1.11 Release Notes

Not sure if this is a 1.11 bug or my computer's fault (it's a bit dodgy at the moment due to a failed and not yet fixed Norton deinstallation), but it has never happened to me before.

I had just loaded my 2nd 1.11 game fresh from desktop and took my strafer out for a hell pit run. I entered /player 8, cast the valk and proceeded to the waypoint. Just that I couldn't activate the waypoint! It just came up a flash of that waypoint window and went away again. The same happened with the Options screen, so i couldn't exit either.
I changed back to /p1 and the waypoint worked just fine. Changed to /p8 again and everything was fine as well.

No idea if this is related to 1.11, but thought I'd post it just in case. :)

Those two Edge bows are with RWM, right? you know, you should be mentioning such important details, else we'll get excited for no reason :p
 
Is there a list yet of the new RW's stats? I saw a list early in this thread that gave the names and runes needed, but not what they made (I'm still purusing through the thread- it seems that some people know what they make already, but I haven't seen a straight out list of stats yet). I looked at arreat summit, and the RW list isn't updated yet, and I am not really familiar with the site, so I'm not sure if there was a side list somewhere I didn't see (I get all my d2 info here, so rarely go there).

and it shows them with the +8 to each one in atma but in game it just said the +8 To All Attributes

I can't speak for WayWardSoul, but mine was made with RWM, in v1.11.

Q. What is the status of the bugs from 1.10?
A. Here is what we have so far:
  • FE Bug is fixed
  • Gloams are as buggy as ever.
  • Poison Vipers (in Nilathak's temple) are still bugged.
  • Ethereal Armors that are upgraded now retain their ethereal bonus.
  • The charged item synergy bug has been fixed.
  • The Anya bug remains. The resistances from the resist scrolls Mala gives you for rescuing Anya stop applying if you die (despite what the LCS says) untill you save and exit the game.
  • The leap bug remains.
  • The invisible merc bug remains, and it looks like it may be more common in 1.11. Merc is invisible, but still attacks and gets attacked. This appears to be a display bug only. Some people have had all of their minions become invisible.
  • The door bug remains. Sometimes doors that are closed really aren't and monster's and players can walk through them.
  • The Trang's set still has a bug with the casting rate.

Q. What content does SP have in 1.11 compared to Battle.net?
A. It's certainly not as simple as it used to be.
Single Player get everything on the Battle.net ladder with the following exceptions:
  • We do not have the 23 runewords added in ladder season 2. These include Brand, Insight, Spirit, Wrath, and others. RTB has provided the RTB 1.11 RWM to add these runewords to SP. Remember forum rules about declaring mods if you want to MP/Trade and have installed the mod.
  • We do not have the Annihilus charm.
  • Uber Diablo does not spawn in SP.
  • The portals to get to the new areas/bosses (Lilith, Duriel Clone, Izual Clone, and the Tristrim Battle with the 3 bufed up brothers) in 1.11 can not be made in SP.
  • We do not have the Hellfire Torch.
The content that was added for SP is the following.
  • The 4 previously realm-only runewords: Duress, Prudence, Splendor, and Wind
  • Seven new runeword armors, each with +2 skills to a specific class. Their stats can be found here.
  • The keys (Terror, Destruction, Hate) spawn in SP, but cannot be used to open the portal. They will crash the current version of ATMA if you open a character that a key on it. RTB has given instructions for fixing this in ATMA. Extract this file into the ATMA_CONFIG\1.10 directory.

Q. What other new features/changes does this patch give SP players?
A. Here they are so far:
  • Hired mercenaries are now 1-5 levels below the character level. This means that a level 92 sorceress can buy a Act 1 merc from normal difficulty that is level 87-91. The hire screen shows stats from the mercs that are dramaticallly lower than would be normal. This is a display bug in the hire screen. Once hired, their stats are what they should be for a merc of the given level and hired in the given difficulty.
  • Mercenaries gain experience much faster, and are able to catch up/keep up better than before.
  • You can no longer drink a mana potion from a hotkey while holding the shift key. Your merc says "I can't use that" and nothing happens.

