1.07 News, Info and Gossip

The bosses drop from their Normal TCs, so good luck getting other than low level exceptionals from Diablo And Baal.

I'm after stuff like Skin of the Vipermagi, Razortail, Demon Machine, War Traveller, Hone Sundan, Witchy, that type of thing. I've been going by ATMAs drop calculator and according to it they not only are dropable, they're relatively common.

I can't recall where i read the thing about act boss normal drops or if I just made it up in my head, but I certainly can't remember getting exceptional items from Andy or Meph.

Anyway, if we forget that and believe this is accurate:

Act bosses seem to be nerfed. It is unknown whether it is a bug or a feauture, but one thing is sure: they never drop from over TC 40. Too bad...

Then based on this the only ones of those you could find are Viper and Razortail anyway. I would be interested to see the TC breakdown of the drops from both of those targets though.

How do I find the these mid-range uniques then? After three hours looking for a stable Dagger rack and another nine hours failing to find the Gull, I'm finding the prospect of more rack-running might be a deal-breaker.

Highest TC normal Meph can drop is 33. Andy is 15, Duriel 24, Diablo 36 and Baal 39. I bet you would see stuff hit around those lines from them.

I don't think there really are comfortable choices in hunting the uniques. Monsters other than act bosses can still drop them so maybe cows or council? But don't expect to see too many gold items from them. Council is nice because you can force all greens from them with 374mf so maybe that would up the unique chances as well...
 
I've found a lot of uniques from council tbh. Rack BK set and if you have ark's and either arreat's or shako then you should be fine.. I only have ~100 MF on hork and I've also only done about 800 or so runs. Some of the more notable unique drops are 2xvipermagi, ravenfrost, tal's ammy (really easy especially if you manage the 374 MF bp), razortail, kuko shakaku, skullder's... that's all I can think of atm but as I mentioned I don't have that much MF


BTW I tested razortail with bone spirit and it won't pierce ;( There goes that fun idea
 
I have a pretty stable rack for Coronets in hell Kurast Bazaar. I'm also a sucker for the circlet family so this got me thinking if I should spend time grinding that rack for something nice like 2/20. I know that I can't socket them in 1.07 as they would always get only one socket but would they have the normal chance for 2 sockets if I brought them to 1.13d and used socket quest in that patch? If they can get 2 sockets when brought forward this rack could act as a free coronet gamble which would be kind of cool. So can they get 2 sockets when forwarded to 1.13d or do they keep that limitation of 1 socket at maximum?

found a 24 life warcry GC yesterday which is more or less exactly what I want for my trav barb :D
 
I tried the Hell council last night with my Cold Sorc but at >5 minutes to kill only two of the three bosses per round, it didn't seem worth it. I did find M'avina's True Sight on one of the runs though, but I died once.
 
def not worth it with cold sorc :p gotta be a barb or pally from my experience. Barb works perfectly, but I managed to run them years ago with a pally with high MF (300+?), somehow... This was using simple pdiamond shield and aldur's wep, SoE and the rest of the gear was garbage or MF
 
1.07 is very buggy and I don't trust the ATMA dropcalc blindly. From my experience with Travincal and Cows, the dropcalc seems to be somewhat reliable. For bosses it's not to be trusted because of what kimppi said etc.


The number of sockets has nothing to do with the patch you got the item in but with the patch you socket it in. A circlet will still be able to get 2os in 1.13d and a crafted sword won't get 3os in 1.13d, just giving some examples.
 
I have coronet rack in 1.07. Lot faster way to get nice circlets than gambling. For example got 2/20 necro circlet and punched two holes in 1.13. Now just waiting to get 3/20/2 pnb circlet. Picked also lot of 2 skill / damage reduction coronets.

Councils are surprisingly good target for uniques. Not that uniques would drop like in 1.13 but didn't know for example I could get skullder's and valkyrie from there.
 
woot! council dropped me a Coldsteel Eye which I was hoping to find eventually (50%CB, 30% slow) and I dinged to lvl 88 to max find item (29 for me after + skills and BC)

Now what to pump..? incr speed, nat res, zerk and iron skin all seem useful tbh (or shout for the same effect as stone skin but also increasing the duration of shout which is horrendous). Oh well, I have like 600 runs to think about it, and I'll probably go with nat res
 
question about class specific uniques like homunc. I've read that they get automods in 1.07.. is this true? Would I be able to get for example a + 3 poison nova homunc? (with 2 necro skills already on it)

Can someone post a readout of either homunc, oculus, or titan's?
 
The only one I've got is a Titan's and it's got +2 to tab on it.

Looking at what it says on the way back machine, there are no automods on Arreat's Face, the automods with only be skill tabs for the Zon, the +resists and attack/damage for paly, Life/Mana for Sorc orbs, but it does say that Shrunken Heads can have +1 to +3 individual skills. So, if I'm reading it right, a +2 PNova Hum isn't out of the question.

Hmm.. now that I'm thinking about it some more, it's probably better just to have a 2os rare head in 1.13 w/ 2@ and specific skills and then res, etc... because the block in 1.07 homunc is pretty low
 
I've never seen a shrunken head with sockets, in fact, I was unable to use the socketing quest to put sockets in one.

I was thinking 1.13d shrunken heads. I found out the other day that you can't socket wands, either, because I tried to socket my suicide branch for a small boost to MF... then I switched to wizzeh because it's way better anyway (even though just horking)
 
1.07 shrunken heads still have a use. Find a Bloodlord Skull, reroll it once with the 3pgem recipe (sets ilvl to 1), then forward it to 1.09+ and keep rerolling it. With an ilvl of 1, tier 1 staffmods like Raise Skeleton and Skeleton Mastery are the most common, but with its high qlvl, it can still spawn +3 skilltab, making a 2os +6RS/SM head possible. The highest possible without this method would be rerolling a rare with a lvl 1 char until ilvl permits tier 1 staffmods, but this requires 6 pskulls instead of 3 random pgems, and is thus not worth it to time travellers.
