Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes

No offense to the rest of you, but I really need to get this off my chest:

It's astounding how the people on this forum can constantly argue about a subject that will simply never amount to anything.

On topic: Visited my brother today. Since January, we've had so much snow that I couldn't even find his tombstone. The Han Solo Riding a Tauntaun that I left on Christmas is still there. :) (Yes, I leave a Star Wars-themed toy at his grave every Christmas.)

Zombies is a tile-set board game where the objective is either to escape town via the randomly located helipad(You don't know where it is for ages so it's just random wanderin) or just rack up 25 zombie kills. it's a vindictive style of game with cards you can play to help yourself or stuff up others. it's a lot of fun.

@swiller: good to hear nobody has touched it. we once caught someone pinching flowers off my pop's grave on his birthday.

also your little rant. provide examples or it didn't happen

I don't want to be a [expletive deleted], and I don't want to play devil's advocate, but if not in the off-topic internet forum of a niche community dedicated to an ancient RPG, then where? I come here (both the EMB and the SPF in general) to talk about games and spam. Generally, if I want to talk about serious issues, I will post on dedicated message boards. There are threads here dedicated to politics, the happenings in Japan as well as personal loss and grief, and it is nice to share opinions, feelings and virtual hugs with a community as close as this one.

As the Biggest Spammer (which I was recently informed is an unpaid position) I feel some need to offer some defence. Maybe because your post came after Pijus' post about video games and sandwiches it sounds even harsher than you intended, I'm not sure. I'd like to see the number of the first post in the EMB that was about a serious matter.

On a side note, I chose not say anything about the discussion of the terrible loss and grief that occurred recently in the EMB. It made me awkward and I felt I didn't know what to say, having never been in a situation remotely like that, but everyone involved had my unspoken condolences the second I finished reading the posts in question.

I hope my comments are taken as intended, but if they do provoke discussion, then that is good as well.

Star Wars toys on a grave is an awesome, heartwarming idea! :) I love it.

Sometimes people argue just to argue. Nothing wrong with that, per se.

I hate things like that! I'm not a sentimental man by any means, but I have a strange reverence for the dead. And that sort of thing is never, never okay.

You, sir, are an extremly perceptive man. I almost wrote something like that, (but something harsher, along the lines of, "you people really like to talk, huh?") but chose to be a little more cautious. I don't even (sadly) play D2 anymore so the topic it is none of my concern.

But this is the OT thread! Let us not think of silly games; but of drinks and un-related issues!

Um...I'm sorry. I think you misunderstood what I intended. I was commenting on a D2-related thread. I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that, or about which thread. I'm struggling (but admittedly failing) to keep this non D2, okay? Perhaps it should not have been brought up at all.

Here comes a really off topic... I live very much in the country side and just now 3 large Red Kites (big birds, called Glada in Swedish) were having a fight outside our house. They were flying around and attacking each other in mid air, screaming like... well, angry birds I suppose. Very impressive. They are huge! And beautiful colors

Are you sure it wasn't just on your phone? That sounds awfully familiar!

It also reminds me of some birds that were fighting a few years back in my front yard: (it's a bit graphic, so don't read if you love animals too much)
There was a small sized bird and a big one, I think a robin and a Finch size one. The Robin kept knocking the little one out of the air when it tried to fly away, it finally pinned it down, tore it's head off and ate it! I stood there with mouth wide open for a minuet, I couldn't believe that it had just happened, it was really sad! after that the big bird just left.

I know what you mean about that OT thread swiller! I read and posted on the first two pages, but decided it wasn't worth dealing with after that, I had a good feeling that it would end up being a huge discussion! I'd much rather play the game than read that thread for the next 3 hours!

lols at kestegs big bird is a finch. saw an eagle attempt to take a lamb one day. luckily we were close enough to chase it

Well, I never meant it was an actual big bird, but that it was big compared to the other. I have seen an eagle a few miles out from my house, but I can't imagine one trying to take a sheep!

Psh, corax's Aussie eagles are like little parakeets. My 4th grade class took a field trip to Grandfather Mountain, and as part of it we toured the wildlife refuge thing on the mountain. Grandfather has one of the largest populations of bald eagles this side of the Rockies, and they were feeding some of them when we were there. Holy. Crap. I wouldn't want to piss one of those things off.

@nooby: I know what you mean. I made a post on the first page of that one, I think, and then checked for any responses or anything for a while, but now I know it's a lost cause. When the quoted sections being replied to are larger than the posts on the first few pages, you know it is time to bail.

So I did something really cool yesterday. Try to guess what!
*takes Dew*

No, I didn't eat a pineapple. And I guess I didn't tell you guys about the meeting. But the thing I did was so exciting! Ok, I will make two (2!) Walls of Text™, one for the meeting and one for last night's adventure. I apologize in advance.

