Back when I was a kid, dad went to this fairly far-out church (I tend to refer to it as 'one step away from handling snakes'). One Sunday Ian Gillan (the guy who played Jesus in Superstar on Broadway or whatever) came and told us that all the singers were on drugs and committing adultery and whatnot, and he cried and told us all about the devil and how we were all going to hell unless we repented and gave a bunch of money to the church and all this. And he told us that Superstar was an homage to satan and the boogey-man.
So as soon as I got out from under all that, I went out and bought a copy of Superstar on vinyl. And every Easter (and often on Christmas, even though it makes no sense) I rock Superstar at full volume and dance about and generally worship the ability to sing and dance. Good times.
Later, it was revealed to me that many (non-crazy, miles-away-from-snake-handling) Christians viewed the Superstar in a different light: far from being an homage to satan, as Mr. Gillan claimed, some people actually find the Opera contains a celebration of Christ and faith. Interesting.
