[highlight]Geras, Cultist of Malstrom
Talents: Charms Expert, One With Nature, Pride, Specialist[/highlight]
After that lengthy trek through Act IV the group set out into the foothills, slowly plodding their way thorugh until they had reached, and killed, Shenk.
Now that both Grizzly and HoW are maxed, the bear is holding his own quite well. Progress is definitely on the slow side, but it remains steady and relatively safe so that's a good thing. The team made their way through the Crystalline Passage and down into the Frozen River, where witches made their lives quite difficult. Geras could only take a few stars before being dangerously low on health, but after some very slow, careful plodding and tactical bear recasts they did make it to Frozenstein and freed the chilly lady.
Geras and company then slowly descended into Nihlathak's temple and eventually tooks out the head honcho himself, before finding their way to the summit of Mount Arreat. We popped the players setting down to 1 for the fight, took a breath, and hit the altar.
A couple quick charges from our teleport staff on switch managed to separate Talic (Cursed) and Korlic (Extra Strong) away from their brother.
After they were down, the Extra Fast Madawc went down without a real fight and we were through to the WSK (and pack to /p8). Slow and steady was the recipe down there, and after a (VERY) careful clear of a gloam-filled Throne, we were ready to take on Baal's waves.
Colenzo's group was actually quite irritating with the resurrections, so Geras used his Sureshrill Frost (Hit Freezes Target) to shatter all the minions before taking on the shaman alone. Wave 2 was more of the same and we led the skellies out of the throne before shattering them (or letting the vine eat them) to make the Unravellers a bit easier. Bartuc was the polar opposite to those two groups, and led to a frantic and dangerous fight. They pushed us back to the entrance of the main room before we could stabilize and whitttle them down.
Ventar's group went much the same way. Here you can see the tactic we used; let the bear distract the group while Geras froze one of the miions so Annor could kill it as swiftly as possible.
Lister. Oh Lister. They were by far the most dangerous group as usual, so we had to carefully separate minions 1-2 at a time and led away to be disposed of safely. The group managed Lister just fine on his own, and it was time to go for Baal!
This fight started off in absolute chaos (fitting, for a Malstrom cultist, no? ). Baal teleported all over the place, raising clones and appendages like they were going out of style. It took a solid 5 minutes of chasing and dodging before things settled down enough to the point where we could even damage him. Eventually though, we managed to take control of the situation and got our group into position on the bridge:
From there it was simply a waiting game. Grizzly and Spirit recasts whenever needed, and it would be approximately 15 minutes until he finally fell. The drop was nothing to behold, but here's a look at Geras' stats upon reaching Conqueror:
Now let's see how long things take in Hell.
Some finds from Act 5:
- Tal's Belt (could be useful for a future cultist if they choose Mind's Eye as a talent)
- Ravenfrost (this will no doubt get some use at by someone, a prime candidate for personalization)
- Kuko Shakaku (I can see this coming in handy for a Zon, or even maybe a Rogue)
