The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

redeemer have the most damage "Damage +60-120" but what does it mean? +60 or +120 dmg .. very little. is this like smite dmg 600 and with redeemer will be 660?

The weapon spawns with +XXX damage, where XXX is a number between 60 and 120. For example, 1 particular redeemer can spawn with +85 damage.

Anyways, why it is so damaging is the fact that this damage is added to the BASE shield damage, just like holy shield and grief. It is then multiplied by the ED's on your armor, skills, etc., making it a very large number.

Grief has the biggest damage. When it comes to smite, check what Anime said. When it comes to zeal (or other skills except vengeance) things are simple. When you make a runeword or find a weapon you see among the other stats,a minimum and a maximum damage. A doom berserker axe will have e.g. 100 min and 350 max damage,a nord's tenderizer 147 min and 185max (roughly) etc. What matters is always the average damage, around 160 for nord's and 225 for doom. The astonishing thing about grief is that it adds 340-400 to both. So a simple phase blade that deals 31 min and 35 max,if it gets a +365 roll ,will have 396min damage and 400 max...398 average, ready to be multiplied by ed% from skills (zeal/fanaticism) and gear (fortitude, phoenix,ed% jewels).

I talk about "Astreon's Iron Ward", "The Redeemer" and "Stone Crusher". So if i find one redeemer maxed One-Hand Damage: 160 To 208 (184 Avg) and he have Damage +120 i will get 280(160+120) To 328(208+120) (304 Avg)(184+120)?

Yes it will. Redeemer is one of those underdogs that never got the attention they deserved.Shael in it,highlord's amulet, nosferatu belt and 15% ias somewhere is enough to hit max zeal/smite damage with that little scepter, and keep your dracul's on. And it is cheap as sausage,as they say in Finland :)

Still astreon's is superior.

Hi. I was hoping someone could take a look at my gear setup and make any comments/suggestions. I haven't really started the leveling process yet, so I figured I'd just make sure I'm on the right track.

Grief PB
Dracs
Guillaumes (um)
Coh Ap
Gores
23% Maras
Rfrost
80ar/17str/14dex/22 cold res ring
Hoz (um)
T-God's

I plan on filling my inventory with res and life charms. I was wondering whether or not the Maras and rare ring were good choices. Also, is it worth getting an eth exile with resists or will I have enough lifetap to survive easy enough? Last question, when tackling Meph should I use sanctuary instead of fana or try to stack my resists with many charms?

Thanks in advance. Great guide by the way.

You mean salvation. I use scant against Baal myself since I am too lazy to drink mana pots (but that's beside the point). Salvation would work since you don't absolutely need fanatism, especially if you have grief. I use to have a 1 point smiter without grief and it worked just fine. If it is for general PvMing, Highlord's will be better, but mara is not a bad choice for trist itself. Pre-buff with treachery. Just make sure that after meph's -125, you have 75% resist (at least to lightning to cold, preferably all 3 elements that it reduces).

Yes. Tested it on ancients and 1 of the lesser ubers (more like doing other people favours). It works, almost too well. Going to rebuild him so to get rid of the extra str and get more dex.

33/389 PB. I am wondering should I get rid of the Upped HoZ and get an un-Upped one, or should I just save myself some time and not troll the trade forum since a few stat points is not going to matter much

Yes, I know with grief that leech is enough with a buckler. However, the HoZ I got is already upped, and I am wondering whether I should get a non-upped one instead (which might not be too easy). I am mostly looking at convinence issues rather than optimal stat point issues.

Personally, I am thinking about not bother trading.

I don't know uswest trade habbits. I would personanlly try to benefit by acquiring a non up hoz and get some "change". Really nice damage on your grief.

It's ladder, so a non-upped HoZ might cost at least as much as an upped one. In particular, mine is low ED so it might be hard to sell.

I agree the damage is nice. I got a lucky roll, I guess.

My hat's off to Kingsdryland for this build. It has got to be one of the most effective builds I've ever used. I have mixed a few of the different pieces of equipment just for the sake of availability. I pretty much just use the 1 pt smiter on the ubers themselves, i use my hammerdin to clear the path to them. The only reason for that is there is way too much Iron Maiden on the way to them. (absolute killer to all mele) With the setup I have below, none of the Ubers last more than 15 seconds, not even Meph....