Q. Have any of the drop mechanics in the game changed?
A. Nothing significant. Here is the list:
  • The Countess, Summoner, and Nilathak have had their drops modified slightly to add the chance to cast the new keys. This does not affect the Countess's special rune drop.
  • Fangskin's Hell drop has been borked. (He no longer drops anything.)
  • Reports that Baals minion's drops had been nerfed are not correct. They drop like champion monsters (as opposed to minions or uniques) just as they did in 1.10. (In other words, their drops have always been crap, nothing new here. :D )

Q. What are the new bugs in 1.11 that have been found so far?
A.
  • The ctc Valk crashes the game if worn by a merc or used for a iron golem. (There are rumors this is fixed on the realms.)
  • The ctc Valk works for players, but she poofs when you go to town.
  • Fangskin no longer drops any items in Hell.
  • Using the socketing recipes on ethereal armor causes the ethereal bonus to be applied twice. So instead of multiplying the defense by 1.5, it multiplies by 1.5 x 1.5 for the bonus. This does not occur with the SOJ rare item socketing recipe. This bug does not affect ethereal weapons.

Q. Anything else?
A.
  • The current version of ATMA seems compatible with the exception of the new keys (Terror, Hate, and Destruction). Opening a character that has one of these on them will crash ATMA. RTB has given instructions for fixing this in ATMA. Extract this file into the ATMA_CONFIG\1.10 directory.
  • Ethereal items used for crafting lose there etherealness. This is unchanged from 1.10.
  • Diablo is unleachable in Hell. This is unchanged from 1.10
  • The new keys can not be personalized.

The following bugs are likely still in place, but some confirmation would be appriciated:
  • the Fend bug
  • the Charge bug
  • the Inferno/ArcticBlast bug
  • the Andy quest drop bug
  • the mana burn bug
  • the min/max + ED in armor bug
  • the Amazon bow tree AR bug

The following bugs have been reported, but need more verification:
  • It has been reported that 1.11 doesn't recognize mouse button 3. Anyone else have this problem? Cattleya's test: I tested all of the extra buttons on my mouse (mouse buttons 3, 4, and 5.) They are all still working in the game. I am using Mac OS X and a Kensington mouse (using the Mac OS X software to control it, not the Kensington software.) Others report no problems, although they did have to reset it. Could the person who had this problem post more info? OS, mouse type, any other conditions that might be important?
  • Iron Maiden bug. Iron Maiden affects bezerk. So far, only one person has reported having this problem. I did not have any problems when I tested with my Passion Enchantress. Iron maiden would insta-kill her when she used ES (and didn't have enough mana and reverted to regular attack) as was expected. Without ES, she was safe from iron maiden. If anyone experiences this bug, please get a screenshot of the death screen. Any other screenshots would be good as well.
  • Some minions from charges are dissapearing after a few seconds (Ravens from HOTO have been confirmed.) Are any other minions affected?

Other areas of interest:
  • I've seen reports of a serious bug for Mac users, where the game crashes when you exit/join a game. It looks like it may only be a problem if you are playing on Battle.net, but I would like to know if any of the mac users are having issues in Single Player or TCP/IP game. I haven't had any issues in SP to date, and I did a bunch of S&E and then loading a new character to see if I got the bug. So far, there has not been a fix posted by Blizz, but they are working on the problem.   • Are hidden skill bonuses the same as 1.10? i.e. passive AR bonus from Blessed Aim, damage reduction from fade... [I can confirm that the Paladin Resist Lightning aura still gives the passive +max lightning resistance.]

Not a bug, just a consequence of transforming into a vampire. Breakpoints are now known btw, they're in a sticky in the necromancer forum.

Not directly, but her odds of dropping runes did drop a bit.

