the trick is to keep your valk in front of the fat guy and let your merc stay out of harms way...if your valk gets knocked back he will immediately swing around to eat your merc...you can then cast a decoy behind him and he will swing back around...the merc could only take 2 hits...i used up 3 full juves in the fight.

made it as far as kurast...the marsh was full of gloams...the swampy pit and the flayer dungeon were both full of gloams AND undead soul killers...i almost got hosed by a blessed pack of soul killers...i thought i had some room to back up but a blessed pack of gloams cut off my escape...i couldn't even take a step...i had 6 full juves with me and used them all...my merc and valk were right in the middle of the dolls gleafully popping them...i was being hit by so much light that it took awhile to recast my valk out of the middle of the pack to a point directly behind the gloams...i got lucky and was finally able to recast my decoy a few feet behind the dolls...that gave me some room to run past...i caught a nasty explosion just as i made it by them...stupid merc! when they were all dead and i tp'ed back to town i had no potions left and only 14 life(not even enough to show a sliver of red in the bulb).

i thought about getting a screenshot but if i took my eyes off my red bulb for even a second i would have deeded.

i found two uniques...a pair of gorefoot(or should that be gorefeet?) and a stormstrike...i will probably start looking for a hat and armour for the merc with some holes for ptopazes...i might get lucky and find some endgame gear....if he has problems surviving with mf gear on i may just swap it out for boss kills....the muling restriction is starting to get me down...i found a 3/20/10 small charm that i had to leave on the ground.


edit...i saved the jewel and my merc is using the armour that dropped, nerve boy.

... Having to leave that charm sucks though. Glad that the jewel was worth keeping, though. 😁
