Great to hear how well you're doing in HC, Shalak. It can be a different style of play when you can't afford to die - quite challenging and quite fun.

Seven years is a long time, LW. Take a short break if you need it, but be sure to come back - this place wouldn't be the same without you (particularly if Butzull & Nightfish are going).

As for me, just a quiet Guinness, as I get myself ready for St Patrick's Day tomorrow. Unfortunately I've got too much on at work to really enjoy it, but it should still be a good day.

Shalak, all I can suggest for normal big D is run like hell and if you run out of skeles go somewhere else and raise some more. It's one hard fight though, I had to kill him from one-quarter life with a lvl3 bone spear because (like an idiot) I fought him on P8 and watched my skeles die in four seconds or so. Only took 75 minutes. Makes you feel you should get a much better drop from him when he dies.
 
Mage11: Thanks! :D It definitely *is* a challenge. I seem to be doing fairly well, though. I think Diablo's been my toughest boss to date. (I can't remember if I did or not, but I think I might've called in reinforcements for Duriel--my memory fails me, though, and when I checked in with him the first time, he was already in Act III. *shrugs* My respects to anyone who's helped me (and my apologies for my forgetfulness).

Seryant: Yes, yes, there was LOTS of running when facing Diablo. The MSN autologon mid-fight as I was flying to safety to restock, resurrect, and resupply didn't help much. Thankfully, my two skellies behind me took much of any incoming fire. Still, I'm quite upset at MSN. *growls at MSN* The character I'm not much looking forward to facing much of anybody with is my bowazon, Astalthion. Does Crushing Blow work with bows?

Getting back to the subject at hand...I beat him at p1 (I was WAY too paranoid to try much anything higher than that, as this is my first HC character to get much past Act 1), and the drops sucked. Could be worse, though. The fact that I walked away alive was good enough for me.

Well, I should probably take off to my quiet corner and polish off my pomegranate juice while my antivirus is running, so I can pass time before firing up Diablo again. I'd like to see how far I can take him reasonably.

The forums seem to be down quite a bit lately. I assume that is because the bar needed to be restocked with drinks.

Speaking of drinks, everyone have one on me! My sorc just beat the hell ancients. I had to reroll twice, the first time because one was both fire and cold immune, the second time because one was FE. No deaths though. In fact, no deaths in a while, even though gloams spawned in a couple of places. On to Baal tonight!

My MA bowazon, if you haven't read, is doing really good. I'm on hell myself, but only to the Dark Woods WP. I saw a few boss packs with tons of mods on them. Even a few with stone skin and PI. One was really bad... i can't remember exactly, but it was something like extra strong, stone skin, LE, FE, CI, FI, PI. I was really glad I was playing a ranged character. :)

Oh well, just give us whatever green alcohol you have, I'm not picky. I'll need it, I'm starting D2 again after a month or so of hiatus, so I'll be a bit rusty, and when I'm rusty I get angry. Damn anger managment classes, they make ME SO ANGRY!!!

No D2 yesterday, so will probably be playing today. Putting off my St. Patty's celebrations until Friday, when some friends and I are doing a bit of a St. Patty's/Spring celebration thing. It's an extra day of wait or so, but it's worth it.

*collects arrows from Seryant's leaves* Astalthion would like some of these--she collects handcrafted arrows. She says they do more damage.


Well, guess I'd better run. It's late, and my antivirus is on.

@ L_W-- wow. seven years is a long time. there's still hope, though. :) you are still a great member of the old guard, so make sure to come back from lurkage and keep us in line from time to time. :) still, a break is surely warranted. i clearly don't know you socially, but if you ever want some relaxed MPing, let me know via email--that could be fun. and that goes for everyone. relaxed MPing is nice. hope you all have pleasant green beer days.

As I was coming to it, my summoner druid is slowly creeping his way through normal. At the moment he is still using a bow for extra damage(from twinked elemental charms) so basically it's a hunter at the moment, but I'll be sure to slap a shield on him once I get a decent Grizzly/Merc going or find a good +skill weapon. Anyone sporting any extra Hoto flails? Thought so. Hopefully next time I post I have him in Act 3, but there's Civilization 3 spoiling my concentration. Must... resist... temptation...

*delurk* actualy its more then 7 years but i dont count the years i came here for info about diablo 1 builds.

im more or less enjoying my break as for now.

with break i mean i dont post as much as i done the last 3 years.

dont feel the need to reatch 5000+ again.

relaxing mp games would be fun, but right now i have some uni tests up ahead that i need to work on.

and even if i lurk im still here.

just enjoying the slower phase...

and the relative friendly atmosphere here a bit more.

still 7 years take its toll.

i think its time now for you newer members to take the lead and show the spf the way into the future.

thats why im going back to lurking. i dont mean much to this place but i can only try to with hold the legency of those that have inspired me over the years.

that might not mean something to the rest of you. as you never meet them but i feel that they spent way to much effort in making this a friendly place from the start for it to fade away.

i can only hope that you think the same.

have fun posting and to honor this day as its means something special to one of those that shaped this place during the years

This is where I have to disagree. If you did not mean much to these boards, then your presence would not be missed. (I can tell you this from personal experience. If you REALLY want the whole story, Message me sometime. I'll give you the whole story.) It is good to remember those who were here before, to aid and inspire you on your journey with the game and its communities. Regardless of whatever conflicts might be in your past, you mean a great deal more to this place than you think, and I dare any man, woman, or child to say otherwise.

I may be new to this forum, but I've already learned a lot about this game I haven't learned in the years I've played it since it came out.

I for one will miss you wisdom and insight lone_wolf!!

And that goes the same for all those that are leaving. I understand that RL is more important, but you all will be missed!!
 
Ah Lone_Wolf, how could you think you don't mean much to this forum. There's very few who are here that still remember the start of the SPF, and you're a big part of the reason why this place still carries on some of the great traditions of old.

Seven years is a very long time to spend, but there has obviously been something worthwhile here to keep you around.

Having said that, there is no shame in lurking. I'm not going to even try to figure out how many years I lurked here (and in some of the other forums here) before I posted my intro (& first & only) thread. It's good to have a quick glance at the names that say who is in the forum & see a familiar name, like yours, even if you're not posting so much.

So charge your glasses to our longest serving member, Lone_Wolf. :drink:

I'll have a xider with you any time here, loney.
 
Oh no wolfie! Please tell me I don't need to add a fourth name (Also in such short time!) to the newly formed SPF Tome of Legends!

And to top it off, I broke my finger in a football match (real football, with your feet). Blocked a wicked shot from about 4 feet, no time to move my hand. Ever try to play D2 with one hand? All I'm running is HC right now so playing = dead chars. Now all I've got is the forum and we're losing some solid citizens.

anyway i base the fact that i dont mean much to the forum on the legacy of those that many of you have never meet. so thats why i say i mean nothing. obviously i seems to mean something to you all atleast:thumbsup:

stormwolf i be sure to message you for the full story it will be intresting to hear..

and im by no chance leaving until elly and gaile kick me out or this place shuts down.

that said as long as im not hurting them i dont think they will hurt me.

and i need the time off as i have some serious tests ahead of me should be a bit better in a week or 2.

well i have to see how it works to run 2 courses at the same time...

but to say it short im not leaving just cuting down on posting.