This article reminded me of the Diablo II patches. It's about time Blizzard releases a patch fixing all the bugs without introducing new ones, so I get at long last the working product I paid for.

But more bugs (re)discovered:
- Carver Shamen in act V (at least in Nihlatak's temple on nightmare difficulty) are listed as resurrecting Warped, when they resurrect Carvers (Warped do appear in the first wave of Baal's minions, at other places they're named otherwise, Carvers, Fallen, etc...) As far as I know this bug was already present in 1.10

- I've had it now twice with my zealot, both in normal and in nightmare, that I did not get any speech from the Ancients after defeating them. I was paying attention not to click through it both times, since I know from 1.10 that that can happen, in this case however, they really did not start saying anything. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that my merc was still alive both times, but I've had a fishymancer with surviving minions and merc getting that message in 1.10 (the part "You are a worthy hero...", very important for my characters' ego's)
 
has anyone updated the Version Switcher program for 1.11?
I cant seem to go back to 1.11 which is in the root directory if Ive switched to 1.09 - I guess there needs to be a script to re-copy the 1.11 dll files back in.
 
Odd, I never got the Ancients "Worthy Hero" speech in 1.10. Nothing in 1.11 either. I always found it weird since the BradyGames that came with the battle chest has the whole speech written out. Just thought it was something Blizzard took out with a post 1.07 patch since the BradyGames was written based on 1.07.

I'm not sure what version switcher you're using, but if you're using the VB script one ('LaunchModGame'), then do a version upgrade, create a new subfolder called 1.11. Copy the two VB scripts and your save folder from the 1.10 folder and paste them in the 1.11 folder. Copy all the .dlls, Game.exe and D2_patch.mpq from the D2 directory and put them all in the 1.11 folder. That worked for me.

ATMA shows the STR req on Tal Rasha's Guardianship wrong. The item was dropped in 1.11. According to ATMA the str req is 83 and in game and on arreat summit the str req shows 84.
Is this a known problem or has it appeared with 1.11 ?

The -% req makes a the strength req have a decimal. Arreat Summit rounds up, and ATMA doesn't.
 
Mac multi-player freeze-ups on join/exit game

I tried a few LAN tests under OS 9 and OS X 10.3.x and a combination of the two, using an ethernet crossover cable between my two Power Macs (G4 1.25 GHz and G4 500 MHz both with OS 10.3.8 and OS 9.2.2), and didn't have any problems. Unless I was really lucky, freezes seem to be confined to Battle.net games. That's good for me, but really bad for most Diablo II Mac mult-player gamers who use Battle.net.

Update

Just started an account and a character on Battle.net and played for 3 hours just to test the Mac patch. I usually avoid Battle.net like the plague, but was curious about the Mac freezing mult-player bug. Please read my post above this one to see the results of my LAN tests.

Using the 1.11 Mac LOD patch, and OS X 1.3.8 on my Power Mac G4 1.25 GHz with an NVidia Geforce 4 Ti 128 AGP graphics card and 1 GB RAM, I started an assassin on the European realm and played in several games, some of which I created, some of which I joined. I tried saving & quitting from town and from elsewhere, when others were in the game, and alone, and when joined in a party and not in a party. I also exited and restarted Diablo II LOD a couple of times. I have a dial-up connection which isn't very good, but other than a slight lag once, I had no problems.

I didn't get one freeze upon creating, joining or exiting a game. Maybe it's just a problem on the US realms? Or maybe it's a problem with ATI graphics cards, which are pretty standard in Macs. Or maybe I was just really lucky...

Anyone else have any feedback on the Battle.net Mac freezing bug?

I have tried Andy bug in three different situations:

1- Old 1.10 already bugged char SF: still quest dropping

2- 1.10 char who had quest completed in 1.11: quest dropping

3 - 1.11 brand new char: quest dropping.

Yes, guys! Everybody's and their mother's (except for ricrestoni :D ) favorite bug to exploit is still running.

Her loss, I will beat her till she it gives up and drops me that fine Vipermagi...