So, the Meeting. She suggested we have dinner and insisted I choose a place, so I went with some restaurant I went to once years ago and that I pass every day, mostly because we both knew how to get there. I was tempted to go my regular place, but word would get around there and I can't have that. I arrived late, and I was close to throwing up most of the drive over. Ozzy screaming at me helped. She didn't really notice me walking up, and I was really tempted to run, but I went in anyway. There were greetings exchanged, awkward small talk, and a table picked in the back where we could talk.
We just talked until they started shuffling us out to close. I told her what had been happening with me and the rest of the family the last few years, we reminisced a bit, we discussed how she reads my FaceBook and I hacked someone to read hers. It was at least half an hour before I could make eye contact. I ate very little, it felt like I was going to vomit any moment and I didn't want there to be much ammunition. After they ran us out we just hung around the car and talked. That was when things got really serious. We talked about what caused the estrangement, what we each felt about it, what she had done during over the years, and generally the kind of things you don't want a waitress to overhear. We also watched a domestic dispute unfold in the parking lot, seemingly between a mother and daughter, which I thought was perfectly appropriate. But mostly we just talked about stuff, whatever came to mind, and got acquainted with each other again. It was so surreal, here is somebody I've known almost my whole life and we have to introduce ourselves like strangers. I'm so glad it worked out, though.

WoT #2: (Yesterday)
So I got a call yesterday morning as I was watching Milan-San Remo. It was my parents down in Florida, they said they had been paying bill and noticed that because of some abnormality in the payment schedule coinciding with a bonus we had enough money to buy a decent used car. They said they had already scoped out some, but they were all either crap or sold when they got there. They said they'd call back. 45 minutes later, another call. They had found one in Charlotte, about 1 1/2 hours south of here, and it was the right price and stuff. The pictures were only of the outside, so I had to go down there and decide if I wanted to buy it or not. I finished watching the race and went to the store. When I got back, I got another call. They were sending me details and I should check my email in a while. I took a nap. Upon waking up at around 2 (take note of these times), I checked my email and it wasn't there. I figured they were out doing something, so I watched Muppets From Space and called them at 4:00 wondering why they hadn't sent that email. They promptly responded by panicking slightly, but whatever. A plan was hatched in which I would leave to get the older younger one with the younger younger one in tow, then leave from there straight to Charlotte, so I would get there before 7:00 and I'd have plenty of time to look at the car. All I had to do was stop by Harris Teeter and receive the money from the Western Union thing there.
Yeah, that didn't work. My neighborhood location, the one where I average literally 8 visits a week, couldn't do it. They wanted to, but there just wasn't enough money in the registers to cover the whole sum, or they totally would have given me all of it. So they gave me $500 and two checks and sent me to a different location. That location could only give $450, but that was still something, and left me with only one check. For $1000 dollars. Apparently, that was a bad thing, because the next two locations I went to could not cash a check that large. I had to go to the big flagship store, where what I am sure was a mix of my desperation and their pity convinced the employees to cash it, but only after calls to the manager, the original store, the president, the CIA, and the leaders of three world religions. So now I had the money. But it was 6:30. So back in the car, get the one brother, then haul *** to Charlotte. It was dark when I got there, but I inspected the car, took it for a brief drive, and paid the man. Then we got to drive around Charlotte for a while, finally find our way out, eat a very late supper at an exit, and boring night drive home. The car did very well, and I went to sleep a tired but happy guy. And I even got to keep $100.

tl;dr: Pancake met his sister and didn't throw up. He also bought a car and had a frustrating adventure.

Dew please.

*dews the Pman *

Congrats on the car, and on what sounds like a good meeting with your sis!

What kind of check cashing place doesn't carry $1000? I've never used one, but I would think that they would have way more than that!

I went to the aquarium yesterday, my daughter was super excited to see that they had real mermaids there. It was pretty impressive really, and pretty hot too.

Went out to brunch today and drank to much coffee, no dew for me today.

If you think mermaids are real and hot, you did drink too much, but it wasn't coffee.

EDIT: (I still can!)

Also, I hate 1.07. I really do. Amassed like 45 saphires so far. Going through NM. At /p5. Which actually mean 4 mules in the game... I think I'm gonna get to NM LK and just run sapphires there. If I manage to stick to it.

The Bald Eagle is a large bird, with a body length of 70–102 centimeters (28–40 in), a wingspan of between 1.68 m (66 in) and 2.44 m (96 in), and a mass of 2.5–7 kilograms (5.5–15 lb

The female Wedge-tailed Eagle is larger than the male, weighing between 3.2 and 5.3 kilograms (7.1 and 12 lb). Length varies between 81 and 104 centimetres (32 and 41 in) and the wingspan between 186 and 227 centimetres (73 and 89 in).

So our eagles are approximately the same size as yours.

GG jcakes stat reference. but let's face it australian wildlife > everywhere else.

russian wildlife is pretty epic. wolverine > most things. Although a tasmanian devil is like a tiny little super pissed wolverine. and i mean a normal wolverine is not normally a very happy chap.

The shaman i just stat'd up for the new shadowrun game has a totem animal that will be a wolverine, which means eventually i will look like a were-verine. Basically everytime i use magic i will mutate slightly until i look like my totem animal. was going to be a gator but the attributes don't really match a gator.
