OT: The SPF Path of Exile Thread

@h0nkeythecracker Thanks for the links. Didn't know that, very useful info.

@Cyrax With magic+ I mean magic, rare and unique yes. So quality white maps won't help.

You can keep some white maps for now. Almost all the maps I did where white ones which I turned to magic with an Orb of Transmutation. After you get a certain tier completely done and have enough of the next, you can ditch the lower tier ones. The more you progress, the more maps of the same tier or higher you should find, and so the less you should keep.

@h0nkeythecracker: I knew some of this, but other stuff is new for me so thanks for the info.

Problem wasn't the maze itself (annoying as it is). Also adds weren't much of a problem. Died at the second Izaro encounter due to his leap jump that hits hard, combined with the green stuff he sprays around. That also hits hard and i'm suspecting it's chaos damage as i have that in the negatives. So perhaps a simple flask would do the trick? He first hit me with a jump, took a potion, but before that could get my life up enough i got hit with that green stuff and that was it.

@T72on1: I got the part where odds of higher maps increase with your score in the Atlas, but didn't know how to increase it. Oh wow, it didn't even occur to me that you could use those orbs on maps. :facepalms: Got a load of white maps so i shouldn't have a problem to keep going on magic maps then.

I just logged in to update to the newest patch and noticed that the fans in my laptop had really much work to do with the updated graphics. Anyone else having a problem like this? Didn´t make much fun and besides I noticed lagging in some areas.

You just need more practice then. Most of his attacks are telegraphed, similar to Diablo, so you should be able to dodge them. I have no doubts that you will get the fight down soon though. Good luck.

EDIT: This is also great for Chaos-based damage fights: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Atziri's_Promise . Not sure if you trade or not, but if you do, then this should not be very difficult to obtain. It is very powerful for its cost.

@Macintom: Didn't notice anything of a sorts concerning the fans. As far as lag goes: most of the time it goes well, but every so often it lags for a while and then all of a sudden either i get kicked out or it gets better. So i'm guessing you just hit a rough patch on that part.

@h0nkeythecracker: Maybe so. I think i could take him in a few more tries. Perhaps even the next one. Unfortunately every time you have to get through that blasted maze. So i think i'll wait until i'm stronger and increase my odds of getting it done the next try instead of having to do several. I really hate that maze and the fact that you have to start from the beginning every single time. They should've at least made a halfway point or something.

Also a couple of questions:
1) I found an item with 6 sockets that i wanted a 6-link of. Is it worth trying to reroll for that (5 links would be an improvement over my current situation too)? I don't have that many fusions and i have 2 out of 5 div cards for a guarenteed 5 link of that item so right now i'm thinking i may better be off trying to find 3 more cards or hoping to have a 5/6 link drop.

2) I did a few magic maps which gave me a piece more of the map. But it also seems that now i'm stuck at 4/126. Does this mean i can only get it to increase further by doing at least magic tier 2 maps now?

And on an unrelated note: There was a patch and now it opened full screen. Could be that the patch fixed it (even though i don't think the release notes mentioned anything of a sorts).

Regarding linking:

If an item has some quality, each 1% quality improves the result by 1%. While the chance of obtaining three or four linked sockets is relatively high, the chance of obtaining five or six linked sockets is very low, and on average requires hundreds or even thousands of attempts. The probability of obtaining six linked sockets is very close to 1/1500, meaning that for risk-averse players it is generally worthwhile to use the Artisan's Bench instead of using Orbs of Fusing manually.

Artisan's Bench provided by Vorici:

Five Linked Sockets - Lv4 - 150x Orb of Fusing
Six Linked Sockets - Lv7 - 1500x Orb of Fusing

6-Linking in general is a pretty long term end-game-ish project, as you can see. When I'd be happy with a 5 link, I tend to use fusings manually to get it just because it provides that tiny chance of getting a 6-link as a bonus.

I've never been too successfully with Vorici's quests; many of my characters do AoE damage and he always wants a to keep someone alive! I must admit that I had forgotten about his bench though.

I only have 20ish fusions so far so i figured my chances weren't that great. Didn't know they would be this bad.

Yeah, annoying if you have to keep one alive. I sometimes fail those as well. I even had to abondon one of the other masters as i had to go down to an area for that, but somehow i couldn't descend. I think she was standing in the exact same spot i had to be to go down. So yeah abandoning was the only option.

Oh and i seemed to have missed a quest in act 9 so i finished that yesterday. Still somehow managed to miss 1 wp (is there an easy way to see which?) despite doing nearly all full clears. And even more environmental lore and optional chat.

Maybe I got lucky, but it didn't take me too long getting a good 5L just playing through the game. Going for a 6L with fusings is a recipe for frustration, unless you get very lucky.

For maps, yeah you have to do tier 2 magic maps now to advance beyond 4/126. Hopefully some dropped for you already. If not, you can trade 3 tier 1 maps to Zana (or any merchant?) for a tier 2 one. I might also have some spare ones. If you still need them next time I'm online, remind me about it and I'll check.

I should check to see if I don't have some missing quests either. I think I haven't done some optional ones, and who knows it's quests that give a point in the passive tree or something else useful.

I didn't have any issues with my fans either. I'm pretty sure that the game actually asks a lot of my system, which is some years old by now. Luckily enough the scaling resolution thing makes sure that the game doesn't lag for me. It does get quite blurry when a lot of stuff is happening at the same time, but I definitely prefer that over big frame drops in heavy fights. Not sure if it's an option you have to enable though, so maybe you should check.

