'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

Played a a couple of hours last weekend, with decent progress to show for it. With no more need for Countess runs all my Chjars are back in full questing mode.
First Morpheus, he slowly made his way through act I, stopping only for repairs, or the few times his merc went down. Could do with a better Merc armor, but we'll see what i get on my way for now. Exciting times: maybe fighting Andariel, but that was because the merc died a few times and gumpy my trusty clay golem didn't last long either. Morpheus himself was never in any real danger, allthough caution is still good. The pit held a bunch of fanatism enchanted archers that had to be taunted around the corner.
No finds either, not even a good rune when he killed the countess.
I did re-arrange some more equipment, raising my defense by a few more points. He is now drinking a beer in Atma's bar, complaining about all the heavy gear in that heat.

Next day: Persephone. Freed from her countess runs she blazed through act I and got rid of andy easily(i guess orbed through act I would be better, oh well...). With her high block set up, 75% res. all and 800 hitpoints she can actually take a few hits before things get really dangerous. Still, the merc is again a problem. I hope i'll find a nice merc weapon soon, as both Persephone and the Merovingian have a merc weapon on their reward list.
One interesting encounter that persephone had to flee from, again some archer group. It was immediately after a waypoint, so i simply restarted the game, and moved onwards. She will continue next, exploring act II.

Team the Matrix II (Gouda) – 222 points
Conqueror Morpheus - (Barb – Warcries/Com.Skills) – lvl 75 – Act II Hell - Out for revenge.
Conqueror Merovingian - (Necro - Summon/Curse) – lvl 79 – Act II Hell - Finished.
Conqueror Persephone - (Sorc Fire/Cold) – lvl 83 - Act II Hell - Out for revenge.

Have fun, don't die,

1.11 musings

Hmm,

Haven't been playing much lately; the usual RL reasons, allthough in this case they are all happy reasons, as i have to organize a massive wedding party. Also have been working a lot lately, doing change coordination instead of (well on top of actually) my normal programming job. Still, good for my career, bad for my latent RSI, which is another reason to take it easy.

So as a result of this my progress in this tournament is painfully slow, and I guess it will take me at least till the end of the year to finish (assuming I don't kill my chars). At the same time i want to try out 1.11, and can't be bothered to dual install (will take another week out of my playing time).
I think finishing this tournament in 1.11 would be unfair, even if i don't use the new runewords. My barb would be a lot safer (and that for a iron barb build) when he doesn't have to worry about the FE bug anymore. As would my other chars, allthough they should keep their distance.
I made some progress still in 1.10, but nothing interesting.

Thus I think i will install 1.11, and retire from this tourney, sending in my stash and final score. I'll keep playing my chars according to the rules, but I'll use the (few) new runewords, if i ever find the runes for it. I still think it will be crescent moon and gloom for my mercs, so it will probably not change much.

Let me know if there is any comment on my preliminary decision, and thanks for hosting this tournament!

Team the Matrix II (Gouda) – 224 points
Conqueror Morpheus - (Barb – Warcries/Com.Skills) – lvl 76 – Act II Hell - looking for horadric bits.
Conqueror Merovingian - (Necro - Summon/Curse) – lvl 79 – Act III Hell - Finding statues.
Conqueror Persephone - (Sorc Fire/Cold) – lvl 83 - Act II Hell - looking for horadric bits.

Have fun, don't die,

I think the rules don’t need any changes, except fallowing:

Item Restrictions
  • Mule off Set and Unique items (preferably onto stashes please)
Don’t you think that collecting every single green breast plate is boring like hell?
I propose to change this rule to:
  • Name at least one character according to your forum name.
  • Personalize any item as soon as you finish respective quest and send all your personalized items to host after your finish.
Just imagine “AlterEgo’s Circlet of Powerâ€, Teh Item I’d like to fight for.

Any thoughts?

time to close this tournament isn't it ?

Nemar , is it you, returned?
I'm happy to stop this tournament now if it means you'll particpate in the next!
Anyway, as said before, my chars will continue as exibition team, so don't worry. I don't stand a chance of winning anyway, so let's give the prizes away and start a new one! The winner can count on an extra goodies stash from me anyway, as i'll keep collecting.

yes , my name is Nemar, Jean Nemar (private joke  ) , I don't remember old password so new account....
I don't know if I will participe to a next one, I will buy a new computer so start more recent games. perhaps. I'm looking at the new patch, but it's seem no really difference with ancien 1.10

Hello all :)

Still going on with my characters, but if by popular demand everybody chooses to stop this tournament now, I will agree and hand out the prizes. It is up to you, the members of this forum, and more importantly, the members of this tournament, to make that decision.

Simply reply with your opinion and we will see what happens :)

Maybe it sounds strange, but this tournament can continue normally while the new one can start.

The tourney doesn't finish while someone's still playing.

However, I agree that there's nothing stopping you from starting a new one.

Hi everyone,

Sorry about that psycho, with the lack of updates i assumed all particpants had dropped out. Luckily I am back from a big event in my RL, my wedding. Maybe a bit more DII after arranging everything, but life is still busy.
I will keep going with the tournament, but a new one sounds good, I'll follow their progress closely, but i don't think i'll participate. Just a 4 more chars to go for my septavirate, so depends on how many i can pull through alive in this tournament.

Anyway, you'll hear from me soon!

Hey congrats on the wedding

On the tourney:
I would really like it if a new tourney would start. But I can wait (as if I have another chance :D )

Gouda that is absolutely fantastic news :). Good luck with a long and happy marriage!

I will seriously consider starting a new tournament whilst this one concludes. I know I am still working on both characters, and yes, this will most likely be a 1.11 tournament, not a 1.10. I'm not too sure if I'll keep the same format with restrictions or even switching from Hardcore - do you people think it has gotten stale at all, or is reasonably good in regards to interest and limitations?

I look forward to hearing more opinions soon :)

I have participated in this, the second, edition and have first edition thread hosted here (enjoy color codes that was on SPF long time ago).
I like reading tournaments threads. So I think I will speak for many.

This tournament is excellent as it is. HC of cause. No changes needed.

IMHO only muling rule should be soften, no one needs to mule off all that damn green rings and other stuff.

I’m waiting for third edition!

P.S.: Congratulations! I hope I will say the same someday, Gouda.
