Grats D2 for the win!

round D2 Votes Starcraft Votes Counterstrike Votes
3 10077 9758 2709
2 10249 8952 7703
1 10584 7823 6654

in r3 d2 sees its steady decline of votes (voter apathy?) continue, starcrafts steady increase also continues, counterstrike sees a massive drop in votes, d2 has vote ssteadly dropping (this could a be a prob in next round as opponants are all around the same lev as d2 for voter numbers), starcraft increased again by 1000ish votes (poss supporters of defeated opponants switching allegance given similar games have been facing off a lot)

the only suspicious thing in this voting is counterstrikes low score, evne if they had continued to increae as they had in previous round they would have still bene third but it woudl at elast have been a respectable third

on a side note can someone pm me some isntructiojns on how tomdo a talbe given added spaces to create columns seme to get removed 9im sure theres a reason for making sure my columns wont line up but cant quite think of one)

3.There are many Diablo players(and anyone who has heard about this) right now thinking... PEOPLE STILL PLAY STARCRAFT?!?!?!

Im gonna start a big *** mess with this but oh well. People still play sc cause its more balanced, in the PvP sense. Im honestly tired of builds like the hammerdin and bone cannon necros that dont take much more skill then jamming on the mouse button. Dont get me started with the 10k+ damage chargedins, either.

People play sc because the races are balanced rather godly-like. The only strike sc honestly has going for it is that maphack can totally ruin it.

Since you pointed that out, i wanted to be the first to add that D2 s*ck in competition matter and that it will never get nowhere outside of B.net where its full of scrubs and botters... and SC is a nice game with some people all over the world competing in events to win some $$$$ at LANS ( more koreans than anything else but o well).

Well Broodwar is WAY more popular than TFT. At ANY GIVEN TIME there are far more BW players logged onto B.Net than WC3/TFT players.

Also seeing how the progamer BW scene in Korea is MUCH larger than the WC3 progaming scene ( Televised games, tours, massive cash etc )

This is a reference to the "People still play BW?". WC3/TFT will die before BW does... That proves how awesome a job Blizzard did with BW.

My StarCraft honor has been besmerched! I shall meet you on the field of battle where your fire sorcerecess shall meet the armies of Aiur in mortal combat to the death! We shall see who is the greater Blizzard video game! All your base are belong to us! Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Sorry, I had to do it ^^;; Here's the way I look at it:

StarCraft: most UMS games now are just plain ********. The few legit players have moved on to WC3 For the most part, and for most people the game has really lost its appeal (It's what, 6 years old now?)

Counter-Strike: There are much better FPS games out there, and 1.6 kind of pooched the whole game IMO.

D2: Game has been evolving and changing up until a few months ago with the 1.10 patch, new items, ladder characters, all of this is free.

So to me it's pretty clear that D2 should be the winner. It's probably the freshest of the 3 games, and one that people still enjoy. I mean, if it weren't fun, we all wouldn't still be here, right?

UMS? Haha? The few legit players moved to WC3?

Here's the deal. We have, at WGT over 100.000 members, a working, non-abusing ladder and an array of VERY competent admins who detects map hacking without any problem.

Brood War is MORE POPULAR THAN WC3/TFT! There are, at any given time, more BW users logged onto B.Net than WC3.

The PROFESSIONAL GAMING scene, aka progaming is extreme in BW, WC3 ain't coming close to it. In Korea it's even more extreme. Televised battles, several hundred thousand dollar cash tours, sponsored teams by such as Samsung etc. In WC3 you have just a TINY part of it. In Korea WC3 progaming is not close to BW...

So, you have NO idea of what you talk about :P

Still laughing to you bring up only the "UMS" aspect... Hrrhrr...

I don't really see this as being a concern for Diablo2. Remember, people could only vote once and in the last battle, had to choose between two fine games from Blizzard. You cannot just look at the D2 numbers and assume that everyone who voted D2 will vote D2 in the next round. Similarly, there might be other people who did not vote for D2 but are now doing so for the first time - maybe they didn't hear about this title match before then.

Next round, D2 goes up against Zelda - a console game. Hmmm . . . a PC game played over the Internet up against a stay-at-home, static console game? Wonder who's gonna win.

Figures if it's true

First, I would admit that I would have voted for d2 given that I never played sc enough to form an opinion of that game. I do think it kinda funny/sad if d2 did win by vote bot, as it would epitomize my whole experience with that game. I stopped playing it when the dupes/hacks were so prevalent. When Blizzard "fixed" it with 1.10 I already could care less. Also, the community as a whole had no respect for the game anymore. Seemed like if you could do it and get away with it, then you should....right? Maybe it's just a reflection of attitudes in the world these days. Ahhh don't get me started.

If it's proven that cheating took place I think it's a good reason to get mad. To say it's just a game and it's just a poll is a cop out because 99% of the things people get excited about these days aren't worth the time/energy wasted on them.

That's all the time I'll waste as well.

I didn't vote either way on D2 or Starcraft...I love them equally, both great games (Blizzards best 2). Unfortunately, after D2 beats Zelda it will have to contend with Half-Life (which will beat Halo), and that is where D2 will finally fall by a close margin. Reasoning is, I think Half-life will bring quite a few D2 fans over to its cause (like myself who has played both games), much more likely to happen then the reverse. Still it will be a close vote.

In the other section I see Doom decimating Mario Cart, SMB3 winning in a close vote over Civ 3, then Doom beating SMB3 in a very close vote.

Doom and Half-Life in the finals....geez I don't know who will win that or even who I would pick, love them both.

Well, that's how I see it playing out.

Of the games that lost out, I voted for Baldur's Gate 2, 2nd best game I've ever played behind Doom 2.

Some of the best games ever weren't even in there, like Planescape:Torment, Sacrifice, and Heroes of Might & Magic 2 or 3 (either one), but then again they are high quality games that didn't get the sales they deserved. The original Tomb Raider was tons better than Quake 2 IMO also, but then again Quake 2 had better replayability because of MP. TR single player was much much better than Quake 2 though.

Try again! Without another Blizzard rep. Diablo2 will bring over Many SC fans to its cause. Except mabye those stupid Zerg, but, what good can you say about insectoids spawned in slime pools! Well, then again, at least there not French!

D2 main reason to play is not PvP! It is a interesting sidetrack but the only people who play D2 for PvP are those that can't make it in real skill Pvps like Quake and Unreal.

I don't know why it is so hard to understand that!

Perhaps because it's a ridiculous claim =) You're being sarcastic, right? Please tell me you are =)
