level though, and a bunch of gems. Hardly any runes though, which is what i was hoping for.

After that i did a short run with Morpheus, trying to gain him some xp. The bloody hills didn't really give enough xp, so he went and explored the first halls (of anguish?) That gained him his desired level, so i quit before finding the waypoint, so i'll be forced to kill some more demons on my way down next time.

The squid ate my last update. Here we go again.

I moved Theres through Act 4. No Gloams like monsters, so no problem there. All died resonably fast. Izual was a real pushover. The Merc tanked him and I threw Orbs and Meteors.
I went on into the River of Flames. It had Maggots, Storm Casters and Pit Lords. No problem. The fight with Hephasto was a little longer, as I had to run away from him and cast Fireballs and Orbs over my shoulder, because he kept attacking me instead of the merc. But in the end he died and left a nice hammer to smash the soul stone and I got a LUM. This was not the UM I have hoped for, but it enabled me to create a Memory staff for Theres.
Then I did a few Lower Kurast runs to get some more items. There I found this nice amulet for Theres:

Havoc Beads
Amulet
Required Level: 31
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 52
Fingerprint: 0x5ab3b00a
+1 to Maximum Damage
Damage Reduced by 1
Fire Resist +17%
Lightning Resist +17%
Cold Resist +35%
Poison Resist +17%
+1 to Sorceress Skill Levels

Afterwards I did a few (~50) Mephitso runs, but didn't get what I was hoping for (Vipermagi, SoJ). But I found out that Mephisto must have a rather large store of green splint mails.

After that I started again with Franz. And I had a real blast playing him. As I had a few nice charms waiting for him, he got a upgrade. He now does 0.8-2.2k Damage with an AR of 5.5k. His warcry stuns for 5 seconds and he has 350 mana and 1.5k life. All resists are around 60, except for poison which is maxed.
The Jungle was a nice routine of stun and hack. This was really fun when Franz was mobed by these Flayers. Stunning 20 Flayers at once can be really nice, they just stand there waiting to die. The blowdarters were Taunted, which made them less annoying than usual.

The same for me, probably my last two updates, but both were small.
Anyway, Morpheus advanced a small step again, by beating nihlatak. The most dangerous things were the poison vipers hanging around there, the CE didn't seem to hurt much.
After that he advanced into the icy way to be nearly killed by a pack of might enchanted extra fast frenzytaurs. My 11 K defense meant nothing to them.
The Merovingian also advanced one waypoint (and one level), by succesfully clearing the icy ways.

I moved Franz through the rest of Act 3. Everything fell quickly. The Council took some time to lure out of the temple but was dead shortly after (Battle Cry does wonders here).
Mephisto took some time to kill (p4), but he wasn't dangerous at all. And he droped crap.
Entering Act 4. The Outer Steppes had Doom Knights, these baby spitters and these annoying small gritters that jump around all the time. No problem once everything is stunned the monsters just wait to be killed. The Plains of Despair had Gloams, Mana Suckers and Corpse Spitters. Because Franz has high lightning resists (70) this was nothing to worry about. I collected a lot of gems for cubing. Izual was killed quickly and Franz invested the 2 skill points into Battle Orders. That got maxed. He is now pumping Howl to synergise WarCry and Berzerk (more damage :D ).
As I still had some time left for playing I entered the River of Flames to get to the Hellforge. The River had Udars, Maggots and Pit Lords. Stun and slay. Hephasto was hit by Battle Cry and could do little damage afterwards. The Hellforge gave me a KO. Nice, but this is IMHO the most useless rune for this char.
I went on into the Chaos Sanctuary to give it a try. I always dreaded this area when playing mellee chars without Berzerk. But with Franz this was just plain fun. Stun the Doom Knight run to the OKs stun them and kill them first. The Merc was once killed by IM, but Franz never was in serious trouble. Diablo. Hah. His Lightning Breath just tickled Franz. He dropped crap as always.
Franz current stats: Life 2k, Mana 400, Defense: 900, Resists: 75/59/70/75, Damage: Berzerk: 900-2.4k, WarCry: 205-218, AR 6.1k. Perhaps now it is obvious why I like this char (maybe more than Theres the Meteorb).

Next up: Mich is lacking behind, as always.

