Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes

Dacar - Salvation the Redguard Bard has done all the quests for the Mages and Fighter's Guilds, and is now working on the Blades quests. I hope that items don't disappear when you save and exit the game, otherwise I'll not have a way to get more money. The Caldera mines offered me loads of cash--but I can't go into their Mage Guild for a while. One of theirs stole an axe and his clothes from a barbarian, and when I went in to help him find her, she got cocky with us. Well, the barb took offense...and kept beating her down. She wasn't dying, though, so after about two minutes of watching combat, I finally had to hack her down just to END the darn thing! I still have no bounty on my head, though, so I must be doing all right. I have an Imperial Battlemage (named Draco, though I accidentally made "him" female--must've been imprisoned with a temperamental mage), but she's still stuck in the egg mines. My other character is a doomed Khajit. I'll probably make another character at some point and save over that one, since I don't think you can delete save files. If you can, I've no idea how.

Barkeep, I'll take a water, then go hide in a dark corner of the bar. I think I might have unwittingly started a bit of a campfire. I honestly hope it comes to nothing, but I'll be keeping my eye on things. ^_^;;

*Pokes his head into the doorway* Man, that is one funky smell.
*Walks the rest of the way in, sits down at the bar.* Ah, alcohol. Where are all those people who said they'd get me a drink...? *looks around* I don't know the faces yet to call them on their drinks. Clever trick. Oh well.
Barkeep, Gimme a bottle of Bacardi and a shot glass. I'll take care of the rest.
Um. Please.

*Walks casually up the the bar*
Barkeep get me a coke, I could use one right about now.

On top of that I have some homework due 1st thing tomorrow and I'm my sick absent-minded tired state right now left it at school. Yay getting up early to do work at school.

Welcome Slowpoke! Hope you stay awhile!

MW is different tham D2 but a little bit the same. You play from an isometric view, but you can also play from the 1st person. You can play a fighter class or mage, or something similar to an amazon, plus a few others. You do quests, just like D2. You build skills in quite the same kind of way. But it differs in how you level and how you do the quests.

It is a wide open world. And just about all of it is open to you from the very beginning. You can follow the main quests. There are so many quests in the main line, Probably close to 100 would be my guess. Or you can just walk through the world and do side quests (off the main ones). There are probably another 100 or so side quests. Plus there are two expansion packs. The world is huge. It takes a week of gaming to get from one side of the world to the other, if you stop off at caves and kill the inhabitants and loot their stuff. The incidental music in the game is great!

You can do the quests, or not do them. It doesn't matter. You can join different guilds. They offer you protection and weapons, armor, etc... You can save items or sell them. The game saves all of your stuff. You can move into a house and keep items and money in there and you can have a house in another city and keep items and money there. You don't have to mule stuff out of the game. But I am pretty sure you can't trade stuff either.

If you choose to be a criminal you may get a price on your head. The guilds can, for a price, clear that price for you. Or you can go to jail.

There is a version available with the main game and one of the expansions for US$30, I believe. It has been out for a couple of years.

It is fun! But D2 is still my favorite game.

Sorry about the long discertation, but after a few drinks at the EMB, I get talkative.

*stumbles home to search the maggot lair in hell*

Edit: I am trying to find the actual number of quests in the game. I am pretty sure I exaggerated, above, but not by too much!

Morrowind is an FPS (where the "S" is more likely to stand for Swordsman than Shooter) that is kind of similar to Diablo. It's not all a clickfest, it's pretty big (Act II has NOTHING on Vvarfendell) It's a single-player only game (to my current understanding), and you don't have any required quests (save for those you may want to complete, if you want to advance in your guild of choice). There's one main quest, and then there's THOUSANDS (I'm not kidding!) of little side-quests you can do, and they're hardly ever the same thing.

In essence:

Diablo + More RPG Elements + FPS mode - (Multiplayer and carpal tunnel) + 3D Graphics = Morrowind.

Paint a confusing picture? Doesn't suprise me. You can google for The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (don't want to break any rules by linking where it may not be allowed), as that's technically the actual title.

*grabs complacentlyspontaneous's tab* Barkeep, his first one's on me. My apologies for my lateness.

Bull: Good luck, both in the work department and the play department. Hardcore is no easy gig (even for Skelemancers, despite their still-great leap in ease over other classes).

Well, I'm going to go back to my corner, now...

Looks like you beat me to it, Shalak. Doesn't matter, he can have one on me too.

I heard a rumour that KP got Darken Rahl to Patriarch, and was going to do a little song in here about that, so I thought I had better hang around and have a drink or two. :drink:

OK, so I started that rumour. I still think it's a good one.

