OT: The SPF Path of Exile Thread

Since i'm a bit (read: alot) of a hoarder i need to keep myself in check. But with the extra tabs i got, i do notice i'm playing much more relaxed since i know i can keep currency or even semi-decent items if i think they may be useful for this or another char.

Also i think i fell in love. My shadow was using viper strike, which was doing a nice job. Slight annoyance was it was a single target attack so lots of clicking. Now he got to the lvl where he got what is supposed to be his endgame skill: blade flurry. It totally wrecks. I'm loving it. I can only hope it keeps up in damage as i progress to higher difficulties, but for now it's absolutely fantastic. Oh and almost forgot: mana use is so low i can get rid of those flasks and use the slots for other more useful flasks. So that's nice too.

Got a prophecy that confused me a bit. Apparently i'm gonna kill Daresso while wearing a certain unique. Only problem is, i don't even have that unique yet. Does this mean it's guaranteed to drop before i get there? Or does this mean my prophecy is gonna stay open until i accidentally find it in a few years and then decide to go back to Daresso to finish the quest? Will be interesting to see. Next up is Daresso, so i think i'll find out this evening.

Not sure how prophecy's work unfortunately since they did not exist when I played.

I always enjoyed dual strike on my shadow. Could get some insane attack speeds going on. I think blade flurry was a new skill just as I stopped playing.

Edit: Could you not just trade for the unique? (Assuming it is one of the horde of cheap ones!)

The prophecy is badly worded, what it means is that IF you kill Daresso wearing the unique item it will be upgraded to a better version of that item (Like going from normal to exceptional to elite).

My SSF Witch is currently in Act 3 Merciless; other than the occasional one hit kill (I really need to find some Chaos resistance), she is creaming everything.

Already found that out. Went up against him and didn't find the item before (or after). Didn't know it would upgrade the item though. Could make it interesting to get it done, although IIRC when looking it up nothing really stood out about it, so maybe i won't be using it either way. Probably could get it cheap if i went out trading for it as it seemed to be a low armor. Right now i don't really need the extra prophecy slot so i'll just let it be and hope i find the item soonish myself.

After taking on Daresso my shadow made short work of the remainder of normal. Nightmare he had a slight dip in kill speed. Fortunately the next few points i wanted to pick up from the passives were increasing damage and i'm doing fine after that. One thing that was really surprising is that that meteor skill is melting me. I had to double check, but i still have maxed fire resist so i don't really get why it hurts so much, but it does. Act I is also done. So next up is act 2 of cruel. Or maybe i'll do the labyrinth in normal. But i kinda want to hold out on that one for now as i have a prophecy that let's me use that glove enchanting device twice yet i don't even really like the pair i'm wearing now, let alone have two pairs i'd like to enchant.

Haven't tried dual strike so i don't know how the two compare, but blade flurry is a very fast attack too.

This thread fired me up to download POE again (on my wife's computer so will see how this goes...).

I know nothing of the current game situation so need to do some serious reading but I will probably have some items which can help out anyone starting up if they are in standard.

My account there is Dodgydave (same as here) main character I will be on will be called DDSceaduwe if anyone wants to hit me up.

Shadow made quite a bit of progess. First he got until late act 4 of cruel. There he hit a bit of a rough spot. Did a few farming runs on the docks. That helped both in lvling and in getting a bit better gear. After that he continued his journey. He's now in late act 2 of merciless. This means at least i can get some decent farming going on the ledge if i want to. Offensively he's still going strong. Unfortunately defensively he could be better. Most of the regular stuff is fine, but special monsters from stuff like those leaguestones can cause some trouble. And somehow they have a habit of killing me when i'm nearing another lvl.

Thought i'd let him do cruel labyrinth. After about half an hour in he got oneshot by a unique monster (i think he drops a key for those chests at the end) that is optional in an area that i'm not sure i had any business in. So i was like: i'm not gonna do this any more today.

After that i hit up my scion. She made some nice progress and just finished normal as my weekend ended. I think that makes 5/7 that finished normal. Hoping to get a few chars a bit further. I can't keep a lot of stuff despite it may being useful to other chars. Just because it's too much to keep and they don't have the lvl's/stats to try it on just yet.

Also bought that special currency tab. After getting those 6 tabs initially 1 of them filled up way too quickly with currency so stacking them up to 5000 seemed like a very good idea. Judging by the stacks i already have it seems that was a good idea.

And don't tell kestegs, but i did install the loot filter he recommended. Wanted to look at how it was made to start improving mine, but it was so much and i felt more like playing instead of going through all the lines of 'code' the filter consists of. So instead i just tried it out to see how it goes. Starting out with the lightest filter of course. Especially in merciless it helps quite a bit (stegs wasn't kidding when he said there's tons of loot there). Still i tab highlight constantly, but i already found out that i mostly look at stuff the filter highlights and mostly ignore everything else. It's just an old habit that's hard to get rid of.

