1.13 RoF Superchest Patterns

Some of you are going to HATE me for this :

confirming jah # 1
you know it.

I did 500 LK/RoF runs today. this is nr 496, nothing in between for RoF. In fact, Jah is the only HR I found in RoF. poor me.

@Pb_pal It would've been a good idea but there is a major difference between jjscud and me. I am simulating patterns by hand being able to do ~250 runs a day (750 ROF patterns). Jjscud had automatic software that made him simulate 30000 runs a day. As such if I just say #Ist 1 and # Jah 2 it would get very confusing. If I was using Jjscud way of running yes I would just post a number of patterns but for now that is of little use. So lets just summerize if I run by hand I upload the patterns on the way I currently did to avoid getting this thread messy, if I am able to do automatic runs I make a separate thread containing all the data files.

Another fact is even I do have a speedadvantage I have limited time myself. 250 LK runs still take 2-3 hours a day! So everybody who is running alot can easely outrun me and post new patterns. I ain't get the complete list of 55 patterns anytime soon even with the speed advantage! The 5000 LK runs take me 3-4 weeks to run so you can easely outspeed me :).

Still I can think to change the screenshots a bit so not every item is imediatly vissable. But I only do so if I hit a major pattern (Ber Jah Cham) all the other items can be put straight in the table I guess.

@Carawolk congratulations, to bad its a match unfortuniatly. Please make Last Wish and use it and be sure to give the barb the nickname Brak!

The easiest way of avoiding missing items is digging, meaning when a pattern is big picking the potions and tp scrolls. Sometimes other items become visable when teleporting to the right. ROF is notorious for missing items, which is way worse as LK.

I've answered several PMs on the subject, but here in public is the situation with Treeharl and his testing.

"I thought that wasn't allowed in the SPF"

Well, often things wind up "ok" because people do things without asking and then we get to live with the consequences. I don't have a TARDIS, so we live with what we have.
Additionally, this is 2016 not 2005. The forum has changed beyond recognition. Many members are no longer around, traffic is much lower and it's much easier to identify what people are up to. ANYTHING shady when the forum was busy, had to be addressed because of the sheer number of posts. People here now, generally aren't flyby hackers trying to mislead people.

I'd still bank on the SPF being the cleanest forum out there. (Or second to the AB, I've not been there in a while.) Miles ahead of anyone else.

Treeharl did PM me and I said "OK providing it's not 800 posts, it's clear what you're doing and the character/items don't go to the MP/trade pool."

The SPF doesn't and won't allow editing/botting etc in the MP/trade pool.

I'm not thrilled with editing for 'testing' purposes either. However, I don't see a difference between what Treeharl is doing here and what another member did years ago
(running a bot for answers). The SPF took the results of that without much complaint. Treeharl's been upfront all along about what he's doing with the obvious "I'm not a legit character" stats being shown.

My concern is that we have it plastered all over the place. I don't want it to seem that the SPF is happy with all sorts of hacking and cheating. Which is why I wanted the number of posts limited and have confirmed Treeharl grasps that those items and character do not go near our MP/trade pool.

I take the point - and agree with -
We don't want to find them as fast as possible, they are another goal to work towards in Diablo. And one of the few goals left probably for some D2 veterans here. By doing what he does, Treeharl is doing it a lot faster and safer, finding the patterns much faster, as a consequence leaving a lot less patterns for us to discover.

But I'm probably in the minority. :)

I don't mind if one of us is taking drugs to accelarate the whole thing.

Let's not do that. ;)

maybe a thread dedicated to the analysis of the data would be an option? That way this thread would remain just for patterns discovered using the "vanilla" game and "true gameplay", so to speak.

I did consider this as an option. However, how many threads do you want on this subject? Particularly ones which are likely to be updated frequently? Perhaps an alternative idea would be to have two code tables in that thread? With Treeharl's behind a <spoiler> tag? That would keep the information in one area and those who didn't want to see those results, don't have to. I'd much prefer that to a "here's the results of the edited character/game running" thread.

Feel free to PM me with any concerns .. that PM button's been working for at least 8 years. I'd rather not de-rail this thread any further if possible.

I agree with this. This is what I was getting at earlier with that extra table showing only the number of patterns that Treeharl (and I gues others too) found for each rune, instead of showing the entire pattern. It's a great idea to put that behind a spoiler tag too. That way we know how many patterns are out there (most notably Jah/Cham), but it still leaves the regular tables for people to fill in as they find them doing runs the regular way.

