'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

Way to go Gouda. An Um rune - I can only dream.

I managed to get a fair bit of gaming in over the long Easter weekend, which has meant some decent progress for my characters. I pushed Sara through most of Act 3, through Travincal and into the Durance. After quickly finding the stairs down in Durance 1, she plodded through Durance 2, going all the way around the edges without finding the waypoint (she did find the stairs down, but my stash was full, and inventory rapidly filling, so she wanted to get the wp and unload. There were some blank bits in the middle, so the wp must be in there. However, then my computer crashed, and now she'll have to go back & find it all again - so frustrating. Fortunately, she didn't lose anything that she'd found, so it wasn't too bad.

Following that episode, I decided to return to Klaudia. So after shuffling all the items around, Klaudia pushed her way through most of Act 2. She's now in the Arcane Sanctuary, having tried three out of the four arms for the Summoner and missed (which seems to be my standard at the moment). She had a couple of NDEs in the palace cellar, and eventually had to give up on one direction as it was too tough - skeleton archers, cursed bosses, nothing to leech from for her or my merc. The other way was a breeze, though.

Um...yeah, this is my official I'm going into lurking post. I suddenly lost interest in pretty much all games. I may pick my exhibition team back up occasionally, but I doubt it will be anytime soon.
 
I took Klaudia out for a short run last night. She made it through the remaining branch of the Arcane Sanctuary quite easily, although her SM was quite annoying in it's habit of casting mind blast on a monster who she had whittled down its hp to a sliver. The Summoner was an easy kill, and she moved on to the waypoint.

Seeing as I had a little time left, I took her out to find which tomb was the right one. She found it first go, although her merc died, and it was almost time to head back to the wp, but I decided to kill a few more monsters first. She came across a bunch of maggots and beetles that had gotten themselves stuck behind a part of the ground that they couldn't cross, so I decided to finish them off before going back. The shadow's MB came into play then, and really blocked them off from reaching her, as well as her from reaching them. So I sat back and waited for it to wear off before being able to get stuck into the stragglers.

While waiting for this, I was inattentive to her life bulb, and then suddenly she was dead. I'm not quite sure how - they were not minions, so it wasn't FE. She was slain by a beetle, and there was a bit of lightning around, but she had maxxed resists, so it wasn't doing much damage. I couldn't see any ranged attackers there either.

Oh well, nothing I can do about it now. I'll just have to be a bit more careful & attentive with Sara. Hopefully I can get her into Hell and past the Countess.

Sorry to hear about that mage11. Hopefully you haven't lost to much (both equip and motivation).
I had a lot of progress (well for my standards) during easter, so a quick report to what happened more.

SoOme progress during easter monday, and then i had to prepare a luxury meal for me and my girlfriend. At that point i stabbed myself in the hand, rather badly, so first aid had to be visited.
Luckily it is my left (not dominant) hand so i can still play DII, with a mouse. Operating a few things with my left hand is still okay. So now at home for a few days unable to work, but a few hours of DII a day are possible.

Oh well, i'll keep it short since typing is rather difficult

Mage11 I'm sorry to hear of another loss. My condolences to you. At least reflect on the fact that you have attained a better score than your last TWD effort and that Klaudia made that possible :)

Not much news from me other than the fact I'll be starting Act II Hell with the Druid soon. Just after I get this damn Zon up to lvl 79, which shouldn't take too long at all!

Yeah, things are a bit better already. Swelling has gone down, and my bandage has gone down in size to a folded over 4 by 4 (cm that is.)
Downside: back in work for some designing jobs: i have reported that i am not able to program yet.

So a last major update from yesterday evening: Played my skelliemancer (least strain on the hands), and he rescued Anya, and went on to tackle Nihlatak. Surprisingly easy, as there was little that could resist my army.
Gained two levels while questing, and a nice bonus to my resist offcourse. Dumped a point into revive for 4 revives and one more in raise mage. 4 more points in raise mage and that one will be maxed as well. They actually seem to doing some damage.

Tried my hand on some gambling and cubing afterwards, getting a 8% resist small charm. Also imbued a elite scythe type thing, but got a worthless result, so that's one imbue less. Gambled a 24% res. all circlet, which will serve my mercs well in Hell. Also another circlet with teleport charges (already had one with 7% res. all), with 25% fire and lightning resist. Still hoping for one with necro skills and teleport and resists. Oh well, i will still dream when this tourney is finished.

No actual progress, but I've sorted through Sara's stash to determine what is to be kept & what is to be put away.

A stack of gems and some nice runes had to be put away, as they weren't likely to be of much help in the future. I still have enough motivation, as I want to get her further than I managed last time. In the end, the main difference so far from last time is Klaudia, who managed to go a whole difficulty further. Hopefully Sara can make a difference too - slowly, slowly & eventually I'll get me a Guardian.

Sorry to hear of your injury, Gouda. Hopefully it's not too bad (and if it is, you shouldn't be typing).

