Congrats on Infinity, Clervis!

My setup is this:

Shako (I use 1.07 version, but normal one is almost as good)
Enigma
Mara's
HotO
Spirit Sacred Targe (mine is 35@ base, use a high res good block base if you can)
Trang Oul's gloves (Magefist works too)
Arachnid's Mesh
Hotspurs (another option could be Waterwalk's)
BKWB
10 FCR ++ ring (res, dex, life are nice adds)
Switch: CtA + Spirit
Inventory: PC skillers, res/life small charms, add maybe a Gheed's. I don't use it though

Mercenary is a lazy man's Insight A2 Combat merc with Gladiator's Bane and Gaze. There are another options too, for example some ppl play with Lawbringer A3/5 merc or equip their A2 mercs with Reaper's or Doom. I use Mediation sometimes but Insight is just too comfortable

Any tips? Hmm, 125 fcr is nice, max block for sure and stacked fire res is good versus Conviction. I think the only real threat in the CS for Hammerdin is a nasty De Seis pack (or a real bad unique combo). I have my finger on a rejuv hotkey every time I tele on De Seis. I kill all the boss packs in CS and RoF.

If you get serious about leveling, you can try to get a map with as much shrines as possible.

Thankyou so much! My hammerdin is still stuck at the beginning of NM. I made him in 1.12 and haven't brought him to 1.13 yet. I don't even have Enigma yet or CtA (I guess that should be my next project), but I was so inspired by the 4k life total and the idea of having a serious CS runner that I just had to ask you about the setup.

Congrats on the Infinity, Clervis! I found it to be pretty sweet as well! And yes, str on a CV can be frustrating. Helms and body armor w + str are pretty common fortunately.
 
2/3 nado with some res and 10fhr- it's rare right?

I found plain 2/3 pelt in 1.07. Thinking about pushing some holes in it!

SunsetVista: Hammerdin can do Hell CS with not so great geark. You can use for example Kira's, Guardian Angel on merc. Enigma is not necessary, though it makes runs so mucj faster!
 
Thanks. I think people too often consider Infinity a caster only item, but the fact that it cuts defense by 83% is a tremendous advantage to physical attacks. For a warrior mage like a K/T, it's perfect all around.
 
Yes, which is why I never responded. I don't think you realize how many hundreds of hours I've spent in alvl 85 areas :(
don't worry when you do find it you ate e almost guaranteed to instantly deed it

Still OT:

I wonder if rising sun would be good enough for a hammerdin to completely counter conviction w/o needing hotspur or tons of extra fire res? Then war travs could be used for MF, or whatever
 
Well I can't remember having resist problems, with pally Spirits giving a big boost. Later I'll regear my Hdin and try to hunt out some conviction and see

I would rather lose the 1 skill(and minimal life from BK, Mana not a big deal with Insight) than I would the Resist/2 skills from Maras or Skills/Stats/Res from crafted ammy.

Also, would a single dwarf star be enough? I know the mdr helps but the fire sorb is super low (and only a %)


Doing 5 Trav runs at 80 fire resistance, only swapping BK for Dwarf with NO merc
With Dwarf I averaged 350 damage
With BK I averaged 823 damage

Each set of 5 had 1 Conviction(took me down to 5 fire resistance)
 
trav runs? I meant using rising sun for CS runs since conviction + infector pack can be scary and players often use hotspurs and stack fres to avoid it.

mdr will stop most if not all hydra dmg from trav quite easily :D
 
I tele'd Chaos several times, but finding a Convic pack was too random, and I didn't use merc to keep all the damage right on the Hdin.

Just easier way to do it, that was with only 80 fire res.. not hard to top that+with merc taking some damage away
 
I love comparing CS set ups for hammerdins! I have resisted the temptation for more OT for a while, but my guy is pretty nice (96 HC). After much work and may re-gearings my setup is thus:

Stats:
1709life/657 mana (2920 life/936 mana after lvl 18 BO)
38/29/55/75 resists under conviction
4x4 space to pick up loot ID tome, 4 tps in belt.
306%MF, 86%fhr, 75%fcr,

Merc has gone through many, many revisions (Holy Freeze):
Steel Shade w/ ias jewel
Treachery in eth loricated
shaeled non eth reaper's

I highly recommend this merc set up; with holy freeze and a near constant decrepify we're very safe. The fire absorb, high ias/leech, and fade keep him alive through everything Diablo flames included.

Not only Rising Sun alone is enough to remove any threat conviction + firebreathers might cause, it turns all those demons into healing fountain. I'm using Rising Sun, and just because of that fact I need to use rejuv potion once per... 10 runs? Whoever do damage to me, random demon just replenishes my life, and Infector pack is megafountain. Whatever life I had before coming there, he heals me full in like 2 seconds, conviction or not. Actually fanaticism is more dangerous cause he can actually do damage to you then, if very lucky on hits that is.

War Travs for MF, ofc. Another approach is with absorb gear, but that only means you will have to use potions to heal yourself much more often. With Rising Sun its so easy, just tele and enjoy the fun. Fanaticism and might packs are no big deal if any fire demons are around, they will nullify their damage pretty much with healing you.

But, other approaches are also fine, this is just most comfortable way of running CS.
 
Have you guys tried Prayer merc+Insight? Infinite mana+doubled healing.

I tried it, yes. Anyway, point of using RS is comfort and only that. It's not best possible setup at all. If I would be serious about magic-finding with paladin, my ideal setup of choice would be this:

20 fcr gloves
dual beta BKWB rings
War Travelers

40mf Gheed
Rest 7mf small charms with resist if possible
Considering beta CTA, that setup would give over 3k life, high enough mana for infinite spamming with Insight merc, cca 10k defense, over 500 MF, and considering 30 allres pala shield cca 100 fireres, 135 literes without amulet and charms, 11.2k hammer damage. Don't know would that work for HC dudes since they can deed much stronger chars than that, so for them RS is safest option, while absorb ring provides less protection, but stronger mf char overall.
