@Gripphon - I use Infinity/CoH/Steel Shade on the merc. Is the extra 100% damage from Fort worth sacrificing the extra resists for safety?

If what I know is true that when merc has Infinity, he is immune to conviction from Travincal dudez, in that case Fortitude brings him to 75 lock and he never goes down from that, and in that sense CoH does not offer any more protection with resists than Fortitude. As for damage, difference is really small overall, but if merc does not need leech from CoH to survive, then Fortitude is simply better option, even if it is by a hair. In the end doesn't matter really.

Another general question: would a Nova/CE Necro be any good at Trav runs?

Good? Yes. Comfortable to play? Not sure. Here is vid of him I made before. I'm sure he can be tuned some more, especially using other curse, but ~26s running is possible with him by a test. Perhaps faster. Should test him again some day with other setup and amplify damage curse.


@Gripphon Thanks for sharing, interesting points. By the way, in case that 20/19 Wisp annoys you, I recently found a 20/20. Price is Zod. :)

I'm not really that kind of perfectionist when gear is in question. Don't even have a single perfect Nagel yet too. :D

By checking vid immediately saw few things that can be improved. ^^
Don't know about the golem, I never liked Insight golem solutions for any necro out there.
 
I played nova necro at council back when I played SC in 2011, and I think it was a lot of fun. Fun character in general, though.

could probably make iron golem sturdy enough to survive 100-200+ runs with left over points, too.

With over 20 GM (still pumping) and 12 IG/BG/CG IIRC, it has been surprisingly durable standing side by side with my mercenary. Currently he is cast from a 6 socket elite maul with 2 x Psaphire, PTopaz and Shael.

Edit: Nice video @Gripphon thanks for sharing. Definitely something I want to give a whirl as Pb_pal mentioned.

Finished first set. I have no idea how many exactly, but did somewhere between 3700 and 3850 runs total. I have to estimate since first 2.5 hours did with goldfind sorc and then with standard sorc I found final upgrade after 8h or so.

Thanks for the Round everyone and good luck with your runs! I would definitely have enough time to get maybe 10 hours on a second set, but I'm not gonna do that, mostly because I'm tired of running Travincal at this point :)

And to end in a note, I'm now 85% I'll be running Cows with my Hammerdin, no matter the efficiency vs. Javazon. Like a true triathlete.
 
@Southpaw8668 Thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed you find one. This was my second eth one, first one had quite a good roll as well. Btw, I think I found some 4 Reaper's from Council already, in 14.5 hours time. Before that also quite a lot from other sources. So they aren't that uncommon. Just to say that chances you find one aren't too small.

@Gripphon I agree with you on the lightning / Conviction combo being the only dangerous stuff from Council if you have a well geared character. I'm ashamed to admitt I already died 3 times to the Council in 14.5 hours time, and all 3 were when this combo was around and I just reacted too slow when my life went down. So I'd definitely switch to a Wisp Projector too ... if I had one :(. Still one of the 2 rings missing for me. With my setup I guess I could switch belt from Arachnid's to Thundergod's, gloves from Hellmouth to Magefist and then boots from War Travelers to Waterwalks to see if that works out, but my damage is already on the low side, so I'd rather not and keep the Arachnid's instead. With my current routine on this map and the fact that I now know where the danger lies, I'm confident I'll be able to stay alive with my current combo.

I should be getting close to finishing my first batch this afternoon. Will probably start a second batch on Sunday or Monday, but I'm not sure yet. Travincal is starting to get boring from time to time.

Btw, I had 2 good drops yesterday right before finishing, both grailers. I'll post them later.

The Boneshade is +1 Bone Wall from being perfect, so definitely very nice. I didn't have plans to make a Bonemancer, but this more or less makes it a moral imperative.

Bane Ash is always rather hard to find, so that was a pleasant surprise as well. Only Greyform, Biggin's Bonnet and The Gnasher to go as far as normal uniques go.

I'm also not completely into second set honestly. Playing 2hr 50 min per day till the end of the tourney to have full 20h feels more like a work than enjoyment of farming. But since Travincal is masterrace farming target, I'm thinking either I do 2 sets here, or do them nowhere since there is no better farming place than this. :D

As much as I am excited to finally nail some cows, chances are I might regret if after 5 hours of doing it lol. What we need are 3 weeks of farming so we can properly finish 2 sets without going bananas on playing every day to make it done in time. 40 hours 2 weeks = 2.85 hours a day, exactly what I have to do to finish my second set. One set, on the other hand, feels like very little playing. It is like for 1 set you finish it just like that given you have time, and for 2 sets you really have to dig in to nail them both. I know I was bored by doing only 1 set during first 2 weeks, and now I feel slightly overwhelmed by doing 2 sets in 2 weeks. Not fair etc.

Also don't take this whining seriously, normally 2 weeks is fair. Hey, 2 sets do bring big advantage to players who do them, they might as well work for them a bit more to make it happen. I'd say a price of such advantage is 3 hr a day (hours, not high runes mind you). Take it or leave it, simple!

I still have 47 minutes left of my first set. Kinda ridiculous amount of time to leave hanging, just enough time to get into running and get disappointed, so now I'm kinda reluctant to play :p Of course, that could serve as a nice flying start towards the second set. Of course, I have no idea if I actually have time to finish the second set, but then again, what else am I gonna do.

So is anyone else here running a sorc that doesn't have a CtA? It is a lot harder than I thought it would be lol.
 
First set done, 2 hours into the second. No idea how many runs, I switched to my phone's stopwatch after getting runtimes somewhat under control. Probably ~3200, with the Barb runs Ended up playing a lot less with Barb than I planned, as I was often quite tired when I got time to play, and the Barb just needs too much focus. With Sorc you can just zone out.

These numbers lead me to believe (when compared to Gripphon's and Neksja's) that I skip quite a few gems and jewels but nearly none of the runes. Now I kinda wish I'd have counted the rune totals, as the Ral amount seems unusually high. Not that I'm complaining. If there's one thing I'm happy about joining RFL, it's the fact that I'm gonna be able to go on a serious crafting spree after the League.
 
I actually have fun doing this second set, 6h in and I plan on doing 2h more later on, or slightly less. So far it is a very tight race in RFO score in between my sets and maybe top 5 might also end up very similar. Which set will prevail I wonder. Second set will prevail in farming, no question about that, though I'll see did all those charms or jewels score anything. For now I don't even check what dropped, I'll do it after 20h is done to check tons of stuff and have fun doing it :D I'll also have precise statistics on stuffs picked up and how many things I miss since I deliberately leave stuff on the floor if I can't reach it comfortably without digging.

As for RFO scores, I hope everyone will write all their qualifiers after results are posted to have more data on RFO-type of scoring (all Um+ runes, Pul is excluded from scoring). Here are all 100+ RFO scores so far. Let's just pretend that #1 never happened...