Hmm... I haven't been in here for a while...

*sits down at bar*

I'll have a beer thanks barkeep... :drink: ahhh...

better get one for complacentlyspontaneous too... sorry dude missed your intro but I'll still buy you one :buddies:

Man, RL's taking up a lot of time, not much left for LoD and SPF (them's the breaks). Still I have managed to get my HC Fishy to clvl 62 so not doing too badly there (Act III NM).

I'll have another beer thanks barkeep... :drink: Friday afternoon here in ECA (east coast Australia) time to knock off work and hit the pub

@Mage11 I reckon we could do with some music in here

*Crudesash opens the door, shuts it quickly to not let any cold air in*

*Strides up to the bar and orders an MGD, on tap*

*Goes over to the jukebox, and selects "Disposable Heroes"*

*Entire bar goes berserk in wild flailings and gyrations as the heart-pounding, thunderous chords echo through the room.*

*Swallows beer in a quick gulp, smiles at the unleashed chaos...*

Not bad for my first time in, eh?

I am listening to my music library and that song came on, hence the inspiration for the post.

"tosses a breast plate on the counter; asks the barkeep to "pass out drinks till that runs out"

::::saunters in and has a Dr. Pepper in memory of Queen Julianna::::

didn't really hit the news here in SoCal. my search of the AP wire brought up an article from the Canadian press. Not doing a great job of making America look all that good to my Swedish fiancée :teeth:

Anyway...
yesterday, may highest lvl purely 1.10 character, an MA assasin and my partner's strafezon defeated nightmare Meph and today, my Cleric Paladin 'Doc' defeated normal Duriel solo at players 8. god was that dull. Just whacked away slow with his scepter doing miniscule damage with sacrifice while his 19% LL kept him alive for the 3 minutes it took to whittle the slug down. MP games only for act 3 which, now that I can host, may come more often.

I suppose I should be in bed since i need to be up in 5 hours to head up to Hollyweird for a meeting with a producer about an AD position on a film. wish me luck.

Thanks to all people commemorating a person they never knew. And thanks for not flaming me for posting such a personal stint of rambling.

HBeachBabe, you have *lot* of people rooting for you now...

D2 wise not much happened lately. Katana levelled to 69 on the Foothills, that about covers it.

Had my first Sacred death. (Demo). Ran into some underground sorcerer's lair, and died to non-understood causes. I'll need to read up on this game's dynamics.

*Enters EMB*

*Heyy, this place looks like a bar, man!*

*WHE KNOW*

"Can I order?*

*YOU COULD TRY*

*Eeehhh, how about a decent whisky?*

*WE OFFER A DESCENT WHISKEY- TO GO....*

*That sounds OK!*

*AAAaaaaggghhh....*

Sorry 'bout that..... :stoned:

Agh!! When did I agree to that?!! *tries to remember what he did last night...*

Umm... I'm about to get off work, and then I have a house to clean and several courses of food to cook (I'm hosting a dinner party tomorrow night), so... I'll give you a raincheck on that song. I'll be back, though. OH YES, I'll be back...

*tries to disappear in a puff of smoke, but the smoke bomb goes off in his hand and he runs out the door gagging*

Bartender, I need a beer!

Thanks Shalakshmiyin and Dacar92. I will keep that one in mind for when I get tired of D2. Could be a while though.

Good luck HBeachBabe with the meeting! Have a drink on me when you get back to the EMB :drink: Heck, have two drinks! :drink:

*notices the bartender bringing him THREE more drinks* 'Was' shish?'
'One from the lovely lady with the large ears, one from the guy that looks like a dragon, and one from the scary looking guy with the big grin.'

'All shortsh, I shupposhe. Well, off to the Tamoe Highlandsh with me!'

*stumbles out drunkenly, using other patrons and support beams for balance, gets to the door, and falls on his face on his step down. Is seen walking away several hours later.*

More drinks, eh? It's alright, I'll borrow a kidney from a skeletal mage. Wait... meh.

Blast it!

Still not used to Daylight saving time, despite having a week of the thing.
Hope that improves over the coming week.

Katana is lvl. 70 now. Don't know where to put the 17 remaining stat points.

Sacred demo is really good, I need to get the full version.

One last "Hefe Weisse" and I'm down for a nap.

*Sees K_P gagging and stumbling out of the EMB*

*shakes head*

Gimme a paralyzer barkeep! I'm not going to fail Spanish this year. :drink:

:drink:
