1.00 News, Info and Gossip

I posted a few youtube videos and I heard about the set stacking on death from one of my viewers. The same viewer also mentioned that when bones are cast they are "objects" but if you leave the zone far enough away and then come back, when they reappear they will be "enemies" and if you kill them with a different character then mf will apply. I believe two rituals you can force at least sets (and failed sets) in 1.00, but I didn't try too much and my memory is fuzzy because when I saw how fast I can get rares in 1.06 I just went there.

I will probably test turning bone walls into enemies "some day", but as with infinite grind objectives sometimes "some day" never arrives so it may be worth for you to try it out if you think it sounds plausible :)

Is it worth putting points in Blood Golem beyond the first? It seems like IM is dealing all the damage, and the leech rate hasn't really been an issue for me (p8, so leeching _a lot_). I'm hoping to shave points where I can since IM, CE, and Revive all want 20 points.

you can if you want to, usually i start running out of ideas for what to do with skill points later on, because it doesn't matter all that much once CE and IM are maxed. revives can help in some areas like CS.

Thanks! Good to know that slvl 1 is enough to keep a golem alive. I hadn't thought of Golem Mastery to make golems tougher/faster.

Another question: does anyone have the Strafe attack speed formula handy? I saw it on one of the archived sites (and discussion on 1-frame Strafe) but can't find it on Lurker Lounge or the old Basin.

You're in luck, i happen to be building an attack speed calculator in my nerdy spreadsheet :P

The info is scattered and hard to find, so ill start with a link to the breakpoints:

Amazon Basin Wiki

If you want the actual formula, its a sequence attack and uses a modified version of the basic formula which takes into account a variable known as rollback. I havent worked this out in my calculator yet but it looks easier than the shapeshifting tables im currently working on so it shouldnt be long now.

For the formula itself, you can start here:

Note: i dont know if the formulas are different in classic

Thanks! I did some more research and found the old formula here: https://web.archive.org/web/20010602211900/http://www.theamazonbasin.com/diablo/AKGuide2_12_2.htm. It looks like at 100 IAS Strafe may fire at 1 frame (assuming no cap) and at 300 it fires at zero.
I did a quick scan of the info and I cant find a formula different from the current, which one were you referring to @DariusTriplet ?

Im referencing this one at the bottom of the page:

This is the same as in LOD but is not what a serial attack like strafe uses.

It looks like a full clear of p1 arcane and high council gives about 2 and 1/9 rings. I don't clear act 4 because I don't like it being so wide open and chasing down mobs, but doing so would improve your efficiency I think.

"Next May" is still a reasonable target for me, but I am considering going try hard and try to "ring in" the new year.

ETA:
If playstyle isn't a big factor on your follow-through, I recommend trying either multishot zon or some sort of AoE sorc in multiplayer games to increase your drops. Hork does not work the way we know and love in LoD so no need to try Find Item. I started at p1 with barb, and will complete it at p1 with barb :p

Eeek! Thats pretty low!! How long is this run?

You were stacking two rituals right? Did you manage to put together a set of gear which allows you to afk with the souls?

If the run nets so few rings it might be better just to farm a champion pack next to a waypoint with GF gear and gamble! I had to do this anyway to level to 93...

I have done gambling with cocoon touch at 25k gold per touch, and I think the souls is better. Rings are not guaranteed to appear on the screen, and the rare rings per hour was not amazing although I don't have any numbers on it. I expect a council + arcane clear with two rituals to take about 30 minutes with high variance. There is the added potential in doing clears of getting other bases like boots, bets, gloves, hats, weapons. I am unaware of any gear set that could let you afk the rituals, but with only two needed it's not really worth it; maybe it could be done with a paladin that has maxed prayer.

Wouldn't rerolling maps and doing cow king be a lot better?

From my efforts, no. Cow king has way too many items in his drop pool for him to be an effective way to farm non duplicate rings. I would certainly not expect to find one ring every fifteen minutes. Rushing for Gidbinn might be more effective. In either case, there is not much chance for other interesting drops along the way.

Why level 93? I thought 92 is enough to get +2 on any amulet, am I wrong?

Also, I'm making a specific effort to finish my quest for 522 by the end of this year. I'm now at 400 rares and 34 soj.

Also also, does ilvl affect the probability of spawning 6 affixes on a rare? If so, maybe farming arcane was a mistake -_-

Ya 92 is enough but I wanted to make a statement to those gorebellies that I will not tolerate their unrestrained clubbing. Also leveling is not nearly as bad as it was made out to be. I would compare level 93 from 1.00 gorebellies to level 96 from CS in 1.14d.

Great work with the rings, I am looking foooorward to the reveal. Let's see if you can beat my current 'best' (subjective ofc) ring which from memory is:

Wraith Hold
rlvl 43ish?
All res 15
Fire res 33
Mana Leech 6%
something
something

ilvl affecting number of affixes - i have no idea. is your theory based on the # of affixes on the rings or other finds? if you want to search the 1.00 info thread, I would recommend using the archived thread and not this one

While ilvl *may* affect number of affixes, it wasn't as bad as like a 20 minute run of only 6 affixes from act 4 was making me think, so I'm no longer concerned about it (plenty of 4 affix rares from act 4 since then).

I did 26 rings today taking me down to 64 left to complete the project and keeping me viable to complete by end of year. And it may be worth noting that even though this is the 1.00 topic, the project is happening in 1.06