By the way, my smiter is only lvl 83.

Gear:
Guillaume's Face / HOZ(p-diamond) / +3 heavens light(2xshael) / Gores / Drac's / T-gods / 971def CoH / BK / ravenfrost / 6-1-3 CTA + lidless on switch
Inventory:
2 Combat, 2 Off Aura GSC / anni

Base stats: 117str 92 dex 183 vit 15 energy
Gear stats: 227 136 248 40
(I still have 88 points saved to distribute!)
Resists with gear: 75/75/85/75

I keep a few full rejuvs in the belt for Meph, he's the only one I need them for. I've gotten 3 torches with him already and hope to get alot more.
This was just an outstanding build.
Thanks Kingsdryland!

Thx for your kind words Pinto. I'm glad that you have come with a setup of your own. That's the point of this guide,to help people understanding how things work so they can judge by themselves, and not offer them a strict "Bible" to follow.

I'll throw my $0.02 in here. I just read this whole thread even though I built my 1 pt. smiter a few weeks ago. I didn't know there was a such a nicely written guide for them. Yes, this build is crazy effective at PvP, PvM, and Uber Running, throw in a Nature's Peace and it's a great Key Runner as well. Anyway, here's my guy:

Max Fana
Max Zeal
Max Sacrifice
Max Holy Shield
Pumping blessed aim now for PvP

Uber-huntin' kit:
Death PB / LT wand I throw this curse on before I jump in)
Um'd Hoz
Gore's
Perf Kira's (15ias, 7 min dmg jewel, it's off my zon)
Credendum
Fort Dusk
Highlord's
Ravenfrost
Dwarf Star
Drac's (15 str)

'Zon torch (for stats and res.)
19/17/10 Anni
AR/Max/fhr/life/res charms

I got maxed res all (80 light) with my Kira's/Um'd HoZ/Fort combo while convicted by Meph ( No salvation needed, so I can still run my Fana.)
Cold and Fire Absorb
95% Deadly Strike \__________omg it's so sweet at 4 fps.
85% Crushing Blow/
I got about 1200 life b4 BO (I usually end up with 4k plus, but that's b/c my friend has a godly singer Barb. I think his bow is lvl 49, not sure. It's a good friend to have, anyway:wink: .)
I got about 18k Def.
I got about 8k AR

I usually smite the uber and switch on zeal for a sec if I get swamped. I find the monster deadly strike helps with PB's relatively low damage once CB has run it's course. I like this build a lot.

Future plans:

-Switch out my zon torch for pally.

-Switch out Dwarf Star for Wisp

-Switch Kira's for Um'd Shako (I have the shako and the um, but no socket quest. I may leave the Kira's though, if I can't maintain my max res. in meph's face without salvation. Mainly because I don't have it:shocked: )

-Switch Credendum for T-Gods (Tri absorb with RF, and Dstar:afro:)

He's lvl 83 now. I'm taking him on his first solo run tonight.

I'm following this guide, but now that I have a few different options for equipment, I'm gonna try tweaking the build a bit once I get to the higher levels. Nicely done though. Very clear and to the point.

A few questions:

For general PvM, what does a smiter do about PI's in Hell, and is there a good strategy for dealing with the IM curse (other than wait it out)?

Also, there's no passive bonus from Defiance, is there? I think the bonus from Holy Shield should be enough for me. Regardless, I'm thinking of passing on all the defensive Auras except salvation.

Great guide. This is a super, cheap, versatile build. I regard it as the best build in 1.11.

I'm surprised you regard Guillaume's, Gores and Dracul's as "poor man's gear". Guillaume's is the cheapest of the three, but on USWest Gore's costs Lem-Ist+ and Dracul's goes for PulLem-HR+ depending on the mods. This is hardly cheap gear, certainly not in the class of the HR dupewords, but expensive enough, even for a regular player. After several months play I still don't have Dracul's, they won't drop and I don't have the runes to trade - I've only managed to cube and trade up to 2 Lem's and a Fal. I regard a poor item as one that anyone can easily get ahold of. What's your definition?