Franz made some progress and got some fancy new equipment.
But before playing Franz I did a few Countess runs with Theres and it actually paid off. Not that I got another 3 IO runes, but the Countess dropped a Amulet with +2 Warcries and resists on it. I didn't know she could drop such good stuff.
Franz' warcries got a major update with this Amulet. While playing Franz through the Arcane Sanctuary he found a Gothic Axe. I took a risk and tried to cube sockets into it. I got 5. Groovy. Now Franz uses a Honor Gothic Axe insted of his upgraded rare Maul. In the same run he found a new Horned Helm:

With that new equipment, it was like a walk in the park through the Canyon and the true Tomb to get to Duriel. I lowered the bar to player 1, which wasn't really needed. Whenever Franz hit Duriel he took away a good amount of his life, so the fight lasted no longer than a minute. He dropped a helm:

The Helm it not better than my current one, so it went into my private stash, but the ring gave Franz a huge mana boost. He now has a mana pool of 320. Maybe I socket my current Helm to get more mana, but I will wait until I really need it. Before that he had 240 mana, that wasn't enough, he had to drink a lot of blue potions. I didn't spend any stat points in Energy. His WarCry is now Level 19 or 20, costs around 30 mana to cast and stuns for nearly 5 seconds.

Next up: Get Mich through Act 1 and maybe Act 2.

I continued with Sara, and have taken her past Mephisto and through most of Act 4. She's now at the river of fire waypoint, having easily defeated Izual and smashed the soulstone. Unfortunately, she only got a Shael Rune. However, she will hold onto that as it may come in useful later.

Sara has progressed further now, and slain Diablo. In all, she lost the valk a couple of times to IM, the merc once to IM and the merc again to Diablo. It got a whole lot easier when Diablo finally focussed on trying to kill her valk and couldn't. Sara is now ready to take on Act 5.

just a quick update, on a more personal touch.
My hand has healed quite well, allthough I still have an angry red scar. A few more weeks for that one to go down, and a neat thin line will be all to remind me of this injury. I have counted, and this is my 9th scar on my hands, compared to 1 on the rest of my body.
I conclude that cooking is a much more dangrerous hobby then off road cycle cross (which is where i got that other scar). Luckily cooking is hardly ever lethal :).

I don't think i have time to test my hand this weekend though, as I'll be off to visits friends on friday, and staying over there to pick up my fixed and maintained car from another friend on saturday. Diving on sunday will fill my last day, so I won't have much spare time left to devote to my GF let alone DII. Hopefully some evening or spare moment next week!

It took me the whole week to get Mich throught Act I. In normal he could kill most monsters with one hit from his Bone Spear. Now he needs two or more. His fire resist suck too (-1).
Halfway throught the Act I realised, that using an Act 5 Merc was a mistake. I had no life leech on him, so he kept dying all the time. From the Cathedral to Andariel I had to resurrect him after every fight that involved more than 5 monsters. I changed that when I reached Act II and hired a HF Merc.

Another update...
Played Mich throught Act 2 yesterday. In the Arcane Sanctuary I found a Shrunken Head with +3 Bone Spear and 2 Sockets. I put Rhyme into it. Michs damage went up to 1.1k.
With his new Head, the rest of Act 2 was rather easy. Duriel fell very quickly. He didn't drop anything useful.
After killing the big Bug I went into the Jungle to find some Level 50 Grand Charms to cube, because I had a big load of perfect gems and no room for more. I managed to cube a Shimmering GC with +13 res all.
 
Well, my journey is over, and earlier than I'd hoped. Sara has fallen to (of all things) Shenk's minions. I've never even had an NDE with these guys before, and it shouldn't have happened, except I hit the wrong potion button, and it was too late. She was hit by three of them that convenientlly ran past my merc, valk & decoy.

I'll start preparing my prize mules now, although there's not going to be much worthwhile on there.

Update: just a short one, Persephone cleared all the different hall's gaining two lvls and another point for the score board. She killed Nihlatak rather easily, since he waited for the meteors to drop on his head instead of his usual teleporting and moving about. He didn't need many meteors since i turned down the players setting for the last level, trying to avoid the worst of the CE-effects. Nothing else of note happened, no remarkable drops or anything.

Next up Morpheus vs. Nihlatak.
After that: leveling or the ancients immediately? We'll see.

I moved Theres through Act 2. No problems there. Cut it back to p1 for killing Duriel. He dropped another Rockfleece, the rest was rare. Theres is now off to grand charm hunting. Maybe I can cube another skiller, but I don't think so.

Dysarinad has started his run into Act II Hell. Radament has fallen and now we are slowly moving on through the Maggot Lair and then the Viper Temple.
 
Warning

Teleporting can kill you.

That's right, folks. Notch up the first death for me due to my stupidity in the Maggot Lair, and with a character that I thought would have the best chance to make it all the way.

Scenario: Maggot Lair, 1 boss pack of Beetles, 1 Staff of Teleportation on switch.

Method: Switch to Staff of Teleportation when cursed to retreat...forget to switch back to Wand/Shield combination.

Click on door to enter room where boss pack is waiting. Accidentally click further than door and next to Scarab Beetles.

Jamming of buttons for Purple Potions.

Death ensues.

One loud "Ah ****! No, you fool!", later and there's one less H.C character alive and one more dark shrouded icon in my character screen.