@Cyrax It was a lot of fun teaming up yesterday !!! Definitely good for xp progress as well :).

I looked a bit more into how loot is allocated between party members. Apparantly it's the party leader's (which was you yesterday) setting which counts. That's why I also got short allocation, while I have set mine to permanent. Also, all maps except for uniques, drop exclusively for the creater of the map. That's why I couldn't pick them up. Next time I'll be a bit more careful to let you create the maps :p.

Had a good time myself too. Bit unfortunate that i had that death near the end, but i think i'll live. :)

So maps in maps only go to the creator? Why didn't they make it follow the regular settings, so in our case: short allocation? Not sure why you'd make an exception on maps from that. If you'd really want a map it may also work if i pick it up and then drop it?

Shortly before we MP'ed i found my first exalted. In Zana's daily mission iirc.

Oh yeah, and i forgot to ask: Did you follow a guide of sorts? Seemed like a fun build. After a quick search i found some build guide on the subject, but not sure if it's the same as you were doing or just similar.

Lastly, i cheered too soon on the full screen mode. Yesterday it opened in windowed mode again. Sigh.

The Storm Burst build in this thread is the guide I'm following, with some things done a bit differently. I'm mainly still looking for a good piece of armor to include Shield Charge as mobility skill.

Yes, I think if you drop it I can pick it up. Or you can use the trade window for it.

Not fun about the windowed mode. Have you tried windowed full screen yet? I can't really tell the difference with full screen anyway.

You only need a two-link for shield charge. Faster attacks support + shield charge. Surprised you guys are not already using it. One of the biggest reasons to use a shield in the game.

Been playing with various chars over the weekend, but my main char still made some nice progress.

First he got the 5-link i was looking for through divination cards. Only the colours were a bit off, but that was an easy fix. Now i could enter my cold penetration gem. Unfortunately i only have the dex to wear it at lvl 1, but still i felt that it helped quite a bit.

Shortly after i made it to the next lvl so while not having much to lose i decided to give the merciless lab another go. Had one NDE at the final bossfight, but i survived. That led to the most significant upgrade of my char. Now instead of 2 totems i can put up a total of 4.7% decrease in damage per totem, but with 4 totems up the overall damage output had a massive increase.

This upgrade made running maps lots and lots faster and easier. Even did a tier 5 map solo with ease at the end of the weekend (prob. the easiest of bosses, but whatever). Also my frost gem made another lvl (19 i think) so that helped a bit too. And i upgraded the first of my (minor) god powers. Choose to upgrade the minor one which gives flask charges if you don't use them for a bit. Now it gives more or faster or something when low on life.

Ended up the weekend at lvl 80. Could've been much higher if i stuck with this char for the weekend, but alas.

Cool, good job !!!

I haven't played much, but started two new chars too. One to play with a RL friend, and another one for when I get tired of doing maps. Definitely fun to start over again.

My highest lvl char is only 78, but should be able to handle tier 5 too. Hopefully we'll bump into each other again at some point :).

Putting the game in full screen mode, changing to dx9 and turning off the shadows has made the game playable again; but now it falls over if I Alt-Tab out of the game to look at something! I finished Act 7 with my glacial cascade miner and now off into Act 8.

I've been thinking about a miner too, but decided i didn't want to start too many chars i may never play much if any.

After today my PoE are gonna be on hold for a bit as tomorrow Destiny 2 comes out. I think i will be playing PoE fairly quickly somewhat regular after the inital burst as i'm having fun with my frozen totem dude.

To finish it off for now he's reached lvl 82. Cleared a couple of rare T6 maps. With ease i might even say. Not sure if lucky on which T6 rare maps i had or if i'm now really that strong. I suspect a bit of both. Finished twinned maps of tier 1, 2 and 3 (part of an achievement).

So yeah all in all the Atlas is starting to form nicely. Still missing a few lower tier maps here and there, but i guess that'll come with playing.

For now i'm gonna stick with: I'll be back. :)

I am alternating between PoE and D2:1.00. When I have an extended period free to play I play PoE, if not I play D2.

Returned to PoE (much) fast than expected. Destiny 2 is nice to play through, but somehow isn't having that irresistable draw that i have to play it after finishing the main campaign. Could be just me as most other people seem to be quite enthusiastic about it. Anyhow, now i'm kinda alternating between that (for the other 2 classes) and PoE.

Made quite a bit of progress on the Atlas. Not counting the unique maps i did most of the maps of t6 and below. Even did two t7. And just finished my first unique map, which doesn't seem to be in the Atlas? It was the beachhead, a unique harbringers map. Got it after using a handful of harbringers orbs. Not sure what the odds are, but it feels like i got really lucky. It dropped a ton of currency(pieces) at the end.
Been buying some maps from Zana that i was missing. They're quite expensive but it's an easy way to find those rare maps you need for higher tiers to get the completion bonus. Also shaped my first map (after that it didn't drop yet so i don't know how it feels like playing that map now). Currently i'm at 37/126.

Totemguy is well on his way to 85. Also making good progress on another char that i'm making some frozen arrow archer. And i finally cleaned up my stashes and old chars. Deleted all but 1 that are not in the current league.