This is my preferred option, but if others don't agree with it then we can work out another alternative.

One thing to note is discussion of patterns involving Treeharl's finds would also have to be kept behind a spoiler wall as well.

quoting someone shows the text behind the spoiler ;)

Could always just have two separate tables (separated by posts, as well) for minimum worries. *shrug*

Intresting read atm, thanks @Thyiad for elaborating our conversation. However I am not running automatic software at all! I am running lower kurast by hand with ROF pattenrs. Every pattern is manual found!

I think there are two different things of intrest lesser patterns from Pul-Ber and the Major patterns Jah and Cham. I honestly don't think it is a good idea to put the lesser patterns between spoiler tags. I just want one complete dataset of p5/6 tables where everybody can see what they are able to get and what the chances are.

I think the best Idea would be to post the lesser patterns as I do now the same way and I'll think about a way not spoiling major patterns somehow someway (I have to think about that myself).

Maybe an option would include this (but for MAJOR PATTERNS ONLY!)
(Fake pattern)
Code:
FAKE PATTERN
Jah Rune Arlabest +7 Others

As a mather of fact I think I should post all lesser patterns as they indicate how viable a run is. I don't think anybody should feel offended by my hunting "mod" I get the same patterns as you all do. I can't keep the runes while you can, problem solved?

For now I will do the following:
- Post all tables when I find new patterns, thanks for pointing this one out @Brak
- Change nothing with runes Pul-Ber or matching Jah's and Cham's
- Think about a solution if I discover a Jah or Cham pattern that reveals its exstance without spoiling everything.

Also @T72on1 if you want to discover new patterns slowly let me list a few possebilities that I won't touch for now. Frigid Highland has a superchest. Players 1/2 and players 3/4 ROF, players 5/6 LK hasn't got all 65K patterns. Honestly there is alot to discover! You also haven't posted a single pattern in this thread.... So your contributions are conciderable in this case.

@Brak and @Pb_pal could you both send me a PM with your idea prehaps we can work something out together before discussing anything public aigain. See my post below this one about how I think I should continue.

@all I won't make anymore postings about my "hunting mod" in public as I have posted several things numerous times. If somebody has questions just send me a PM!

Edit: Prehaps it would've been the best idea if I just keep running p5/6 ROF this way and keep making the postings like I did. In that case I will stop stimulating p7/8 rof. I don't like the idea of separate tables or spoilers as that will be a mess. Just let us gather complete datasets without the way we gather the data, please!

Let us continue hunting our Jah's and Cham's at p5/6 rof!

Hoping this is the most up to date finds.

Well I couldn't just leave the 5/6 patterns sitting at 2 patterns, so I did a set of 500 runs and came up with a couple to get the ball rolling:

Figured I'd put up a vid of my suboptimal RoF runs. At least you can all be jealous of my extra chest

sorry for the weird vid dimensions, my program captures rest of monitor as a black box when set to window capture.

If your program is the multiplatform version of OBS, you can click on any part of the scene in the preview window to highlight it for editing (a red outline will appear around the source) and then drag it by the marked parts on the edges (sample image in spoiler).

In older versions of OBS there's a specific "Edit Scene" button, which you click to activate and then click on the source you want to adjust in the preview window.

If you're not using OBS at all then I'm not certain what the procedure would be for adjusting the size of the video, but I imagine it's somewhat similar. Also note that you can click the maximize button when you're in windowed mode for d2 and get a larger window which may help in filling things out.

Edit: Also, you keep your cube in the optimal location for gem cubing, but I'd strongly suggest moving your gems to be closer. Three rows to the left of the cube, three rows to the right of the cube, one over top and just cube everytime you get to three of a gem. It's what I do, at least, though if somebody has a better way I'd love to hear it.

@maareek Ah awesome, thanks for solving that. I thought the red box was a cropping window and couldn't figure out what was wrong for the life of me. But apparently I can resize the window in the Edit Scene by dragging the red box.

Also, I've just gotten used to the new cube location (thanks to one of your vids). I always keep crafting runes and junk jewels on the bottom right and useful stuff starts at the top left. So breaking that habit will take some time. Baby steps

Glad to help. Figuring out how that part worked took me longer that I'd like to admit, so I definitely understand your confusion.

Ah yeah, definitely takes time to break in new habits; just wanted to make sure you had the idea down. Good luck with your runs! :)
