I've been running 4 instances. My sorc is just in act 5. I have to say, this is the fastest I have ever got 4 characters past D!

level 28 atm. Running with an Cold Iron Wolf, since my act 2 merc got ate up. Heard act 5 baba's are the best b/c of fast health regain. So i will switch.

Going to run HC after this baal defeat, are there any good places to run for early item acquirement? Or just rack running various places in Normal?
(I am talking about normal here. Not rack running in hell or anything like that, as I will be starting HC normal with new chars. Thank you for whomever's help.):coffee::coffee::coffee:

Chipadin, eh? Will have to try this new knowledge. I really put low level skills aside, as there are no respects, but using one to run to the cube/LK would be a great idea...

Don't know if this is common knowledge but here's a trick I've been using for a while. Good if you're running with full inventory like me. In newer versions you have to keep the inventory window open before clicking to pick up the items but in 1.07 you can click on the item and open inventory after. You can see a lot more items this way when you have to pick up that specific one.

@Coju: Yes, this thread is very long, but I've read through it at least 10 times myself, and can honestly say I've picked up good info, tips, and such pretty much every time...its well worth the effort. (and the info to spam ratio is somewhat better than of late, mr. spamdog :wink: )

For starting up HC, I would heartily second zemaj's recomendation of a Holy Fire zealot...NOT to go completely through the game, but just through the first two acts (actually, only as far as halls of the dead to get a cube, unless you just wanna keep going...). Pallys are naturally tanky, and Holy Fire builds FAST...you can shop +HFire/+Zeal scepters at Akara, and scepters are pretty much the best speed/damage/req weapons at start anyway. Again, you're not taking this guy all the way (Melee is HARSH in 1.07 HC without really good gear), his purpose is to slaughter things in Act 1 to get gems for the ring recipies, gold for shopping, and twinking items for other characters (my favorite twinking item in any patch is the Horadric Cube...). Note that a HFire zealot is pretty damn awesome at smacking down Andariel, too...I'm pretty sure you can quest-bug her in 1.07 (of course, we're talking normal Andy here, so she won't drop anything really nice, but still, some good twinking gear...)

I'm not so sure about quest-bugging. There's no mention of quest drops in the TC-file before 1.10.

I know there's no special quest drop in 1.09, so I'd be surprised if there was one in 1.07. However, I do know that you can quest-bug the character in a previous patch for if you ever convert to 1.10+.

Ahh, yes, that's it...you CAN quest-bug characters in 1.07, but it makes no difference until you forward them. Thanks for the clarification, guys.

Andy would still make a halfway decent MF target, IMO, at least for low TC stuff...ATMA sez normal Andy can drop up to TC15, but I don't think that's right...she's only mlvl12 in 1.07. Still, according to the MF formula, she has about 2.5% chance to drop unique, about 12.5% rare, and almost 20% set (death's gloves and belt would be pretty sweet twinking gear...). Don't bother putting on MF in normal, it makes virtually no difference...

Andariel drops from Act2 Equip A that has a chance to drop up to TC15, they're only 1:44 chance to be picked though from the TC's (Armor and Weapon both).

There are no diminishing returns on item frw in 1.07. I made a guy who will be an exploding potion (shrine) hunter, and since I already had him filled with frw stuff I decided to go ahead and see how fast he can do an Andariel run in normal difficulty. The time of 3:35 might not sound very impressive, but I ran to her from town (granted, it is a previously explored map). Doing the same map unexplored (the exploration run) took 7:40 or so. http://www.mediafire.com/?5xb6843rfas6xsl

Anyway, this guy has to go find 551 exploding potions so I can roll all my rubies into rings. He can be improved with more frw by 30 on amulet slot and 20 on weapon slot (or 40 weapon slots if he was a barb). He also has left 8 inventory slots open, with the other 32 being 3%frw small charms.

Exploding shrines are your friends for collecting such potions- just make sure to pick them up one by one instead of clicking on them manually. But you probably already realize that!

Just be careful and don't re-"craft" a good one :p