As you can see I have managed to kill Mich. I have just started playing with him again. I went from the Flayer Jungle Waypoint into the jungle and was mobed by a group of Flayers. Mich couldn't get out. Then the Merc died and the HolyFreeze was gone. And now to make matters worse a group of blow darters was aiming at Mich instead of the Merc...

Ouch killed by flayers, You couldn't get a curse off in time?
I have never tried a bone necro, but they must be more difficult then my safety first summoner, that's for sure.

@ everyone: Hi

Played an hour + last night, getting some major progress. My necromancer, The Merovingian was up, so I advanced him from the icy ways to the ancients, stopping for a second to gather some decent revives(frenzytaurs) and then the match was on.
And over before i knew it, even with a FE ancient. Only noticed that when he was the last one left, so i made sure i stayed out of the way. After that i explored the WSK untill i found the way point and called it a day.
Gained a level in the process as well as my point, so all was good.
No big finds though, a vidala's fetlock is all i remember.

So: this weekend finish The Merovingian, and then back to leveling Morpheus, see if i can get him to level 70 before facing the ancients.
edit: found a three socketed elite sword for Morpheus as well, may make a kings grace for him. forgot the type, but it looked okay.

Yes that really hurts. This hurts even more than loosing my Bowazon to Normal Duriel in my first run for this tourney. As to Curses: I didn't invest that many points in curses. Only enough to get Decripify. All other points were spent in the Bone skills to pump up Bone Spear and Spirit.
I think the main problem was, that I should have used Dim Vision in that situation. With a few point in there I should have been able to curse all the flayers and escape...

Hey team :)

Don't mind my lack of updates. I'm having a little breather playing Rome: Total War, recovering from my first death. I'll get my head together and continue on with the other characters soon.

Hi everyone,

A lot of playing time last weekend. I did go out to the beach on friday, but got a huge blister on my foot, so sitting on my chair seemed a better option for the rest of the weekend.

Anyway, played my necromancer, The Merovingian, who fought his way to Baal, easily killing all the minions. Baal himself couldn't do anything, being decrepped, so that was over quickly. After that a cow hunting tour to really finish Nightmare. One more conqueror ready to start Hell (well, after a few more levels)

Sunday I played Morpheus, and advanced him to the ancients way. He is doing quite well, i made him a Kings grace sword which is faster then his cruel Naga, and does a bit more displayed damage, so with the extra damage to demons and undead it should be a lot better. So I fully cleared all area's, and the ancients way will be my leveling ground for now.
Made a level and a half, so that was a step in the right direction.

Went home early yesterday, mostly to do shopping, but I also had some time leftover for playing DII.
Since Morpheus is my biggest problem, i played him, to see what he could do.He gained another level clearing the ancients way. Offcourse i got a bit bored of doing leveling runs, so decided to take a quick peek at the summit, just to see how the ancients would spawn.
And spawn very lucky they did. Two had stone skin, but only one of those was PI, and the third one had the poison attack. He died first anyway, so that was over with quickly. The PI ancient was a bit tricky as i had no mana potions, but with the use of berserk and a few ful rejuvs (for the mana) He also bit the dust. Another level gained and one step further towards Hell!

Franz - WP: Harrogath - Last Quest: Killed Diablo
Theres - WP: Cold Plains - Last Quest: Killed Bloodraven

The last week I have moved Theres through Act 5. The Foothills and the Plateau were easy to medium hard. The ranged attackers posed a little thread to Theres. She had to drink a lot of red potions. Shenk was killed easily and the barabarians were freed soon afterwards. Rescuing Anya was no big problem even when the Frozen River had Gloams (75% lightning res does the trick). After that I searched for Nili. When I gone into his room I dropped a few Meteors onto his head and he was toast.
After that short detour I made my way up to the Arreat Summit. In the Ancients way I found this charm:

Chilling Grand Charm of Inertia
Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Required Level: 42
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 62
Fingerprint: 0x4840a06a
7% Faster Run/Walk
+1 to Cold Skills (Sorceress Only)

Just what I was rerolling charms for since I am able to find level 50 grand charms :D .

