1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

You got to be kidding me right? I just can't believe this, i mean seriously, people are already falling for the same lies again? The gullibility of it all is, wow, overwhelming.
Don't want to have anything to do with this anymore, thanks, but NO THANKS. wow

I'm also sure some people will start pointing fingers towards all these bad people with their bad criticism being the evil cause of this bad thread going completely out of hand. Blizzard and their lies for ten months can't possibly be the cause of this. Yep

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Wow, this thread has gone a bit out of hand.

No kidding.

There have been some great informative posts about this release, but they were mostly hidden in the "debates".

I'll leave this open for a little bit, but let's try to get back to more of 'what they changed and how it affects the game' and less of 'your opinion sucks'... or I'll lock the thread. Because right now I'd evaluate 75-90% of this thread as pointless, with a little bit of trolling mixed in.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Wow, a week away from the forum and 1.13 beta comes out. Perhaps I should go away more often!

I have read a good portion of this thread and I don't know where I stand on respeccing at the moment - you've all confused me. I'll have to go away and think about it.

I'll keep an eye on everyone's reaction though and once I have decided whether to give 1.13 beta a try or not I'll add my two pence.

(not cents :D)

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

So let me get this straight...Blizzard adds a quest reward into the game, and now people want the forum to come up with a stance against it? Declaring that it's "cheesy?"

So, we have to go out of our way to NOT use something Blizzard added into the game, and would require a player to go out of his or her way to avoid? Maybe we should just not use the resist scrolls from Malah, or the life/stat rewards from Act 3? Those rewards make the game easier too! Hell, let's just declare using any quest reward that helps a player in the game "cheesy."

And we better not use the respec feature to perfect a build either...well, then I guess we better not use guides to determine skill and stat placement for characters. We should probably ban Mat/Pat threads too, because that would let someone see where skills and stats should be placed on a certain character.

I know my post is dripping with sarcasm, but the reactions that people are giving about this patch are just as ridiculous. The forum needing to have a stance for an in-game feature? I'd probably stop coming here if I had to go out of my way to NOT do something that Blizzard put directly into the game in order to be a part of this community.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

I agree with Ray, if there needs to be a stance about respecing, then we also need a stance about 1.10s CTAs, since they are also items that were included only in beta etc etc.

You're not supposed to agree with Ray. It's an unspoken rule

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

None of us are saying that we wont accept respecs in the game. We're discussing why they chose to add them now, and weither or not we think it's a good idea. Plenty of us have a stance on 1.10s CTAs and the like... but we agree that the community is better if we allow people to discuss/use these items. We don't all agree and we don't all play the same way. We get characterized by the more extreme of us, but that's the way the world works.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

well I think the forum has a very good stance about hacks/cheats and the like, and I mostly agree with it. Those stances are meant to discourage stuff that was not approved by blizzard in the first place. Respecs are now part of the game, even if you don't like them. It's like having a stance against hammerdins "cuz they're overpowered/make the game too easy".

As for the patch itself, I like it very much. Yes, there's still a lot of work to be done, but I liked the changes that they've made. In the "what would you like to see in patch 1.13" thread @ bnet forums, I posted "The one thing i'll be looking for in patch.txt is 'blessed hammer no longer ignores immunities of undead/demons' " and I got exactly that, so anything they've added past that to me is just icing. In hindsight, I think TPPK is a serious issue, but it didn't bother me before because I wasn't a HC player. If they could fix this exploit before the patch goes live, it would be awesome.

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Let's start seeing a bit more courtesy in this thread, please.

Name calling isn't going to be tolerated.

The doodie head is right (LOL GET IT!? I WAS BEING DEFIANT LOLOL)

No seriously. I don't see the whole nice reason to go up in arms about the respec and all that. It IS a beta patch after all. I mean look at the differences between 1.10 beta and the 1.10 final, a few things didn't make the cut, and I'll assume a few things from this won't as well.

Is there an official thread or anything to report things on for the PTR? Like can people go to blizzard forums and pen down these responses in their own time in a "tell us how we did" thread?

My joke post from earlier aside(although most of it is how I truly feel it has become), us at the SPF have the wonderful choice of not having to upgrade. Heck, look how many people held out playing 1.09 for so long, and ended up breaking down to 1.12 anyways.

A new patch for D2 is like a new version of Windows. Everyone who is used to the current version cries out "It's different! So awkward! We fear change!" and then after a while they warm up to it, and it's "Not so bad". Although we do get the occasional "ME" version, but it's often quickly replaced.

