The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

No. Famine has no crushing blow, no plusses to smite damage, and the elemental damage won't carry over to smite.

Both ebotdz and famine are very nice for your zeal but not beneficial for smite.Ebotdz at least offers max smite speed and you won't have to repair it. Famine will need additional ias for that.
They can both work fine with this build but don't really expect them to shine in uber tristram, especially famine. Stormlash and astreon's are excellent uniques that are available nl,but if you absolutely have to have a high runeword, doom is a good choice, with that holy freeze aura and the 2 skills. Or use a beast which has crushing blow and fanatic aura and run salvation instead.

I'm short of a Lo rune otherwise I have everything else I want to make this build. :)

Even found a 5 soc phase blade while doing a keyrun at Nihlathak.

Wow this build cuts through the ubers like nothing. I didn't even notice a difference in killing speed between using salvation for meph and fanat. for diablo and baal. I'm wondering though whether the plus % damage to demons (for example on Grief and Seraph's hymn) work on the ubers.

So I need some equipment help....this is what I plan on using.

greif PB
guillames
dracul's grasp
gores
24 maras
Fort (30 res all)

So i figure minimum, that gives me a base of about 84% res all including anya quests.

first off, what should i socket in the helm? Um for resists?

I'm having problems deciding on what shield to use. Seems like the choices are either santcuary, exile, or HoZ. Here's my situation/views.

HoZ - I'll be lacking in +skills already, so it'd be nice, socket it with um it'd give me 72 res all total. I'd have to buy it.

Exile - First off, does the base shield really matter that much? besides defense, does the smite difference matter much? because right now i've got a 4os 43 res all sup royal shield. Now, the problem is, if i have to buy a new shield, i don't think i can afford it.

sanctuary - tons of resists, nice, increased chance to block. I figure minimum i'd get a 40 res all shield, and 50 roll on the runeword, so 90 res all.

So really, i guess my question is, are resists more important than the skills, extra defense, and other stuff that i could get from other shields besides sanctuary?

Resist is a top priority, unless you have t-gods, wisp, drawf, and other absorb gear. Anyone who does not have close to max resist or massive absorb will get creamed by meph, sometimes even if life tap is on. (other times they got cream before life tap is triggered)

I have seen a few examples myself.

Currently my build is

wep: grief pb
armor: dusk fort
shield: Exile sacred targe 37 res
helmet:Guillame's face
boots: gore riders
gaunts: draculs
belt: crend/verdungos (usually crend for resists)
ammy: highlords (I really can't afford a maras right now..)
rings: rare 4%ml/ll 13 cold res, raven frost

I am severely lacking in resists (34 fr, 44 cr, 80 lr, and 44 pr)
I don't know what I should do... I'm trying to trade away my exile and get myself a sanctuary instead and maybe some change left over but I still don't have enough to buy a maras or metalgrid. I don't know what I should choose for my ammy :s

I also have access to a tgods and dwarf star but is raven frost / dwarf star / tgods sufficient absorbs to stand against the ubers?

I realized 1 thing after doing a run today. It might be useful information.

Make sure everyone in trist is melee, or you better not have meph's minions around you. Meph decided to chase a caster when I was helping someone today, and got away from my smite range. The resule wasn't pretty.

I guess you are right, I took part in a t-run few days ago and there was a fb sorc teleing around to escape undead mages missiles. While she was teleing Meph summoned more and more mages...and he (it?) too began to chase the sorc. Luckily she died with a charged bolt attack and we suggested her to wait for the others to clean house (Frenzy barb, Zealot/Smiter, Tesladin). I don't know if there currently is a caster class able to solo tristram...

I have noticed this: When I'm smiting the bosses, sometimes they will go chase another char which is usually a caster....Perhaps their AI tells them to do so. When I'm zealing them though this almost never occurs, they will just keep busy with me.

okay so i guess i would have to um the gul helm... :P

as for rings, i would use one raven, and maybe a wisp on the other hand... or is dwarf better? (will be using tgods)... and metalgrid if i can get one...XD

as for shield... i really dont know if i should forget about the exile and use sanctuary.. I guess i should get a pally with conviction to test out my resists

I do not think dwarf is really necessary. I would go wisp, for the light sorb. Fire damage seems not to be the killer, at least for me, and I do not even have full fire res. On the other hand I hate the foh ctc on tgod, it sends you in cast delay and I died sometimes because of that. Sanctuary is a good option. Res overstacking is good for meph, though useless for D and B.

I'm having trouble seeing where all the resists on this build come from. As I understand it, Conviction + Hell difficulty would require between 275 and 300 resist all. As I understand the gear selection, you would get (at maximum) 115 from a perfect Sanctuary, 35 from Metalgrid, 30 from Fortitude, 15 from an Um in the helm, and 15-20 absorb from the belt/rings. That's 210-215, and it's even less if you use an Exile instead of Sanctuary. What am I missing?

Charms? (FYI, I didn't check your math)

You can also prebuff treachery.

Just killed ubers for the first time :] thx to guide :D (18/18 sorc torch ^_^)

I was using an exile for a while but my resists were really lacking so I sold it and bought myself an upped HoZ and I stuck an um in it... now res are 70/70/80/75 (I don't have a resist amulet ._.)