Nice progress Cyrax.

I've been pretty slow as there is a lot of new content for me to get used to so I have been mucking around with a Firestorm witch in SSF League where I have reached the middle of Act 3 for the first difficulty.

Think I'm just going to put my head down and push on as I am now getting a better understanding of most of the league mods.

I heard what you said there, @Cyrax

Yes, the loot filter is quite intense as far as code goes. He has done a very good job with it though, and I have very rarely needed to look for things outside of it. You can always add or subtract lines from it though if you find it to be a problem.

I would like to get back into playing, as it's been a few weeks. My HC SSF Scion is currently lvl 81 and doing low tier maps very carefully.

There's seriously people playing this game in HC? I already felt some stuff in normal can kill you, let alone on the higher difficulties. Staying alive until lvl 81 sounds like you're doing a good job!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention my first 6L dropped. Can't really remember what it was, but it was some kind of two hander. Unfortunately for now i have no char in progress or even in the planning that'll be able to make use of it. Did stash it just in case.

Not much time to play yesterday. But..the unique i needed for completing the prophecy of killing Daresso while wearing a specific unique actually dropped! So i think i'll go ahead and complete that quest today. It won't do me much good. Even if Nix is correct in that it upgrades the unique. Unless the upgrade also means different variables on it. Cause the base item just sucks (bramblejack if i'm not mistaken on the name). Just upgrading it in rarity for higher defense is not gonna do it any good. Oh well. At least i'll have room for a new prophecy.

I got to Merciless Piety Ascendant yesterday with only about a dozen or so deaths under my belt; eighty deaths later I finally killed her. I am nothing if not stubborn! The Beast is going to be a nightmare.

Edit: It took less than 40 deaths to kill Merciless The Beast; and boy was that an anti-climax!!!

Gogo stubborness!

Got rid of one prophecy that made me kill a specific monster with a specific item and now my other char got another one. Gotta kill Brutus in cruel with one of Shavrone's items of which i currently have zero.

On the upside i was starting to think my righteous fire marauder was gonna need to be parked until i got a specific piece of equipment since i got pretty much all of the life regen nodes on the passive tree and i was still burning up. Found a nice enough unique (not the piece i was looking for though) and gave it another try. I still need potions but with regular enemies i can sustain that and other damage taken with potions. With heavy hitters i still got to turn it off as it takes away my health too fast.

Had some weird moments with the aura turning off at seemingly random moments. As it turned out it wasn't that random after all. It always happened if i tried to get life back using my second potion. It's possible that the 'bubbling' part of it causes it, but much more likely it's because it removes burning on use and since righteous fire is kind of a burning aura i'm guessing that's it. It's both annoying and helpful at the same time. I really got to be careful to use other health potions and not that one when healing, plus i got one less health potion to use. On the upside it makes it really easy to turn of the aura in case the situation calls for it.

Said marauder is now lvl 57 (almost 58) and just killed Voll in cruel.

Oh yeah and i got a stack of those divination cards that gave me a 20% gem. And what do i get? Minefield support. Yay i guess. Is there some good build that uses mines? And while i'm asking: How are summoning builds (gotta love me necro's :))

I should? It got like 2K more defense, but other stats were pretty bad and didn't change. Or is 2K defense for some builds really good?

I've run all four Tier 1 & 2 maps and a couple of Tier 3 ones; this style of play is not quite floating my boat!

Righteous fire barb has made a ton of progress. He got to act 4 on merciless (not finished yet). Ascended in cruel. Cleared his first map. And is now level 69 if i'm not mistaken. Still needs potions to run the aura sustainable, but it's gotten to the point where i can keep the aura up against most things. Killspeed with it is just huge.

That Dominious fellow took me out like 20 times or so. His lightning is hugely overpowered. My lightning resist wasn't great, but i doubt it would've mattered much. As for contrast: His second form (the evil bunny) killed me a total of 0 times.

As i've been playing him a ton the last few days i think i'll play one of the other chars today in order not to burn out on him.

It's like Diddy Kong Racing (or was it Mario Cart), a dumb storyline to inspire us to drive in circles in order to open new tracks to drive in more circles!

Hehe, well I guess that makes sense. The story line isn't a big part of my thought process on anything, so it doesn't bother me.

Look, you played a ton of D2, so you know better than to say that resists don't matter. Being resist capped in this game is exceedingly important, especially against certain bosses.

You should be able to maintain RF without too much trouble if you built your tree for it and are using a few pieces of gear to help. Look RF up on the wiki for tips on how to maintain it if you need help, they show all the ways to deal with the degen.