On the whole issue of respecs, I would personally LOVE to see my character screen reduced from like 47 characters down to 10 or 11. It'd be nice to build up a few respecs and be able to say, "Well I want to play a bowazon today" or "I want to outfit this character for the upcoming pvp tournament".

Different isn't always bad, it's just unexpected, and while a few of our cries for help have been "ignored", are any of you seriously acting like it's such a big surprise? When did SP get much of a bump in support aside from its own players? That's supposed to be the point of this place and other forums that may have spawned from its members. We stick together, and we help the community out. If that means throwing around a hax or two to enable some runewords we feel we need, then so be it. If it means developing our own software to mule items and store them, that's fine too. Who are the internet police that are saying we have to do it any other way than our own?

Aside from the mods.

But those guys are noobs, m i rite?!

(i m rite)

It seems you've already made your decision to stay. This community doesn't accept -act5 switch that Blizzard put in the game.

You're confusing a repeatable in-game quest with a command line that was deemed "illegitimate" by most. Let's not get into "different levels" of hax. It's been done and done and done before. Nobody wins. Everyone loses. And almost always someone ends up banned.

So just don't.

kthx

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

uuuuu respec thingy looks nice (baal running barb...mmm lets try council running barb, ahhh heck lets make uber PvP barb...on second though lets get back to running baal). Just hope that blizz wont decide to shaft SP'ers and remove it in final patch (like they did with ubers) "yes you can find those parts, but you cant cube them to "token" gahahaha".
Another cool thing about respecing IMO is having some fun leveling pvp chars, or special area running chars. you could try 3 different builds during each difficulty and after Pat/Mat'ing dont have to rebuild just because you forgot to put few dex points to keep your block max etc.

Anyhooo Im happy with new patch, if they could remove that anya bug and few other ones Ill be more than satisfied.

p.s oh and *** you RRM users, now theres no reason to keep that color mod in our community. :)

That's pretty obviously just a developer thing for area testing if you look at how it works (You end up with a level x character in an act, unable to do any quests and without any waypoints other than Rogue Camp).

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

My stance about this patch is...... well.... well it is nothing really.

The only reason I play single player is because of this community. If communities like this did not exist, the single player would have just been a big blob of nothing and I would not even try to play it. That being said, i will wait as long as it takes to release the final patch and see the reaction of WHOLE single player community to it before upgrading. Though i personally feel little angry that SP was not given enough attention in this patch (was really hoping for ubers).

I guess that is my stance

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

I still have two questions I hope someone could answer for me:

  • Does the inclusion of the new items for the Act bosses decrease the chance of dropping other items, like the Keys do?
  • Is the 1.13 beta downloadable as a file? You know, for time travelling purposses, should there be interesting stuff...

Thanks in advance!

Re: 1.13 Public Test Realm online!

Well I have installed the patch and had a very quick play. I’m still disappointed about the IM, but from others posts it seems the Gloam damage change isn’t that significant.

Personally, I am happy about respecs. As someone has already said, we have a distorted view of things in the SPF. We have been playing with ATMA/GoMule twinked Envy gear / 1.07 Ravenclaws for so long that we have forgotten what a slog the early game can be. Remember we are a very small subset of the overall D2 community – most of whom have no idea what levelling with a 1.07 Ravenclaw is like. I see, for most people in the SPF, respecs will come into three main categories:

The ADD Respec
I’ll make a meteorb. I’ll make a blizzsorc. No, I want a blizzballer. We all know the type. Turn up in the SPF, post intro thread along the lines of “OMG this game is amazing, I’ll be here forever, this is such a great community!” Spam SPTF for a month without doing more than 20 Meph Runs. Leave. Post a “Hi guys I’m back!” thread six months later. Repeat.

The Respec for better items
This is the main reason I will be using respecs. I have several PvP characters, ranging from level 75 to 91 who have effectively become redundant since I got Enigma. Playing a smiter through the game a yet another Zealot is tedious in the extreme. I also have a strong sentimental attachment to my first WW/Trap assassin, Pris, and would prefer to use her PvP rather than my re-build. So respecs will be very useful here.

The Tweak respec
A few points out here and there are not very important PvM, but PvP players are obsessed with perfection. So I will probably using some of these too.

I have played more than a few odd builds PvM in the past. I will play more in the future. What I won’t be doing will be rushing a Blizzsorc through NM and re-speccing her as a two handed sword enchantress in Hell. For me this is part of the challenge of the game – the viability of the build throughout the game.

Respecs will allow me to focus the limited play time I have where I want to – playing powerful builds in high level areas and playing odd builds through the game. Hopefully it will encourage others to try PvP too – they can respec and see if they like it.
