Wow. I just stumbled upon this (webarchive of arreat summit, urings) and saw that thing :

Has anybody found this beauty ? Would it be findable in any way ? Like... Nihlathak has a high enough level ? Or is it in a TC that wasn't implemented, and it's reqlevel is too high to be able to get it from crafting ? :'( And it was removed in 1.08 too, cuz why keep such an OP item ? Or was the arreat summit wrong on the first of august 2001 ?

My sorc is nove level 18.98 (barely not 19 :( ) and has finished the desert areas in act2. Things are sloooow. Finally though of purchasing a + fireball staff. Got +2, didn't fuss as it was "only" 32k gold to buy. (wow) It helps in making things more interesting than waiting for the rogue to stop running around with her 3 socketed bow with 3 flawed emeralds (+105 damage over 3 seconds).

Also, she eats mana pots for breakfast. I was reluctant to do the full purple belt thing, but I might, as gold isn't that hard to come by (I pick up EVERYTHING ! D: ). Got my first rune too ! (El)

G.R.D. (Might start a zon, but I'm scared I'll loose focus, and end up with two low level chars both waiting for level 30 to get interesting... brufskjdfk,..)

Nope, Constricting ring is set to not drop in the game files.

Rings belong in the "Good"-TC. If it wasn't implemented, you couldn't find any gems, runes, charms, jewels or amulets either. :)

The highest ilvl you can get using the cube is 66(99x0.66).

Actually, cubing can produce ilvl99 items...quest items like the horadric staff/khalim's will are ilvl99 when transmuted, and the axe+dagger=throwing axe and spear+arrows=javelins recipes also produce ilvl99 items. The 3ring=amulet and 3amulet=ring formulas use [clvl * 0.75] for their output. Finally, as you stated most cubing formulas (including all crafts) use [clvl * 0.66], but that will max out at [highlight]ilvl65[/highlight], as [99 * 0.66 = 65.34], which is trunicated or floored to 65.

I like that, great suffix. Too bad you didn't get Chromatic to go with it. With high resistances and 25+ mdr, you will almost be immune to elemental damage. My druid only has a Dwarf Star (15 mdr) and it is stopping elemental damage fine.

The other stuff I wouldn't have run through Larzuk, because it doesn't take that long to shop good items. I assume you are using a cow portal at charsi to shop her. Edit: I have about the same armor with 4 ptopazes, so I agree on that one!

I have another question for everyone. I just rushed another character through the game, and I usually don't do Act IV Hell because I will just collect Hellforges in 1.10 and dump the character. I would say this was my fourth time going all the way. How do you deal with Act IV Hell? I feel the only way I could do it easily with my orb/tele/static sorc is if I pretty much do a full clear. The OK's hit really hard, you have to do it mercless, and orb does no damage if you try to tele and clear spots due to passing through other monsters (on p2 no less). And since the merc is deceased, there is nothing that stops monsters from getting to you, causing many extra teleports. I do have a sorc with maxed nova/lm/static/Blizz that I thought might be quicker, but I am hesitant to test it in a higher player count game. I am thinking my entering with my javazon would actually be pretty quick. What methods/characters do you use to get through this area with a bunch of characters in the game?

I have no problems with any other parts. I would say the next most annoying part is Baal, followed by Achmel of wave 2 (if magic resistant).

I have done a p4 and p5 full hell rush. I agree full chaos clear is your best bet. Deseis is very tough, and gv of chaos can be very tough too, since he is LI. My merc almost never dies, and I only died once in both rushes together (NM Baal)

My merc usually wears:

Shaft
doombringer
circlet (20ish resist all 13 Max damage)

he has about 1500 life, and I am only level 79, but was 70-73 when I did the rushes.

I don't consider myself to have great gear, it is mostly blues. And I use the standard orb static build.

I've done quite a few rushes, full clear is safest. Until I got my resists up, I actually found the Abyss Knights in the RoF leading up to Chaos Sanctuary FAR more dangerous than the OKs...their elemental attacks are just as bad as the OKs, and they ALL shoot, whereas Doom Knights are typically only dangerous to the merc when he gets IM'd. DeSeis's pack is quite nasty as well, as they are ALL OKs, and as kestegs said the Grand Vizer is always LI (as are all Storm Caster mobs, so his minions are too.)

Personally, I always just leave the merc dead in the CS...its just too hard to keep him from one-shotting himself under IM to be worth it, IMO. He's also very bad about pulling in mobs before you're ready for them, and generally messing up targeting and avoidance/evasion...

One thing that can help is to use one of the rushee's to open a portal in a cleared area of the CS itself...that way your rusher always has a useful gateway into and out of the CS. I usually spend more time running than 'porting in the CS...I find that the Bone Spirits from OKs will often become invisible if you 'port around too much, and those HURT (especially if you're cursed with LR), so I avoid that...obviously, if you do this, you'll want good FRW on your gear. I often end up killing the GV by shooting orbs AWAY from him and his pack and then chasing them (the orbs)...that way you're always shooting into the clear, and they'll be hot on your heels, so they still catch plenty of shards. Sometimes I'll do this for the Infestor of Soul's pack as well, especially if the merc is dead, as they are bloody fast, and will surround you quickly if you stand still long...