The Ancients gave me a nice first roll (no FE or anything else dangerous). They managed to kill my merc early on, so I had to run around the summit and cast Orbs over my back. After some time (~4 minutes) I managed to kill them all on my own. And it was just in time, as I ran out of mana potions.
The WSK was easy, I reached the WP in no time.
As I entered the throne I was greeted by OKs. It although had frenzytaurs and undead dolls. I cleaned out just the minimum to make my way into the throne room. The throne room was cleaned out shortly afterwards.
I made ready for baals minions. First I greated each wave with a few meteors. What was left after that was killed with orbs. That worked reasonably well for the first 4 waves. But Lister and his pack took some time to kill. The Merc managed to tank them. I don't know how he did that, but he needed no potions to keep him alive.
After that fights, Baal was really easy, just a little annoying. When I had him down to a sliver of his life left. He cast a few knockback ice attacks, so I couldn't cast the last Orb needed to kill him. I teleported behind him and killed him with a orb in his back. He didn't drop any usefull stuff.
Theres took on the cows on /p4. One cow as kind enough to drop a HEL rune. After a few merc revives the Cowking was dead and Theres had finished Nightmare.
I took Theres straight into Hell to search for a new weapon for Franz. I am especially looking for a Silver Edged Axe to make another Honor runeword in it. Theres cleared the Den and killed Bloodraven rather easily (all on /p1). After Bloodraven was dead I explored the whole Mausoleum but didn't find any usefull items there. But I found out, that this is a good hunting ground for Theres, because there are only lightning immune monsters in there. I think I will pay the Mausoleum a few more visits.

Hi everyone,

Had a long weekend, with lots to do , but also some time for playing DII.
I firts did a few Baal runs with both Persephone and the merovingian. This leveled both to 74, and gave me one very surprising item: a gold ring. Always exciting to identify, it turned out to be a .... SoJ!
I equipped it, giving Morpheus a nice boost to skills (and thus defence). I simply must use this thing, since it is my first ever HC SoJ. Secretly I would have preferred a Ravenfrost, but this is already to good to be thru.

Newly equipped and levelled to 71 Morpheus went to meet Baal, and possibly move that one small step further. He managed to tank every minion Baal threw at him, including Lister. Great fun, seeing your Barb standing in front of a bunch of minions, just ignoring them and slowly killing them. Baal himself was annoying, but he died afetr a slow and long fight.

After that a quick cow expedition, which was not very exciting. Did make level 72, so that was good. Morpheus immediately equipped his conqueror item: a tal rasha's crest!

Moving Cristahlia through Act II extremely slowly. I'm taking my time through the Maggot Lair especially since Dysarinad's death. Cubing a medium charm netted a 32 life / 8% CR result (very needed), and I managed to also cube an 11 life small charm into an 18 life small charm. Resists are not that bad, especially after finding a ring with +12 all resists (that was quite a help and should serve as a reminder to everybody to identify ALL jewellery - just in case!)...

Well, I guess this will be my last update for this tournament. I stopped playing D2 and did a complete wipe of the game, my characters, and my stashes. I'm just now returning to playing D2, but my TWD team is gone, so the Subheroes are no more.

The only stash I didn't delete was my prize stash for this tourney, as I planned on announcing my departure earlier, but other things were taking up my time and I eventually forgot. So I'll be e-mailing my prize stash to you, Psycho.

Good luck to all those who are still left!

Theres - WP: Black Marsh - Last Quest: Killed the Countess

At first I did some Mausoleum runs with Theres. Found a few uniques (in the price stash) but no usable runes. Then Theres set out to rescue Cain. On the way I had major trouble with ranged attacks. I decided to switch from a 2 handed staff to orb and shield. Luckily I had a rare orb saved up for this occasion. I did a few more Mausoleum runs until I found a Heater (Theres just has enough strength to carry one). The Heater got socketed and I made a rhyme RW in it. As I had no stat points in Dex I have abyssmal blocking. So I tryed my luck with crafting a safety amulet. I think I needed like 10 tries until I managed to craft an acceptable amulet. Then I imbued coronets, I found while running the countess (for runes for crafting). I spent all my 4 available imbues and managed to get something descent on the last try (+1 sorc skills, +11 res). While running the Countess I found a Superior Thresher.
With that I retired Theres for a short while to catch up with Franz. After some charm rearranging I set out to clean the Foothills and kill Shenk. After that I was able to socket the Thresher and create a Honor runeword (I like this one, it is very cheap and has some descent stats). With his new weapon Franz cut through the rest of the outdoor areas like a hot knive through butter. I stopped with him after he managed to rescue Anya. He now has .8k-4.4k damage.
