There's no running from it!

I only refreshed because I had tried to post a reply to the SP thread, but it was just sitting there with half a bar for about 5 mins (didn't even time out). I half expected it to kill the thread, similiar to what sort of happened last time (posts not displaying on the main forum, etc).

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So I decide to come back to D2 after a couple month break.

Now, I look for my D2 install disk, cant find it. I do, however, have my LOD CD.

So I call up my buddy, get his install disk, and come home. So I install D2 classic. Switch between the install/play disk during install. Everythings fine.

Then I put in the LOD CD. Start the install. Switch between the D2 play disk and the LOD disk during install when it prompts me. At about 80% through, it asks for the LOD disk. I put it in, I hear the computer reading it, and it keep asking me to put in the disk and click "OK". I check my computer, it is reading the CD correctly.

Try to install LOD again, same problem.

So I just try and start up D2C. It is fully installed. The Icon is on the desktop, the program is on the hard drive. I put in the play disk. Get the window that says "Play Diablo 2." Click play. I get the "Please verify the CD is in your CD Rom and click retry.

My friends install disk has only a few very light on scratches, he takes very good care of his disks (the scratches may have even came from the CD player during install?).

My LOD disk has a lot of tiny scratches, and only two that seem a little bit deeper on the very outside.

I tryed wiping down the disks with a lightly damp paper towel and drying them.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Is it possible its a problem with using a same CD key on multiple computers?

no, the problem is likely your cd or drive.

Ahhhhhhhh, it's noon here and I am still utterly wasted from last night. Chugging a bottle of wine at 4am after being at the bars all night is not necessarily a good idea. Blargh. I need a nap. Also, it took way too long to spell everything right in this post.

I had the same problem yesterday morning. Had something here to tend to but I was so cross-eyed, it took me 20 minutes just to find the thread I was looking for (normally a 2 second job). I realized how absolutely tanked I was so I took a nap. I woke up an hour later and couldn't figure out if I had been here yet or if it had been a dream.

I'm glad I at least have the sense to never post under the influence - who knows what I'd say or do. My drunken ramblings would probably be worse than nnndave's.

I agree. Funnier drinking stories too.

EDIT: Well I should say story (singular) - but it was an instant classic.