That's pretty close to my strategy, but I keep the merc up.

I also forgot to mention:
Rush a barb, if you do normal and NM ancients he will be 42ish. That gives you a pretty strong Bo/BC to buff your sorc with.

hi guys, I'm not sure if anybody else is doing this but I figured out a way to run LK with a secondary character without spending a lot of time on leveling.
I rushed an assassin with normal and nm ancients so that shes on 42, then i maxed burst of speed so that i can use her for racking in LK. I also put about 10 points in shadow master, with 1 point in CoS and mindblast.
I then put on FRW boots and whatever FRW charms and vita charms that I have. equipment wise just a lot of +hp/mana stuff. she zooms around in LK and uses CoS to get out of trouble. if things get really dicey i throw out the shadowmaster. I try not to do that though cause I think it changes the racks.
On my 2nd try I rolled a 2 campfire map next to the portal, and 2 armour racks on the route. 1 is a stable russet armour so I'll try to rack a Skullders.
in other news, I also cubed a 10% fcr 32 mpk ring. hope to get a few more of these.

finally, I have a question. What build will anyone suggest for collection of hell HF in 1.10? I have a few sets of rushees waiting to be forwarded, but I need a decent collector first. any suggestions?

Depends on your gear, but mainly sorceress is always a good bet cause of teleport. Lightning sorc with infinity was what i used, but if you dont have infinity any common hybrid sorc should work(Blizzballer,lightning/forb etc) too since its p1 anyway.

wut. you had an infinity pre collection of hell forges? how did you come by the runes? must have been some serious time invested there.
I do have some basic sorc gear but I will like to keep them on the sorc in 1.07. What immunes are there in the RoF?

I haven't visited RoF lately, but i think there was lightning immunes(mages),cold immunes(those nasty things which breed very fast), venom lords not sure what immunity they were, probably poison or fire and those maggot thingies i think were poison immune not 100% on it:P The main hard hitter is hephisto ofc. In beta 1.10a were i didnt have any good runewords i was using pure blizz sorc with merc for cold immunes. It worked quite ok, but merc needed to have decent gear to take down cold immunes.

Hell Act 4 is going to be tough to do without good gear. And you are correct to not count on having infinity... I to have this dilemna in my future, but I will probably rush and level up a character in 1.07. It won't have any gear, but I am planning on hitting up 1.10a for BK rings so I might do that first.

Arreat summit has different information for Hephasto, and I haven't been there in 1.10+ in a while. There are no magic immunes, so I would lean toward hammerdin or berserk barb. Unless I had good gear I am going to stay away from sorcs as you have to rely on the merc to tank Hephasto or moat him, which would require you to clear out more of the map and/or take forever. Looking at it, the berserk barb makes a good bit of sense with howl and bo to help out the merc.

PS can't get the table to line up for the life of me.

High level mercenary can tank hephisto quite well with the help of gear gotten from even mephisto(shaftstop, bonehew, andys/vamp gaze/tals helm) and telekinesis. Thanks to teleport the runs will be much faster then with any barb.(whos killing speed is largely dependant on his gear aswell)

Been running hell champs and superuniques w/374%MF for the past while, and noticed that occasionally, with higher qlvl items, I'd get blues that were NOT double dura...turns out that 374%MF is not quite enuff to guarantee sets from champs/uniques, its 375%. In checking up on this, I found this post by Yuiman from several years ago in this thread, detailing this exact thing...

In running the numbers on the MF formula, I also confirmed something else I had suspected...if you are looking for class-specific set items (in my case, Tal's orb and Trang's shield), then 375%MF is FAR too much...in fact, for Hell Champion/Uniques, 328%MF or more will force all class-specific item drops to be RARE or better quality...for class-specific set items from Hell Champ/Uniques, the magic number is 282%MF!! That explains the four rare Swirling Crystals I've found with NO green ones in the past few weeks!

I'm writing up the 1st draft of my 1.07 crafting guide this weekend, and wanted to doublecheck a few things:

1) has anyone ever crafted (or even seen readouts of) bugged blood (i.e. greater than 6%LL, esp. double-digit leech) amulets, boots, belts, or body armor?

2) has anyone ever crafted (or even seen readouts of) bugged blood items with Life Leech of 40+?

3) other than the 3 cube recipes that explicitly put sockets in items (3 chippy + sword, 4 healthpot + ruby + sword, and small sheild + spiked club + 2 skulls), has anyone ever cubed (crafted, 3Pgem reroll, 6Pskull rare reroll, Savage bardiche formula) an item that got sockets? For that matter, has anyone EVER seen a crafted item (in 1.07) with only 1 socket (excluding daggers that could only GET 1 socket)?

If you can answer yes to any of these questions, please let me know!
