I can't wait, I wish it was June already... Two weeks alone with soccer (and work I'd gather by that time again).
 
Go Sweden! We're qualified once again and I really think our team has a chance to go far if everything works perfect. Funny thing about England being in the same group (considering their coach).

Seriously though, the Olympic ice hockey tourney is almost as big as the soccer World Cup here. The only thing that differs is that there're only 7 teams which have a fair chance of winning the ice hockey (Sweden being on of them) while there're many, many countries which can win the soccer.

@Toppo :evil: I think Sweden has a good chance even if Finland keeps up the good work. Finland still stands as favorites though.
 
Just found the playing schedule. Very interesting first weekend.

@AM: Mexico plays on Sunday at 18.00 my time their first game. You should be able to see that live.
 
A quick look at the windows clock shows Amsterdam as GMT+1, and Mexico City as GMT -6, making a seven hour difference. So, when it's 18:00 in Amsterdam (and most of the Netherlands, I think.), it is 11:00 in Mexico City (and the rest of the place, I think). Oh, and it would be 01:00 the next day for me, and 03:00 for the east coasters, such as corax.

And the Australian team has will have Brasil guessing in their group game. As to whether they pound us, or mearly beat us by a reasonable margin.

I don't know where do you live ahcw, but at least here in America (except for the USA and Canada) soccer is the sport that is most followed and watched, we see every game and follow our favorite teams. World Cup Soccer is an exciting event, here in America more than Olympics sometimes

Anyway, drinks on me! I had a W O N D E R F U L weekend, so tequila for everyone (or serve yourselves with something else). Besides kefir, somethingsin is right, how does sweden won if it actuallyt lost with the score you posted!? :shocked:

I'll have a Coebergh AM and I'm glad you had a nice weekend. Write down July 5th in your calendar, that's the date of the final match of the World Cup and it starts at 21.00 (GMT +1, and the rest of the Netherlands).

But Finland was home team so I edited to:
"Finland vs Sweden 2 - 3."

Or so I thought...
 
Yeah I live in the USA and I never really got into soccer because of this. I am all about American football and basketball and what not. It's ok, I still love you guys and I wish your teams the best in the Cup.

AM - I got new respect for football (soccer) after watching your countrymen play against Colombia in some championship game in 2001. I was impressed, and now I actually like watching international soccer.

Yeah, people from the USA are all about their own sports (basket ball, american football, baseball and some hockey), but soccer is the sport which is most played all around the world, that's why it gots it's own world cup :wink3:

Anyway, kefir, from now on, only milk to you!

Edit: Thanks kaysaar, that was if I remember correctly, CONMEBOL championship (FIFA has regions for the world, CONMEBOL is the region for south america) which I got no idea why Mexico was invited, since the CONMEBOL does not likes us very much (Mexico belongs to CONCACAF, the region for north america, which includes USA and Canada), mexico almost won the championship, losing the final to Brazil in an impressive game. But we got our revenge a year later, by winning to them by 3-1 if I remember correctly, and then again last year, winning 2-1 so we got our ticket to the world cup :wink2:
